I went to haunt opening weekend on saturday, and it was open. the next time i went, it was not. Some friends of mine went the second sunday, and it wasnt open. Ive seen many trip reports saying that drop zone has been down, but mainly determined that weather was the factor. Then, some out of town friends went friday night, where the weather was perfect (60s then into the high 50s at night...) and according to them Drop Zone never was even intended to be open with no lights around it, no maintenance, noone standing in front of it etc. so now i ask what is up with drop zone?

I don't know what this Drop Zone is that you speak of, but I haven't seen Drop Tower at Kings Island running lately.

It was reported here on these forums in a post that may now have been deleted that the ride is down for mechanical reasons (the post actually said more than that, which may be why it may have been deleted...)

was it due to a part being needed like before during the sfkk accident or whatnot? the thing is, im thinking about going this coming sunday with someone who hasnt yet to ride drop zone and wants to before they move away and yeah. It sounds like that wont happen.

There could be many factors this time of year they could be waiting on new cables to arrive or it could have been struck by lightning "not sure if we had any lately but I remember the weather people talking about them sometime this month" if it did get struck it takes awhile for the new weight cells to arrive. Most parts are at the ready on site but some parts are just not always available right off the shelve.

when people go tomorrow, or saturday could you report if drop zone is open or testing or anything? im really hoping my friend will finally get a ride in on drop zone sunday before they leave....

Drop Tower's been closed for weeks, and I doubt it reopens for just one more weekend.

it is not because it is too cold to run, at least when a few people i know were there last friday. it was low 60s and stayed in the high 50s all night and there wasnt a single person anywhere near the ride, so that is not it. what else it maybe i have no clue.

The drops are not thrilling. The action is lacking. It's really not long enough. It feels too "fake". The people associated with Drop Zone do not seem to act out the part. There is no storyline. It's too predictable. And Wesley Snipes is a poor lead.

Drop Tower is one of those rides that I ride if totaly nesicary like if a family member rwants to. I love it but Im not to addicted to it. Just like Delirium and SlingShot.

After riding maXair, I have no desire anymore to wait for Delirium. It's so much more tame then maXair it just kills it for me.

Meh, they're almost exactly the same. If anything, to me maXair is more relaxing.

^Yea maXair is very relaxing. I could probably fall asleep on that thing!

It was open last night...

I rode it twice yesterday.

While at HH on Saturday, I noticed DT get stuck about 3/4 of the way up around 11:30. It was already chilly when I got to the park about 7:30 PM and it was stuck for almost 30 min before it was lowered back down to the ground. Those folks must have been cold! It was down for about 30 min and I noticed it running again about 12:30 as I was leaving the park.

That woould be very scarry.

It would be nice to get stuck up there for a half hour, just seat there enjoying the view!

You say that, but I'd guess you'd be pretty cold when it's in the low 40s out, you're stuck 250 ft in the air with nothing under you and the wind is blowing!

That's why I wore three layers a hat gloves and a bandanna I was warm the entire day. It helps to dress appropriately.

I for one would love to get stuck on top no matter how cold the weather is. Rain on the other hand is a different story, unless it was about 96 degrees outside.

Well maby they have to replace them ever year or so now because of than incident. And It wasent 3 years ago. I am pretty sure it was last season.
