I was talking about all of the rides, not just Delirium. Look, you do realize that the only way to give any type of size restriction that is fair an consisent is to have a black and white line. If it was up to ride ops on the ride at that time, there would probably be far too much inconsistentcy in who rides and who doesn't. Different people have different opinions on what is acceptable or not, and different people have different ways of getting people to fit in.
-
Someone much too short to ride could also fit into a harness comfortably. Does that mean we're going to let them ride? No way.

2 stupid posts on the same day - there were only 2 posts that day, and I had one of them. I don't see that as jumping to conculsions.

I take offense at that. The only stuff I am spitting out here is stuff I learned at PKI training, and in my experience in the parking lot. I worked with several of the PKI officers personally when I was in the parking lot, we still do occasionally in ride ops with line jumpers and such. So don't come on here and act like I don't know what the heck I'm talking about!! DragonLord would probably know a little better than I would, though. He is still in security.

Yes Mason PD and Deerfield Twp PD assist with at least the parking lot. I believe they help out a lot with inside-the-park matters also. I was once personally given a subpoena by a Mason cop on SOB last year - he came and asked where I was, scared the pants of of Drew. I've seen Ohio Highway Patrol officers in uniform at several park events as well. I certainly don't know for sure what the "agreement" is if any, but I know that PKI is legally considered part of Mason (the trial was in Mason city court), so I would think that Mason PD has some authority here. This is probably the same as the police in any other theme park (like Cedar Point, for example has a very similar one), CVG airport, or a college campus (UC, XU, OSU, etc). Do they occasionally ask for "back-up" from other municipalities? Probably. I would think that its hard to have 10 cops control 10,000 people - and thats on a slow day! Besides, I think pretty much all cops are doing pretty much the same thing whereever they are. I would think that there is somewhat of a brotherhood within any police force - kinda like what you see with firefighters.

Yeah I think the head of CBS, Les Moonves or something, is the other co-COO. Hopefully this will at least mean that Paramount will be able to make a movie that doesn't flop within the next year or so. The Perfect Score was their last good movie, I think.

Well, the offices are really not very different from any other office you might see - computers, keyboards, phones, all that nice stuff. The area manager's office can get kinda hectic sometimes, though. I think Discovery Channel did something like you were talking about on Cedar Point. And yeah, it is kinda cool in the rose bowl.

I think that you guys would like to watch block tests, or probably parking trains. I've seen the inside of PKI's communications HQ and security HQ, that was kinda cool. Maybe you'd be a little impessed by the PLC rooms. Other than that, though, there really is not that much to see in those oh-so-secret "Authorized Personell Only" areas. Unless you like dumpsters. On Son of Beast, all that's really back there is grass - grass thats about as tall as I am.

What's the funniest thing you've ever seen at Pki?

SOB, combined with the head of a rather unfortunate guest, killed a bird this week. Both my bar checkers were freaking out (I was driving). -
What is the most stupid complaint you have heard?

Questions that have been asked a Billion Times
SOB/Gun Steve-O replied to DegenRider's topic in Kings Island
Q: How old do you have to be to work at PKI? A: Generally 16. Q: Can you guys get me a job at PKI? A: No. Just fill out an application at the HR office at the park - its just to the right of the main gate before you walk in. Q: Can you tell me some of the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on at PKI, or about why a ride was broken down, or about an injury/death I heard/read about occuring at PKI? A: No. Employees are placed under a gag order about these sorts of things. This includes ride breakdowns and any type of medical situation. Q: What is PKI getting for next year? A: Nobody here knows - and if they do, they won't tell you (refer to previous answer). Q: You guys get free tickets, right? Can I have some? A: Get in line. Q: Why can't I (insert random action that is prohibited at PKI) at PKI? A: Odds are its for the saftey of you, us, and other guests, or sometimes because it makes many other guests angry. -
The folks in the black shirts are employed by the park, and they are full time police officers. They have the same state-mandated training that any other police officer in Ohio must have. They carry guns, mace, and all that nice stuff. They are referred to as "king" units. I think there are less than 10 of them, though. I got to know a couple of them fairly well when I worked in the parking lot. Their purpose is to be a police officer and deal with the stuff cops need to deal with at the park, and of course to provide backup to secuirty. They also patrol the park in the off-season to protect against vandals and such. The park also occasionally uses the Mason PD, Ohio Highway Patrol, and Warren County Sheriff/Deerfield Township PD. I think the Mason cops they use are School Resource Officers the rest of the year.

