  1. I love BOTH of the photos in today’s set. 1974 There is so much I love about looking at this photo, the skyride, the people on the lower level observation deck, the banners, the swans...truly a great time to be in the park! 2011 Judging by how little of the bottom of the “dock” you can see I am wondering if the park keeps the water level higher than back in 1974...or I just caught it on a higher day. Does the park adjust the water level in the pond? (Anyone...anyone....Bueller....Bueller...) So where would I rather be today? Even after listing all of the great stuff in the 1974 photo I can not say that I choose 1974. I love Viking Fury...so I can’t vote against it in the 2011 shot...so today I refuse to choose. As always ever and ever thanks for all of the participation...and have a great weekend!

^Jesse, I don't think Paul meant you in the "they"...you will always be an "us".

I am assuming that you didn't mean this to come off quite like I took it...I also have a life. Sometimes I joke that I don't...but the fact of the matter is I also work 40 hours a week, plus for 7 months this year I spent an ungodly amount of hours every day renovating a house...now i'm building a playhouse...and I still find time to visit this site. If just a member can find the time to contribute then why not the people who are "running" the site? If they are bored with the site why not find members who aren't? (And yes, adding Jesse/Avatar was the best thing to happen to this site in eternity.) (Just trying to stay on "the list"!)
  4. Actually, riding it without the swing sounds about as fun as my last... experience on the Crypt. Similar seats too!
  5. Hmm, this one is a toughy. Things stayed the same, like the patio, pond, and the Eiffel Tower. And some things changed, like the trees that sure have grown, and Viking Fury - Sky Ride. Speaking of Viking fury, on Labor Day weekend 2011. The ride began, and when the ship was at about at *medium height*, someone on the *trees side* of the ship yelled, "Less filling!" then, the pond side went up (where I am) and my and a couple others yelled "Tastes great"! I believe about half of the boat was confused, but most people joined in anyway. "Less Filling"! yelled the tree side, raising their hands up. "Tastes great!" yelled most of the people on the pond side. It continued for the rest of the ride. At the end of the ride, me and the ship went into a huge applause. "Sounds like you liked your ride" said the ride operator. So then I watched the next cycle. No "Less filling, tastes great". Just a normal cycle. Standbyme made my post a huge story, because of the Viking Fury picture. If anybody was some how on thta ride, or saw it, then you can tell me. ir rode it on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. That was probably my greatest flat ride memory ever, and so 2011 wins because of the VF memory. Keep it up, Standbyme!
  6. let this not end, its incredible. 1974 wins today! Wish you could do this with Coney island could do some of this???? Possibly:
  7. How many more pictures do we have left? I don't want this to end.
  8. As long as, years from now, the next owner doesn't try to install Son of Wave Pool--it'll throw you for a loop!
  9. I visited Busch Tampa in the Feb timeframe a couple of years ago. Park was not crowded at all and I got many rides and was able to eat well and see many animals also. I wouldn't think FP are necessary. Also, I'll say it before Avatar does. Don't assume that Disney is too expensive - he has shown many times that staying at a value resort (Pop) buying a multi-day ticket, and getting the free dining plan deal can make it quite affordable. Your interests should also drive where you go - are you looking for thrill rides only, an experience, Potter, a mix of animals, rides, theme.
  10. I have never seen that theater before. It looks like one of those blobs you would put in a pond and launch people with.
  11. Well, as promised, today’s photo set is a little more interesting to look at than yesterdays. (You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life… ) 1974 The Dad in this photo doesn’t look too thrilled to be riding in the car…but I bet in the long run it was a good memory. 2011 As you can see by the cornstalks this photo wasn’t taken at the same time as the others…I didn’t quite get the shot I needed in the summer so I had to retake this one…out of 31 shots this was the only one that I had to do this with. Not bad odds eh?! So, where would I rather be standing today 1974 or 2011…this is one of the few shots where I could go either way. I think the cars would be about as much fun as Surf Dog…if I HAD to choose I would go with 2011 because I know that one of my nephew’s favorite rides (Peanuts Off-Road Rally) is back behind Surf Dog. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
