Yeah. I know. I made a brief visit to the park on Saturday night. It was packed beyond belief! I was actually at the park every day this weekend, although Friday night I was volunteering in the games department.

Well, how many supervisors in the rides depatment were under 18 under Paramount Parks? While there might be some, I doubt that there was a huge amount. The day that they require all ride operators to be 18 years of age or older in Ohio will spell trouble for Kings Island and Coney Island for staffing.

Well, I was at school in the summer at DAAP at UC. I only worked at Coney on select days when I had time without homework. I also worked at Coney essentially every day they were open from Labor Day weekend through there final weekend on September 30-October 1st. Now I`m on co-op at Cole & Russell Architects working on a major project downtown. But yes, it was nice to have a fun day at the park with little or no lines!

Well, since the original thread with all this information was lost, I will post it for others to hear. The annual PKIC day at KI will be Sunday, October 29th. We will have two meeting times, one at 11am and then another one at 2pm. We look forward to seeing you there! Also, as has been tradition the last several years, meet at The Beast sign at 7pm when the park closes. The park will then escort us up to the station for the final ride on The Beast for the season. This is always a great way to close out a great year at Paramount`s Kings Island!

Yes, we are aware of the problem. The history photo gallery is still online. This likely is linked to the forums going offline the other day. The gallery will be back as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, I have done the Worksite when IJST is open, and they definanetly still had the flame going. Plus, I would believe what CombatStupendous says, even without evidence or proof.

I made a sojourn up to the park today, figuring that crowds would be light because of the cloudy, windy and cold day. I also figured that the Bengals game might keep some people away. Before I departed for the park, I checked their website to make sure they weren`t closing early because of lack of people. (I know they closed at 4 once last October with similar type weather conditions.) I arrived in the parking lot shortly after 1 o`clock to find an almost empty parking lot. They only had one lane open for the metal detectors, but due to the lack of crowds, this was a non issue. The Beast was a walk on, in stark contrast from the night before when it was about a fifty minute wait. Drop Zone and Delirium were also walk on lines (and they were not assigning seats because of the lack of people in line. The two coldest rides of the day were on Drop Zone (the wind was really gusting up at the top) and Delirium. I also managed to get back to back rides in on The Monster without having to leave my tub. I also rode The Beast six times, and talked with CombatStupendous89 while at The Beast. My final (and coldest) ride on The Beast was a walk on for the front row! Needless to say, I spent a lot of time over at Flight of Fear because it had both walk on lines and HEAT! By the time I left at 6:30, I had taken 15 rides on Flight of Fear. Some rides were down due to the cold temperatures such as: Face Off, Congo Falls, IJST, and Wild Thornberrys River Adventure. If only next Sunday the park would be as empty as it was today! It was essentially like exclusive park time because there were no lines. I was sort of surprised that they did not close early, say like at 5. Because I don`t know if they ended the day in the black (based on the crowds the last two hours, I doubt it as park employees seemed to outnumber guests). So in summary, I had an awesome five hours in the park.

Kings Island`s has always had water cannons shoot out of the barrels. On the left side of the train, they have flames fueled by natural gas, and then they have the large flame that shoots out just to the right of the helicopter. Been like that since it opened last year.

It would make sense that the supports are likely in the graveyard over by SoB. That is also where Scooby`s Ghoster Coaster has found its way to.
-
I don`t know exactly how that would work. But I`d imagine that there will be a way that you can get a new sticker without having to shell out another $35.

Yes, video taping of the shows in the Paramount Theater is a no no. Those shows are produced by an outside production company (Fancy Pants out of Las Vegas), and they make an explicit warning that video taping of the shows is prohibited. (Both the magic show and Monster Mash are produced by the same company).

Well, from what we were told at media day, no. You are apparantly allowed to take cameras in, although the flash MUST be turned off. It also depends on who is working the entrance to each attraction. I know for a fact that the greeter at Massacre Manor seems to be a stickler on rules, and even requests that all cell phones not be on belts (for fear of them falling off during the haunt).