Person filed a complaint because we threw them out for line jumping. -
Believe ir or not, but weather makes a differance
SOB/Gun Steve-O replied to PKICoasterFreek's topic in Kings Island
The temperature thing is definately true. Rain also has some effect on SOB - I think it makes it a little smoother and faster. We just have to run the train empty a couple times after a storm to push the excess water off the track. -
I think its a matter of when you buy them, not when you actually process it and get your card - could be wrong though.
-
I'd say about 1-2 miles. You guys forget that a mile is 5280 feet. Drop Zone and Tower are each a little over 300 feet - by far the tallest things at the park. That adds up to a little more than a tenth of a mile.
-
Even considering that I'm an AZer, I don't see how you can vote against The Beast for something like this.

I'm in Calculus AP. We were just cut loose, didn't get any assignment.

For as much bad stuff I say about the Nut, I have to say I did like this. Today everyone in my math class and a couple physics and stat classes (around 75 people I think) went to PKI for Math/Science Day. I was the only person in my school who didn't have to pay to get in so I was like to everybody. Anyways, I wait behind the rope to get into da Zone until 10. The rope drops at 10 and I amlost got trampled by the crowds. I was told that some people were thrown off of rides for running to them, though I did not witness this. Anyways, first I try to get on Skyflyer, but they're still testing. I try Gun, but they were apparently a man short early that morning, so I leave. I notice my friends went over to Delirium. So I wait for them to get out. I've ridden it enough times before and the line was really long (full que, out into the park). So we get out and I go with one of my peeps to Sling Shot. That ride rocks! Then we go to Racer, notice that recaR is closed, notice that Racer has like a 1 hour line, so we go to the ship. Most boring ride I've ever been on. Then food. Some of my buddies head over to Skyline to eat, I go to Oscar's. I run into one of my old buddies from parking and we exchange stories (notably the one about the radio getting dropped into the toilet) to the disgust of his co-workers (he works in HR/Security now, Metal Detection that morning). I discuss the day so far with a couple SOB/Gun peeps, then its off to the bumper cars. It is what it is, not bad. Then its with my friend who's like never ridden a coaster in his life to Top Gun - the jet coaster. Only about a 10 minute wait as usual. I notice the signs I put up in the driver booth are gone. I ask Drew about this. He took them down and I am very angry about it. My buddy liked Gun enough that we waited 45 minutes to ride The Beast, and then he like dies. I grab a quick ride on SOB, get my legs crushed, then meet everyone up back at Tower and take a ride up. Pretty cool view. Then time to come home, write my first TR, and prepare for Jammin on Main tomorrow - gonna see the Offspring.
-
I'm going with my school. Might come back that night, though.
-
I know that a coaster is impossible to move. I'm just throwing out ideas for no particular reason here.

Sure, SOB breaks down every... **gasp**heavy breathing**gagging sounds**severe pain in chest**screams and writhes in pain**falls to floor unconcious**wakes up in hospital bed**sees boss standing over me with pink slip**boss then holds up copy of lawsuit against me** Sorry to be graphic, but we're under a strict gag order about these sorts of things.

1. Sunday was Gold Pass BAFFD, it doesn't count, Sparky! Heck, Gun was out near the tunnel Sunday, an occasion that happens about once every cicada period. 2. Short lines don't mean unpopular. Have you ever considered that Top Gun is a much shorter ride than SOB, or that Express is shorter than Beast. Vortex usually doesn't have much of a line either - but it is still very popular. 3. Even after that, my vote goes to Express (plese don't shoot me Drew!). At the very least move it if you can. I consider Express to be a kiddie ride. It has only a 44" height requirement and only goes about 35 mph. Kidde rides belong in HB, not AZ.
-
1. Drop Zone and Delirium are the only rides with a max height not in HB. That's 2 rides. If you're under 54", you can't ride Face/Off, Delirium, TR:TR, FOF, and probably a couple other rides I can't think of right now. That's at least 4. They get no discount. 2. I think that once you're over a certain age you're not eligible for the kiddie discount - no matter how short/tall you are. Could be wrong though. 3. I understand your logic definately, but this would open up a political can of worms which I doubt the park would want to be involved with. (IE - should they give a discount to people too fat to ride some rides, or who have a disability that prevents them from riding some rides?)
