Do they usually finish all footers before moving on to vertical construction? I’m having a hard time remembering from years past

I think the park wanted to build a giga, and they thought why spend the extra $10 million on the ride when you would get the same outcome while saving that $10 million. The park probably looks at buying a new rollercoaster through a cost to outcome ratio, in which a higher attendance is the better outcome.
And they can use that money to draw in more people with even more new attractions in later years. Wasn’t MT like 9 million? If an extra 10 feet on our giga would have cost an extra few mil and it came down to a taller ride, OR shorter giga and more money for new upgrades or rides next year, I totally see picking the second option.

Sounds good; did you have a chance to experience Forbidden Frontier?
I did not, unfortunately

Yes, and we entered from the Hotel Breakers entrance at 9am sharp so we were already halfway to the back of the park where SV is, giving us a jumpstart on the people coming in the main entrance. I went opening weekend and got a Fast Lane and it was 100% worth it if you have the extra cash. The ride is not only crazy popular but the loading takes sooooo long to send each train out because of all the checks they have to do on the restraints.
Their FL prices vary so widely here too. We paid $80 each for FLP on opening weekend, but they wanted $155 today (ouch!)

I wonder if they will classify it as a hyper or a giga coaster. YouTube comments seem to be mixed. I'm leaning towards giga because the drop is 301 feet and the park stated they asked CF for a giga coaster. So it's basically "they asked for a giga, they got a giga!" Simple.
A giga because it IS a giga. Everything I can find online (which wasn't that much) says a giga is a coaster with a drop OR lift 300+ ft and that the other, lift or drop) has to also be 300+ ft OR within 10% difference.
So for example -
a drop of 320 with a 290 lift is still a giga, a drop of 350 with a lift of 290 is NOT a giga even though it's bigger because there is more than a 10% difference in height

The thing is your not gonna look at this roller coaster and say, “That’s 296 feet tall” they are just probably gonna announce it at 300
This. There just is no way for the average person to know or be able to tell. And honestly, even though it does irk me a little bit too, 4 feet is just nothing on a 300 ft coaster. Plus your eye level will be at 300 ft so I'd bet money they are just gonna call it 300 even

Drove to Cedar Point today and got there at early ride time, 9am. Immediately got in line for SV and still had to wait 45 mins, but worth it. Then went over and rode MF and that was 5min wait at 9:45 am, still 15 mins before park open. We rode Valravn which said it was a 15 min wait and had a really short line, but we still waited 45 mins because they were allowing more than half of each train to be Fast Lane holders so regular line was moving pretty slow. Rode GK at around noon and was 45 min wait. Very full queue but the line was almost continuously moving, so not too bad. Decided to call it a day after a few more hours of intense heat on an already sunburned back, and we headed home. Be back in a couple weeks!

I think Soak City will get an upgrade next and it will be a water coaster

i would like if we got a wild mouse too. I know they aren't crazy popular but I think they are really fun and a good family/ kid coaster.

The park has every right to ban people from the park for violating its rules. They also don’t want copy cats going back and causing issues. This really isn’t hard to understand. Take all the pictures you want from a plane, tower anywhere really but drone flying over the park which is clearly seen in the video is not allowed by the park. And that drone is clearly over the KI property.
What im trying to tell you is for the park this is a no no and the forum wants to keep a good relationship. Don’t be dense.
I TOTALLY understand why they don't want drones over the park. This is not even remotely the same as flying over someone's property when they just don't want you to. Drones can be purchased by anyone for less than $100. Imagine kids or people who don't know what they are doing flying drones over people when one could fall, either by user error or drone malfunction, and seriously injure a person or falling or flying into a train full of people speeding by on a ride, or landing on a track. Just too many things that could cause serious injury or death if the no drone policy isn't strictly inforced. The high percentage of the general public having drones is still relatively new so laws haven't caught up yet. It is illigal in Cincinnati to fly them over parks for safety reasons, it just don't apply to KI.
I don't know about the other stuff with the fountains people we're talking about, but I 100% understand KIC wanting to maintain a good relationship with the park as far as not hosting drone videos that went against park rules. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you get multiple people doing it, an accident happens, someone is injured (or worse, killed), and then KI is sued. Obviously a plane has a lisenced pilot and is a totally different story, so I'd rather just support people like @sixohdieselrage and @Captain Nemo who get us awesome footage without breaking KI rules.