Halloween Scares Mental Health Advocates
CoastersRZ replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Yes, they do have a point. But where do we draw the line? If people want everything portrayed realistically, then will people start demanding that science fiction shows and CSI type shows be taken off the air because they don`t portray actual events. Granted, these are slightly different issues than the one at hand. People need to learn when to put their efforts into a more worthwhile cause. Just like the group that got mad at SFKK claiming child abuse from their cock roach eating promotion. What it comes down to is reality verses fantasy. Kings Island will use the argument that its haunts are fantasy and that the paying general public is smart enough to understand that it is fantasy and meant for their entertainment and not an actual protrayal of mental health institutes. Ultimately, it comes down to the blurring of the line between reality and fantasy. The level of detail in some of the haunts make them seem real to the guests, who will mistakingly believe they accurately portray actual mental health institutes. That there is the issue this group has. Quite frankly, I think it is relatively obvious that these haunts are in no way trying to portray actual mental health institutes. Yes, there is the Asylum, which is perhaps the most closely related to an actual mental health institute, but other than the name and some of the scaractors, does not try to portray an institute. Also, the maze in question, Psycho Path, other than the name, there is nothing really in question with the portrayal in that haunt. -
I don`t know the answer to that. And to be honest, I`m not sure if the park knows the answer to that yet. All they know is that the passes that are being issued right now are only temporary in nature and will be replaced by the permanent 2007 passes sometime in the spring.
-
And they have been for several weeks now. At least since Beast Bash a couple weeks ago. And in case anyone was wondering, he was refering to the Kings Island season pass page found here. It should be noted that this is a vehicle sticker that will be applied to a vehicle. Much like how parking passes used to be done at Kings Island in the mid to late `90s. (I still have a 1998 parking decal from PKI on the windshield of my car.) If you are a renewing pass holder, they will put the parking pass on your pass, and not give you a parking decal. And of course, all passes that are processed between now and next weekend are temporary passes until you will receive the actual pass sometime next spring.

Well for a unique theme, go with Cowboy Carnage in Rivertown. I find this haunt to be enjoyable. Not necessarily the scariest one, but fun nonetheless

What New Attraction Can We Expect From Cedar Fair
CoastersRZ replied to RailRider's topic in Coming Attractions
Yes. Just because they are in debt does not mean that they will stop spending money on the parks. If they were to do that, attendance at the parks would likely remain flat or fall. As a result, they would generate less income, to help pay off the debt. Even though Cedar Fair now has three parks in Ohio, a lot of the guests that come to Kings Island are season pass holders. As a result, one could imagine that Cedar Fair would want to give them reasons to renew their passes year after year so they continue to contribute to the per capita spending at the park. -
All the indoor haunts (Circus of Horrors 3D, Cowboy Carnage, The Aslum, and Massacre Manor) start at 7pm. All the outdoor haunts (Psycho Path, Headless Hollow, Work Site, Cornstalkers, and the one in the Paramount Story) start at 8pm.

Well, I never made it to Action Zone, but upon heading to the front of the park, I did notice that they had placed bailes of straw and tombstones on the International Bandstand, so I was wondering if they had moved the Hauntcert series elsewhere. And it makes sense to put it in Action Zone, becuase Action Zone was pretty much void of any FearFest activities.

Phantom Theater + King Cobra Fearfest Theming
CoastersRZ replied to PKIVortex's topic in Kings Island
Well, I just got back from the park. I was not there to ride rides or even to partake in any of the haunts. I was there as a group volunteer in the games department. (I worked the Speed pitch in Coney Mall across from Happy Days). Anyway, upon leaving the park, I noticed that they had added the character who used to shine the flashlight at the cars. This character was animated, and his flashlight was turning on and off. Also, they had that particular character`s audio track playing as well! Not sure if his face was in sync with the audio or not, but still pretty cool, nonetheless! Crowds were moderate, but it was hard for me to tell as I was at Speed pitch from 8:30 to midnight. -
I italicized the THE and not the the "un" because he had linked to another unofficial PKI fan site. I was trying to point out that he shouldn`t have linked to that other site because we had pictures on this site on the topic that was being discussed. While it may seem blue in the pictures, it is definantely a purple shade, like that of a blacklight. (Which is close to the ultraviolet spectrum). The tower is not lit with blacklights perse, but filters that are applied over the lighting package that they installed for WinterFest last year. I am kind of surprised that they haven`t lit the fountain up with all red lights like they used to a couple years back.

Uh, how about linking to image that are actually on this site, like this one. Afterall, PKIC is THE unofficial guide to Paramount`s Kings Island.

Preview of Fearfest 2006..6..6..
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Well, the waits are always shorter the first couple of weekends. By the way, when I was there on Saturday, the line for Psycho Path had reached its way all the way up to where it departs down the path right by the entrance to Flight of Fear, a long way from the actual entrance to that haunt. -
Preview of Fearfest 2006..6..6..
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
To the best of my knowledge, they are not doing any sort of speedlane tickets for any of the FearFest attractions this year. -
You will just have to wait and see. It will be an interesting tour, no doubt!
