From now on Benny, if you have a technical related question, please post the thread in the PKIC Footnotes forum. It helps keep things organized and easier to find, thanks!

^ You mean the Wednesday before Memorial Day. Labor Day is in September. Actually, in 2005 NoF was open until midnight. But some of the rides that were shut down because of the fireworks never reopened. I don`t get why they have to open at noon on Saturdays in October, but yet they are opening at 11 on Sundays in October. Doesn`t make much sense to be, I would think it would be the opposite. It also appears, like this year, that FearFest will begin with the last weekend in September.

Yes. The state will not approve the reopening of the ride until they are certain that it is safe for the public to ride. They are protecting us from the park operating an unsafe attraction. Some may not like that SoB is closed, but it is for the best. I sure would want a full investigation into what happened so that the park can properly fix the ride. Hopefully, all goes well and they will be able to reopen the ride sometime next year.

Well, welcome to the forums! I`m glad you had fun at the park. Next time, it wouldn`t hurt to reread your post to make sure you don`t have run on sentences and proper spelling and capitilization. Also, there is no need to shout for replies. Replies will come if people want to respond to your comments.

I would assume it was. But you have to remember that it was under Paramount Parks then, so things were a little different with how they handled capital expenditures. I believe it was up to the individual parks to recommend what projects they wanted, but it was ultimately up to the corporate offices which projects were approved. I`m sure, as in the case of Stealth/Borg Assimilator, that it was a move instigated, at least in part, by the corporate offices. Much like the rumored plan to move Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion to either Carowinds or Canada`s Wonderland.

I don`t know how Cedar Fair works, but I don`t think that whatever park gets the ride, if it is in fact being removed, would have to "pay" GL for the ride, assuming that it is moved to another Cedar Fair park of course. I believe that most of the capital expenditures at the parks are handled at a coporate level, and not so much at an individual park level.

Yes, that is a valid point. But, before 2000 when the park was rebranded and had four coasters added, the park was doing fine. Granted, the removal of any of the newer coasters would kill part of the draw that this struggling park has. But it will not completely doom the park if they remove one of their coasters. That park is a very nice park (I visited it in 2002 when it was in its Six Flags Worlds of Adventure days). It is always nice to visit a park that has some really old rides (like the Big Dipper) sprinkeled amongst some newer thrill rides. The removal of one key ride won`t necessarily remove all the soul from Geauga Lake. But it would kill some of it. Just like the removal of the Eagles from KI took away a little bit of the classic feel/soul of KI.

Like a new set of Flying Eagles perhaps?

I`ll believe it when I see it. But stranger things have happened in the past.

Nice trip report! One note on your video on youtube, it appears that you made it a private movie. And hence we cannot enjoy it! Yes, the Disney parks are awesome, and their attention to detail is amazing. I visited all four Disney parks in 2004. At MGM, I was asked to participate in the preshow to the studio backlot tram ride. Lets just say that I had a drenchingly good time!

I wouldn`t say that statement is overused. But, I would say that it is a pretty truthful statement.

^ Well, you know what they say. Those who tell, don`t know, and those that know, don`t tell.

Well, The Beach rents some of Coney`s pedal boats and puts them in their Lazy Miami River ride. They also apparantely use one of their water slides as a toboggan run. That right their is taking the roller coaster back to its origins in Russia as ice sleds when they were known as Russian mountains.

PKICentral Gets Schooled by THE MAN
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Wow, nothing like digging up an old topic! It should be noted that in the upcoming entertainment auditions, the park is looking for band members to partake in a band for one of the live shows next year. Whether that be for a School of Rock type show or something similar, it sounds like it could mean a similar type of show. -
Looks like December 22nd is their opening day, just in time for the Christmas weekend. It will be interesting to see how their attendance does in the colder months of the year, as this type of resort is relatively new in this area.

Well, I never said that they have announcements coming. But I did say that they might have one. But they also might not have any announcement coming up. Afterall, Cedar Fair has previousely said that they would honor any commitments that Paramount Parks had for capital expansion projects in 2007. Which with CBS`s budget cuts, doesn`t bode very well for anyone hoping for a new ride at the Island in 2007. But if you simply listened to Cedar Fair`s conference call today, you could have heard Dick Kinzel say that some announcements about 2007 capital expenditures would be disclosed later this month. Hopefully one of those is for Kings Island, which I have a hunch it will be, but you never know for sure until it is announced.

Well, I don`t know if it is really a sign or not. Considering that BG never had Nick characters to my knowledge. But definantly some interesting information. I think it would be unwise for Cedar Fair to ditch Nick. I wonder if those three floats are from Kings Island`s Winterfest. I know that Cedar Fair shipped a few of KI`s floats out to Knott`s Berry Farm.

See Ryan`s post above. There will be an announcement made by PKIC in a couple of weeks. There might also be an announcement from the park about something not directly related to this site in the coming weeks. You never know what the park has up their sleeves...
-
Read his words about an announcement carefully. The announcement that will occur in the coming weeks will relate to PKIC. Trust me, there might be something other than the PKIC announcement coming out of the park in the coming weeks and months.

Well, whenever I try and listen to it, it cuts out after about a minute and a half (at the "Hey, who`s out there?" part). It attempts to rebuffer, and then just stops. Anyone else have that problem?

Strange, I didn`t notice any trees missing when I rode The Racer. Just the soil coring machine, a Bobcat tractor, and a couple small piles of dirt. Nothing to write home about and proclaim a new ride for next year. Just take a glance at the third quarter earnings report from Cedar Fair. Sure doesn`t scream that they are adding a ride to Kings Island next season to me. Just general park enhancements to improve the guest experience.
