  1. Well, I certainly hope that they offer a season parking pass for all those non-renewing pass holders. At $10 a visit, that parking bill would sure add up after only a handful of visits. I mean, I`ve visited the park 15 times this year, so that would equate to $150. Is it just me, or do they seem a little disorganized with the season passes? Granted, they have a lot of integration to work out, but it seems like they are rushing too quickly to get passes sold, without working out all the quircks. Perfect example is the parking passes not being available, not being able to process your new photo id until next year, etc. Not to mention the fact that they had originally announced the KI pass would have the former "Gold Pass" perks. Now, they are now claiming that even those will return. I will be getting a pass next year (most likely a KI only pass) and will renew by the end of the year to get free parking. It just seems like they might be rushing things.
  2. I`ll agree with you there. It might have the same capacity, but certainly not better capacity.
  3. Be patient people! I`m sure that it will be up soon. They will want to drum up interest in the event so as to attract more people to the park. They are probably working on it, and will launch it when they are ready. A FearFest image is now the main image on the KI homepage, so I doubt it will be much longer before they launch the FearFest site.
  4. I believe that SDatHC has the same capacity as what Phantom Theater has, despite loosing half the cars. They achieved this by effectively doubling the speed at which the ride operates.
  5. Well, that is good, I guess. But does that mean that there are no technically new haunts this year? Hopefully, they will have a couple of new scare zones/staff Coney Mall better with scaracters so it becomes one giant scare zone. I`m sure all the details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
  6. Well, Avatar was running today when I was up in the Tower around five. I do have one slight gripe, and that is trash cans that have no lids on them. Isn`t it common for them to have at least some sort of lid on them to attempt to conceal the trash that they are holding? I saw numerous places where they just had the standard trash can, with no lid of any sort to conceal the trash. Nothing seemed to be going on with Son of Beast. Although they still have a worker staffed at the entrance to the ride.
  7. I highly doubt that any Americana rides are going to be relocated to Kings Island. Although, that building was originally the home of the Cuddle Up and the original Dodgem cars.
  8. Yes, I was at the park today from around 10am until 5:30. It was a perfect day. And to my surprised, the crowds were relatively light for it being a holiday weekend. The longest line I had to wait in was forty-five minutes, and that was for Drop Zone in mid afternoon. By the time I left, I had been on all the major coasters (including Face Off and IJST), as well as TR:TR. I never made it over by Rivertown and the logflume. The closest I came is when we stopped and ate at Potato Works by the train station. I did see that the facade for last year`s R.L. Stine`s Fear Street has gone up. It also looks like they have begun to set up Maze of Madness as there were pallets with some random materials outside of the building that it is traditionally held in.
  9. Isn`t that day in June for Toyota, or some other big company like that? Most people think that the park is closed because it is "gay day" at the park, when there really is a legitimate company buyout that day. I believe that the current Pride Night is held on one of the last Friday nights in September, and as others have stated is only open to those who buy tickets through certain organizations.
  10. I don`t think that it will be a shop perse. It will certainly be interesting to see if the plans for that space are carried out as originally planned.
  11. Actually this year is better than most, because the park is open on the 24th to the general public. Normally, after Labor Day, that is it until the final season in September.
  12. And hopefully, KI will not make parking passes be a sticker that is valid only on one car, like it will be at Michigan`s Adventure. It is much easier and more efficient if the parking pass is actually on the season pass photo ID.
  13. I`ve heard that if you are a renewing pass holder, that as originally stated, parking is free if you buy and process your pass before the last day the park is open in 2006.
  14. Does anyone know if Cedar Fair switched over the Paramount Parks advertising to the ad agency that Cedar Fair has used? If they have, that might explain why the ad felt different.
  15. Yeah. I`m just bummed that a KI pass is not essentially worth less, because in past years, a $75 pass included admission to another four amusement parks. Now, as a KI pass holders, I have to fork over $50 to get that right. If I were to only visit CP once next year, it would make more sense just to get a KI pass, and pay general admission up at Cedar Point. And because I will be in Grad School at UC next summer, it is unlikely that I would be able to get up there more than one day. Anyone know if they started selling the passes at the park this weekend? EDIT: Just checked Canada`s Wonderland site, and it appears that their passes have also returned. It looks like our friends north of the border will not be able to buy a Maxx pass.
  16. I`ve only been there 14 times this year. Taking 16 credit hours at UC in the summer, and working sporadic weekends at Coney doesn`t leave much time for KI. Heck, this weekend, I will spend 21 hours in the next two days at Coney, and have Monday for Kings Island!
  17. Yeah, it was very recently that PKI asked to be annexed into the city of Mason. While the park should have to pay for the services that it is getting from Mason, I think that Mason is trying to take advantage of places like The Beach and Kings Island with this tax.
  18. Gamesguy08. What I was implying is that instead of PKI taking a hit with the $1 admission tax, they would in turn hike the general admission rate by $1 so that the tax is effectively incorporated in the admission. That way, the park is still making the same amount of money as before the tax. The reason the park does not want the tax, is because they likely do not want to have to pass the tax onto the general public. I can understand Mason wanting to cut residents some slack who work in Cincinnati and are subjected to Cincinnati`s 2.1% income tax, and then to be subjected to another income tax for Mason.
  19. Yeah, I read that in the paper this morning. I`m sure Kings Island is opposed to any such admissions tax, as they would most likely have to pass the tax onto the consumer (ie the paying customers). Although, like other parks have done, the tax, if approved, would probably be rolled into the price of admission/ season pass.
  20. Right. I didn`t say Snoopy wasn`t popular. I was just saying that Nick is more popular than Snoopy is, especially since there is branding from more than just one show with Nick as opposed to the one set of characters from the Peanuts gang. I just don`t see the reasoning why people would want the park to remove all the Nick stuff in favor of the Peanuts gang. It just doesn`t make much sense to me, from a market reach standpoint.
  21. Yep. All discussion should be held in those threads.
  22. To my knowledge, that is still how Star Trek the Experience is set up. I do know that at least for a while, Great America had a deal where Great America pass holders got free admission to Bonfante Gardens.
  23. Why is everyone so obsessed with the Peanuts gang? Isn`t Nick more popular with kids today. Sure, the Peanuts Holiday specials still air every year and get a large audience, but with the popularity of Nick, I think that Cedar Fair will want to keep Nick in the parks as long as it possibly can.
  24. No, to my knowledge, it is not Cedar Fair`s intention to announce pass programs at their original parks before beginning to sell them at their newly acquired parks.
  25. Child labor laws aren`t too kind to people working lat, especially in October.
