  2. It's 2012 and just under four more months until Kings Island opens its doors for its 40th season. Like last year's topic, each day I will try my best to post a "vintage" Kings Island photo from my massive collection of media I've gathered over the years through personal collections and online discoveries. You're likely to see some of your photos, so don't be surprised. Anything goes. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23316&hl=%2Bflashback+%2Bopening&fromsearch=1'>http://www.KICentral...ng&fromsearch=1 2011 Flashback Till Opening Topic^^

  3. It does pose the interesting question of what is to become of the fort. Mr. Kinzel couldn't bear it being named Fort Cooper (after he learned, after it was posted here, for whom it was named...in fact, some sly poster here posted the reason, suspecting the garrison would then be quickly renamed. It was. ) Or, perish the thought, will the edifice, without being renamed, honor a new KI GM transplanted from a park a bit further south, speaking of sonny (thus making paternal visits a bit easier in his dotage)? Or, will the place become a fort named for someone else we met?

  6. ^DA featured new benches that were different from elsewhere in the park.

  7. The radar tower at KI`s Flight of Fear was taken down not too long ago. I wonder why they took it out. Yes, the J.G. C. 96 logo still can be spotted on one corner of the building at KI. The thing X Base really needs more than anything else is a restroom. I think if they were to throw in a restroom, maybe a small food stand, and a flat ride on the triangular piece of land between Flight of Fear, Racer and Adventure Express, then they could have a real hit. And on that subject, I don`t think we will ever see X Base connected to Action Zone. A more likely scenario, if they add a ride in the location I named above, would be to connect the path right by the Jacob`s ladder game, between the exit of The Racer and Adventure Express. That seems a lot more feasible than building a path out behind Adventure Express, where there are steep grade changes.

  9. I'm looking forward to my daughter (who turns 2 in March) being able to do much more in the park this Summer. Of course, by the time Haunt rolls around, we'll have another little one to be taking along (we're due September 4th)!

  10. And best of all, guests couldn't "help" by adjusting the wait time signs to suit themselves or their wicked senses of humor, as they currently can and sometimes do!

  12. I remember the last time I rode the antique cars. If I remember right, it was the last labor day they were open. What a shame. I would love to see them do more in the future to bring back the feel that attractions like that provided.

  13. Yes. I still maintain that was one of the worst ride removals and replacements in KI history. That coupled with the removal of the Flying Eagles ride really removed quite a bit of charm from the park. But that is neither here nor there. I`m looking forward to seeing more incredible comparisons! I actually thought about doing something similar for Coney Island Central this summer, but just never got around to doing it...

  14. Nice to see the patch of bushes/landscaping in the right hand bottom quarter of the picture stood the test of time. Once again, nicely done standbyme.
