As much as I want to get a Cedar Fair Max pass, I realistically won`t get up there for more than one visit next summer, so it is not worth the extra $50 for me. It will just be the Kings Island pass for me.
-
Well, don`t say that quite yet. Keep in mind that Cedar Fair is going to be honoring most of the commitments that Paramount had in place for capital expansions next year. While the themes may be different now, the basic concepts will likely still be the same.

Lights out for School of Rock & Nickelodeon Parade

Ok, suit yourself if you feel that Paramount killed the park. To each his own. -

The cancer that is Paramount? Granted some things that Paramount did weren`t the smartest, but under their stewardship, the parks rebounded from the lat 80`s. The real reason why the live entertainment is not high caliber has been the fact that they would have to pay to bring in higher quality performers. Which is why places like Disney and Dollywood have better shows. They pay more. In fact, one of the stars from School of Rock last year got a job down at Disney World. And I highly doubt that Cedar Fair has made their mind up on the Nick Parade returning for next year or not. But if they do scrap it, it does not by any means mean that they do not intend to keep Nickelodeon around for some time to come. -
Well, the only "new attraction" that the park received in 1978 was a new shooting gallery arcade in Rivertown. The reason was because they were preparing The Beast at that point. Don`t count your chickens before they hatch as far as a new attraction goes.

Cedar Fair has issued a press release about the Amusement Today`s Golden Ticket awards. The release mentions both Cedar Point in the headline, and Kings Island in the tag line for taking top honors in categories. The release then goes onto mention specific ratings of the coasters at all of the Cedar Fair Parks. Read the press release here.

Which begs the question what, if anything, will Carowinds be getting for next year.

Lights out for School of Rock & Nickelodeon Parade

Well, if it is true that the Nick parade is not returning, that is ashame. But I also highly doubt that the park will not replace any of the live entertainment with new shows, and maybe a new parade. I can`t imagine that they would ditch the Nick Parade in favor of a Peanuts themed parade, simply because of the immense popularity of Nick right now. And I doubt we will see a complete stripping of all references to Paramount for next season. Why not spread out some of the costs of transition over several years, which would also make it easier for the full time staff at the park to give them more time. It will certainly be an interesting off season at the park. -
Passes have no gone on sale yet at Kings Island. But they will hopefully be available very soon. Just be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

I kind of surprised that the parade will not be back. It sure seems like a very popular feature at the parks when it is at each park. Of course, it could just be a marketing ploy so that they have something to hype up next spring when the park is gearing up for another year. -
Holiday World hosts Golden Ticket Awards + Winners

Uh, no. Actually, Pepsi is probably the only reason that Coney got the Python in the first place. Whenever the local Pepsi bottling Co. has their picnic at Coney, they get a half hours ERT on it before the park opens to the public. Besides, who can go wrong with Pepsi when unlimited Pepsi products are only $.50 in the employee cafe? -

Riverbend is not actually part of Coney Island. While it does sit on land that once was part of Coney, it is not directly owned by the park. That being said, Coney does provide parking services and concession services to Riverbend. Ie Coney makes some money off of the concerts, and inherently, the rides sales may see some additional sales in the evening hours from people walking through the park a couple hours before a concert starts. When they added Firelite Express as part of the rides line up at Coney in 2004, it was always fun to drive that on the paths back behind Dodgems and adjacent to Riverbend and the picnic groves when there was a concert about to begin. So to answer your question, I would imagine that Riverbend is not considered part of Coney for the reasons I explained above. (Riverbend even sells Coca-Cola, while Coney is Pepsi (hence the Pepsi Python)). -
Well, whatever the park is getting, be it ride or other attraction, they still have plenty of time. They didn`t start any work on Face Off until late September of 1998, with no footings poured by the end of the season, if memory serves me correct. They can pour concrete in below freezing weather, they just have to add special admixtures to speed up the hydration process of the cement. In cold weather, this process slows down and in warm weather, this process speeds up and they actually have to add an admixture to slow down the curing time sometimes. We will learn more of the new attractions in good time. Just be patient!

what is the new ride for next season?
CoastersRZ replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
Well, Coney is getting a "new" ride next year, but it is not from HUSS. But I only know of one of the two things that they are adding next year. Last I heard, they hadn`t quite pinned down there plans for the other new attraction for next season. -

CoastersRZ replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
Yeah, HUSS has been having some serious problems. I have to wonder if Paramount didn`t place an order with S&S for at least one of their parks for 2007. S&S has said that they have rides ordered for next year with at least a couple major parks. And we all know how Paramount likes to buy multiples of the same ride, Ie IJST, FoF, the Zamperla Disk-O, etc. -
Any word from anyone who visited the park this afternoon, if the passes were on sale yet?

Is it really necessary to have seven different polls asking various questions about a PKIC trip??

what is the new ride for next season?
CoastersRZ replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
I believe that they were "evaluating" the theme and names of the new attractions that are to be built at the Paramount Parks in 2007. Meaning that if they were intended to be based off of a Paramount Property, they may opt not to theme it after that property. Especially if they decide to remove references elsewhere in the park to Paramount. -
The park actually played the Star Spangles Banner at park opening the first couple of weeks after September 11th in 2001.

what is the new ride for next season?
CoastersRZ replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
More likely, they won`t do that, because you used to board Flight Commander from the center area. More than likely, they would build a ramp from the queue area up to the ride area along the back. Similar to the sloping exit ramp in the front of the ride. -
What do you mean what is up with it? What exactly is the point of the topic? To start wild and crazy rumors about this ride being removed? Because if that is the case, this thread will be removed in an instant. There is nothing really wrong with the ride. It is still a popular ride, especially on those really hot summer days. Intamin rides are generally very reliable (at least their older water rides appear to be). That "bump" is not annoying. It provides a good little pop of air in the ride. That bump, in my opinion, makes the ride more thrilling than it would be if it was just a straight drop.

what is the new ride for next season?
CoastersRZ replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
I don`t mind the old helicopter pad as much as I do the Eurobungee site. That is a prime location for a flat ride right on the main midway. To have it for a pay attraction, that is only open on some days, and one that does not seem to be very thrilling is not the best idea. I hope that in the future they will put in a ride there, as that side of Coney Mall is dead once you pass the Zephyr. -

Thanks CombatStupendous. How can people think that the park isn`t going to spend any money for improvements for next year, when Cedar Fair has said that they will honor the commitments that Paramount Parks had in place for 2007. -
what is the new ride for next season?
CoastersRZ replied to rollerocasterfreak's topic in Coming Attractions
Why does everyone think that no new rides will be going into PKI next year? Cedar Fair has stated that the Paramount Parks capital expansion orders were already placed and that they intend to honor them. Which means whatever CBS had approved for the capital budget will still be built for 2007. Albeit, the theme, especially if it was to be themed after a Paramount property, will most likely be altered from the one that the ride was originally intended to have. -
Well, I heard that there are plans for the Rock Shop space, but a Fear Fest attraction was not part of the plans.
