Sigh.......

Where to begin.

Well it's good that they're keeping the concept and characters, but why on Earth would they change the name from Plantation to Mansion?

This is what happens when ya let Yankees make decisions.

How long do you have to live in Atlanta to not be considered a "yankee" any more?

I post news from all parks I think others here would have an interest in...yet Monster Plantation was one of my favorite rides, ever. I can't say I look forward to Monster Mansion, more that I look toward it with trepidation. Yes, I will see it, in due time...

Terpy, who hasn't been to Six Flags Over Georgia this year. . . yet...

The third-grade chorus from Mount Paran Christian School in Marietta was part of a group of about 100 people who got a sneak peek at Six Flags' Monster Mansion, formerly known as Monster Plantation, on Thursday afternoon. The chorus serenaded the group with the ride's infectious theme song before people climbed aboard the six-person boats to travel through the monster family picnic.

The newly "re-furred" Monster Mansion reopens to the public on Saturday.

"Reopening Monster Mansion is very special for us because it's the tried and true location in the park that families can enjoy together," said Park President Melinda Ashcraft. "It was important to preserve something we thought was history. Millions of people have ridden this as a family." ...

See also this thorough review from The Atlanta Journal Constitution:

...Waiting just outside the exit to eavesdrop on their reactions was Gary Goddard, the ex-Disney Imagineer whose company built the old monster ride in 1981 and remade the new one for a 2009 kind of audience.

“Did you hear that?!” he whispered. ” ‘Best ride ever. Awesome.’ Rar! See that? They’re making monster faces!”

Other audiences were impressed, too. Phil Mendez, another former Disney guy who worked on the old and new monster rides, said it turned out better than he expected: “These guys did a heck of a job re-furring those characters,” he said....

Good friends and Six Flags Over Georgia fans and experts Robert and Peggy Ulrich get quoted too!
