I think that you have WAY too much time on your hands if you consiously think about these things.
-
If Winterfest could be done in a good and profitable manner, they never would have cancelled it. I don't think it will ever come back.
-
Actually, I think its in the handbook, and you have to sign the thing that says that you read and understood the handbook. I don't think they let you work until you have.
-
First of all, we despise midnight closings. Second of all, KI's schedule is always "subject to change." At the beginning of last year, I think they didn't have midnight closings in October, either.
-
I don't think they let you work there if you don't sign the gag order - I think I did.
-
Look if you really want to know the secrets to Top Gun - or any other ride at PKI for that matter - just come and work there. We'll tell you all the secrets - and then immediately put a gag order on you so you can't tell anybody except the other people who work there that already know about it.
-
I just know that it costs more than I make.
-
None of those rides are going anywhere any time soon.

There is no Arrow Dynamics anymore. It's just S&S Power
-
Now in all honesty, what kind of a response did you expect on a site dedicated to Kings Island? Come on, we ARE the only park that ever gets mentioned on these top roller coaster shows on the travel/discovery channels.
-
OK, that's probably a much more simple and correct explanation.

Well, Drew: If you remember the microeconomics class that you kept complaining about in the post-season, you should remember the law of diminishing marginal returns. It states that once you reach a certain point, it is actually detremental to produce more of a product, because the revenue per unit (a ride in this case) AKA the marginal revenue will go down. Roller coasters cost a lot of money to build, and I'm guessing the marginal revenue of Arrow was not that high in the first place - how much money can you make when you only sell one or two units a year anyway? So, to answer your question, they were probably making too many rides, to the point that it became unprofitable to keep the company running. Or maybe the CEO just went out and screwed everybody like they did with Enron or WorldCom.

Coming in 2030, the GrandSon of Beast!

I didn't know that PKI was selling Cobra in the first place. I don't really see why either. Cobra was removed because it was becoming a hassle for the mechanics - it kept breaking down. Why would anyone want a ride that was removed for that reason?
-
And I thought KI had stories...
-
No they don't - you must have been there on one of the volunteer days or something. They normally have the blue shirts, too.
-
Viacom is a huge conglomorate multinational company. Do you really think they're going to turn down money?
-
Yeah I can believe that. At my school, we've had like 7 false fire alarms in the last 4 weeks. Cincy FD must be ****ed at us.
-
On a day-to-day basis, the worst thing that happens is confronting the parent of the kid who isn't tall enough to ride. Man, do they get ****ed. The worst thing that has ever happened to me on the job? Yeah, that would fall under the protection of the gag order. Having BoObKiNoS as my supervisor has definately been an interesting experience. Yes, he is the SOB/Top Gun head supervisor.

Past shows or Movies Filmed in Kings Island
SOB/Gun Steve-O replied to WildCat's topic in Kings Island
We don't use billy-goats and we have this special spray that makes scraping gum off really easy. Actually, sometimes early in the morning in the parking lot they have these big dump trucks with giant vaccuum cleaners attached to them - I think they go around the park too overnight, and clean up a lot of the big stuff. Those things are kind of cool. But other than that, its just sweep it away, throw it in the dumpster, and wash it down with a hose. -
Yeah - did you hear about what some of these guys from ODOT or something said about 75 - they would have to make it like 5 or 6 lanes on each side. Never gonna happen. And back on topic, I actually find it amazing that they still manage to open in April and October - that whole season changing time, the weather is always nuts.
-
Just watch. For training in March, its gonna be like 10 degrees, just like this year. And at least the 275 construction is pretty much done. Now they just need to replace the Brent Spence Bridge - darn.
-
I don't know why so many people here seem to be obsessed with the train valleying. First of all, I think its pretty much physically impossible for the train to valley. As far as I know, that has never happened. Second of all, I'm probably not allowed to answer that question because of the gag order ride ops has for these sort of things.
-
Yes, the computer eases the train in. We just hold down on a button and wait until it stops. It's pretty much humanly impossible to stop the train in pretty much the exact same place every time, when you think about it - especially considering how you have to line it up with the gates. No, the computer does not control the restraint system. We have a switch in the booth for the restraints and gates. Being the driver (the guy in the booth) is fairly easy. You just dispatch the train, bring in the next train, and wait for the ride to break down.

You guys are all talking about Arrow coasters. Arrow Dynamics no longer exists. It's S&S power rides now. The website has no mention of Arrow - or any Arrow rides - anywhere on it.