I believe it. Someone I know irl was there this spring that the lot was flooded in places up to people’s doors. I have a pic I’ll post when I get home

This was from June THIS year. If you park near a storm drain and it gets blocked during a downpour, your car could very well float. Kinda cool memory but sucks for the people who owned those cars.

I would love if they fix the guns and maybe update the decor throughout the ride but please don't remove it. This is by far my kids' favorite ride and I love it on a hot day too.

Kings Island already admitting defeat by declaring that this coaster will be trash. Seriously though, it’s probably a steel drum that the bolts came in. There appears to be a black one next to the T shaped footer.
It is definitely a blue plastic drum, most likely trash can. If you ride racer you can see it very clearly. Looks exactly like this

Park today was busy, but not bad.
DB was 12 min wait
Votex walk on
FOF was 35 min wait
MT was 5 min wait
Banshee walk on
Soak City wave pools were packed and the tube slides had long wait, but all other water slides we only waited around 5 min each

Anyone know what will happen to the tent that houses the floats? It's empty now

The supports for the storage shed will be light gray, not blue.
Yeah that's what I thought too. I don't think it's a support but I'm not close enough to confirm yet but if you look closely at the picture it has a white lid so I'm guessing water cooler. Can't believe I skipped going to Soak City to get a picture of that crap lol

Looks like a trash can
That's what I was thinking too but too far away to confirm what it is. I thought the supports would be silver/white not blue so I'm doubting that is a support but hard to tell from this distance
getting ready to ride racer aget a better look. Nothing on the fence

A couple of people went to get them the first time. One of them I know was @RuthlessAirtime, the other one will have to forgive me because I don't remember lol.
I also remember @Bansheeback being one. His name is the watermark on the copy of the blueprints most people have

I mean maybe? But the GP doesn't join pages like this. They hear it on the news then forget about it the next day. I mean some GP may become a future enthusiasts. Could just be me that thinks the GO would benefit from a teaser campaign.
Even those who hear about it on the news would have to be local to KI. I live almost an hour away and everyone in my town I grew up with goes to KI somewhat regularly, local schools do field trips there etc but yet none of these people would ever see the cincinnati news or know who John Matarese is.

That's true. I guess I forget about John Matarese because I don't live in Cincinnati so I don't ever watch the local news there

Who knows, when the teaser show up, they could literally just be a bunch of posters saying when the announcement will be. There may not be any real teasers, and we’ll end up just having an early announcement. Everyone knows mostly everything about the ride anyways.
You would be surprised how many people don't know, or at least don't know what kind of coaster. I'm in multiple theme park/roller coaster groups on FB and regularly people will ask about if the rumor of a new KI ride is true and then everyone argues about what type etc it will be. People think it will be a wing coaster and be called Firehawk lol and I've also heard that it was 'confirmed' that it was a giant wild mouse, and these are by supposed coaster enthusiasts too, not just locals
can you just imagine a wild mouse the size of the clearing? Lol So yeah, I would say the GP has no idea what we are getting. Carnivale just ended though so I'm still holding out hope for teasers this week.

As much as I would love a space theme, I hoping for something different otherwise x-base will be too 'match-y' for lack of a better word, and everything would have to be space themed in that area in the future. I don't really like the Air Force/military theme, although I think that is likely if it's not space themed. I would personally love a mad scientist theme. In the hut could be bubbling beakers and fog machines, green lighting. Some kind of explosion or experiment gone wrong. Maybe it's the scientist that has been doing experiments on the aliens in FOF running this new lab...
But realistically I think it's gonna be a space theme. Themeing is the main reason I'm hoping for teasers and I hope they don't waste the opportunity to give us some good ones.
