  1. i have been lurking for a long time here. it all started when i went to ki for my birthday last year. i live on nky so it isn't a far travel, i just don't go often. last summer was the first time i had gone in at least five years. myself, i had never rode the ride. i am twenty, and in SOB's prime time, i was much too "young" to ride that ride, as my mom would tell me. what brought me to this website: the sun was setting and my friends had gone off to ride top gun/flight deck. i was watching the other rides when i heard someone talking about that "eye sore." an outsider, of course, whom had no idea of what it was or the amount of people for/against its lively hood. until that moment, i never paid attention to the fact that it was sbno. i saw it sitting there, with the sun going down, and it just looked miserable. the lady, the outsider was right, in my opinion. it was an eye sore. for me, it isn't about the ride so much. when i was a kid, my family and i would go to Kings Island weekly, i'd say. the SoB being shut down for me is another piece of my childhood slipping away. i remember wanting to ride all the "adult" rides my brother got to ride. i always said i would ride SoB when i was older. do i want to? not now, no. I am just one of those people who refuse to call the new names by anything other than pki names, and really, wouldn't recall their new names if it weren't for this site! those names are what i know and love. change--such a dreadful thing. it looks sad, basically my two cents. which i know has been said over and over. although it costs them nothing, i hope for 2013 or even 2014 they focus on that area. that giant, lonely track just sitting there, yes causes so many questions (& because of those questions, people like me ene up lurkers here) but again, my opinion, it kind of takes that fun and excitement away for just a second. it also made me doubt the ability of ki's safety... but only for a minute until i decided to ride something else. anything ki could do to it, i could accept with open arms. i, like many, just want to see SOMETHING! Even a restaurant would do... at least it'd be operating

  3. Cedar Pointer did a great job of responding. But let me elaborate just a bit on the idea of "hating on Disney". In general, I find that people who look at Disney with a critical eye do so out of love. They love the place, so they are upset when they see management letting it slide. Even in its current state, yes, Disney World is amazing. But it's less amazing than it used to be. And if that downward trend is allowed to continue indefinitely, it will eventually feel like an expensive rip-off. (Some will argue we are already there.) Getting back on topic a bit, Disney World does a lot of things right. But they don't like to spend money these days. And when they are cutting costs on things like routine maintenance, it's hard for me to believe they would spend a lot of money on Marvel properties in Orlando. A monorail wrap is pretty inexpensive. If Universal made a stink, they could tear the wrap off. No big deal. But building attractions or even meet and greets is another story. Disney would have to spend some money on that either to buy out the contract or in court. Plus, there would be bad press associated with the court option. As others have pointed out, this is possible. But it is highly unlikely.

  4. I think it's a nice idea...it's personable. My only critisism is the music gets a little repetitive.

  5. When I first worked food service, a small soda was 10 ounces and cost a dime. A large was 16 ounces and was 15 cents. A. I'm old. (a 6 and a half ounce returnable bottle of Coke was also a dime, plus a 2 cent deposit). B. Why do *I* still know this stuff, 40 years later?

  6. We'd often go check out the yellow sponge chasing a pickle to get out of the heat for a little bit..... Then, after we watched the cleaning crew in the Festhaus, we'd go see the Spongebob movie! It's a shame they don't offer the movie as a 20+ minute promo/commercial for the attraction. Isn't it the same movie Best Buy sells?

  8. When you put it like this I agree, I love nature. ("I love the outdoors, whenever i'm not indoors that's where you'll find me." - Frank Burns) The problem I have nowadays is no matter how much I like seeing exotic animals, I can't get it out of the back of my head how much happier most of them would be out in the wild. But that would make you old...too! Today’s photo set is a slightly different...because it’s not quite in the park. 1974 I have some fond memories of the trams...it seemed so magical to wait and board them and be taken to the park. (Although now that I am older I can’t imagine wasting my time waiting for one when I could just walk and be at the entrance faster. ) The two things that caught my attention in this photo are: A. The boy in his tube socks...oh what a time period...the boys of today don’t know what they missed having those “cool” fashion accessories. (The only downside of having the striped socks is that you had to find a matching pair...nowadays I just grab any two white socks in my drawer.) B. The lady on the back of the tram looking up...it’s like she’s just thinking “I wonder if it’s gonna rain today”. 2011 Where would I rather be today...1974 or 2011? Well if I base it solely on these two photos I would say that I would go for 2011 because I think the trams are a waste of gas...BUT I would choose 1974 if I could reach into the picture and grab me one of those old Scooby Doo parking signs! Thanks for all of the comments! It is sad to see some of the animals in captivity, but I have been lucky enough to be close to an eagle, that could no longer fly and would never survive in the wild. And it seemed happy with its handler, and even stepped over to me and tried to climb on my shoulder. I think I miss the trams myself. I see so many elders coming into the park exhausted from the walk.

  9. ...and it also has trams, as does Disney, for that matter. Trams are not just a convenience. I could have gotten my mother to go to KI in her last years had the park had trams. It didn't, so she chose to go to Dollywood instead. I choose 1974, but then I nearly always do. Thanks again, standbyme and Hendrick.

  10. I would love if Ohio had a park that looked like Busch Gardens Europe. (Never been to Tampa) Busch Gardens is by far my favorite park. Iv'e Been To Bush Gardens in Tampa, it is also very beautiful
