  1. I don't know how Cedar Fair accounts for pass sales, buy they certainly want people to have repeat visits, use the drink plan, use FunPix and the meal plan.  Higher attendance from passholders looks good on quarterly reports and many passholders will purchase overpriced goods and services while they are in the park, hence the per caps.

I used to work in an industry that allows clients to prepay for a years worth of services and get a discount on said services. All this money went to corporate to. E aggregated across the country and earn interest. As a service was performed, the branch would get a "credit" on the P&L.  Of course there were extras that were not in the prepaid package that were upsell opportunities.  At the end of the calendar year, if a customer didn't get all the services that they prepaid for, corporate would issue a check after the yearly books were closed. The branch was charged this amount plus a penalty that went against their P&L statement.   This incentivized the branches to complete the prepaid services and upsell.

Id conjecture that Cedar Fair has a similar system, but instead of services, it's visits, photos, meal plan redemptions, etc.  But I could be wrong.

All the money goes into the same pot, but like our branches were incentivized to perform, parks are incentivized to encourage attendance and therefore per caps.  This works well in theory at least, until corporate cuts the budget and causes attendance to spiral downward, which it will if this short term cheapness goes on for another couple of seasons. Living away from Kings Island ( (Lexington area), I've heard several people in my circles say they won't renew this year.

  2. Can they add chicken tenders to any other location? (Satire)  I mean The Chicken Shack usually has pretty good chicken, but why are tenders at Grain and Grill?  Is it that difficult to get grilled boneless skinless chicken at this location ?  Was it because of all the undercooked chicken legs last year?

Grain and Grill is supposed to be a healthier option.

And what happened to the emphasis on locally sourced food that was a big deal under chef major?  Are we back to total reliance on Sysco et al?

  3. I think this topic has been discussed to death. In short, there is no reason to demolish it until there is.  So when this part of the park is redeveloped, it will either get upgraded or demolished as part of that budget allocation. Right now it's good for the small events it hosts and WinterFest storage/staging.

My mistake, I should have realized you're an insufferable troll to a lot of people around here, my mistake for not abiding by my initial impulse to ignore your "contributions" to the discussion. I'll do better in the future.

I think a troll would be someone with no skin in the game. You have said that you no longer have passes and your main park was CP, correct? And that you no longer frequent the parks?  So you've moved on?

When most people have moved in to other things, they don't stay on forums and argue with the majority of posters ad nauseum.

This is the only internet specific forum site I'm on, and while you may stick around to ruffle feathers, I'm debating on putting you on "ignore" status or watching what you post for some humor.

  5. But did that horrible nurse practitioner, who may have been under the influence, who's brother was filming on ride and could have caused an injury, who claimed to be a medical doctor, who interfered with EMS, who then claimed she was a trauma nurse, who demanded that EMS give fluids and a medication that would make the injury worse and who blasted out details of this all over social media, violating privacy principles...did she face any repercussion from any regulatory bodies in Ohio?

Ah, CityBeat posted a list and KI made it....the most miserable places in Cincinnati list...it is from 9/22 though LOL.  Wasn't that the good year....maybe KI needs to make it off of this list first!

I think you are making my post into something that I did not intend. I was observing that as a Cincy legacy, Kings Island should have been in there somewhere.  As far as the 22 list, I'd have to agree, Larry, that was quite good. Without a drink plan, if you need water on a hot summer day at Kings Island, you're going to be miserable!

They are indeed taking the atrocity down gently. I can’t imagine this going anywhere else in the HFE chain… this addition is far beneath Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. Wild Adventures already has an SLC in Twisted Typhoon. They are most likely looking to sell this off to an unfortunate buyer haha

Hey now, T3 wasn't TERRIBLE! the only issue I had with it was the downward ratchet on the restraint towards the end of the ride

  8. In general, yes it's worth it to me because I'm a casual visitor to Cedar Point, so I want to take advantage of my time in the park. The last time I got FLP,  if you were a platinum pass holder, you got FLP at FL price, but I'm sure that will change with the new pass structure.

As others have said, the merge point is further back on many coasters, Kings Island has us spoiled.

  9. I never patronized the park and understand the historical significance and local sentiment.

I rely on the anecdotal experiences of the Tower Topics podcast last week, where they discussed this topic...both said when they went in recent times, there were very few patrons.  I just don't think, if this was the norm,  the operation could have been viable, especially since parking revenues would likely go to the orchestra.  Supposedly, Coney got the parking revenue from Riverbend and that was it's bread and butter.

Most of what I hear is that the orchestra has stolen/closed resident's close by park.  I just don't think the pool could be sustained with customers in a ten mile distance.
