They made quick work of the wave hill and I think 4 pieces went up in 3 hours or so on it. They had staged all the pieces yesterday so they could toss it up today. Here is my view

Here was yesterday’s action should anyone want to catch up. After I finally get the children off to school I’ll swing by, get the next piece and check on Vortex

Ill see if I can zoom in enough on some of my current shots to show where it was bolted into the the spine. Well, after zooming in on those temp supports on can see they are beat up a bit and look to be a pressfit? All images are deep crops on existing photos I’ve taken.

They were both up as of 330 today

Thankfully in years past it hasn’t been an ACE only event. Hopefully CC and/or GOCC is still going to be allowed to come.

I was going to lump it into the next update, but if is what the people want.

It’s going to take a lot of skill and luck to capture it from the outside then, doesn’t mean it won’t be impossible.

I got it. There is a support hidden back there it’s resting on but they had to lift this piece over the currently large support so it came up over the trees.

Well, that is what the picture shows.

I couldn’t tell and still can’t tell if that is track or a boom. We will find out soon enough. edit: on the original file I zoomed in and it is indeed track. Also, I’m going to guess it goes up before noon.

They are currently welding now, lower right hand side coming into the helix.

The lift hill, bank into the loops and loops can still be seen from Kings Island Dr and I71. She has survived another day...

Fair enough. I’m not sure what I’ll do ultimately when it comes time to renew or join another club. As just another member with a short time in service my expectations across the board will be measured.

Truth be told I’m not concerned with either being reported. I just though they may keep their foot on the pedal and give the masses what they are wanting. I fully intend to get the last piece myself and the hills of Vortex coming down from vantage points around KI .

No idea, I didnt live in the area and KI wasnt on my radar. This is just a guess on my part. The media has been in and out since the announcement of the 2020 schedule so why not for the completion of their largest investment to date(and the now much beloved coaster that is coming down)?

My money is on Wed afternoon or do like they did for the top off and have it first thing Thursday morning. My reasoning is this, They will want the press there and I have a feeling Vortex goes down around the same time. They kill two birds with one stone and the media gets them both.

No worries, I didnt have hard facts except what I saw and pictures I had. They came in like an army at the end of last week and were all over Monday. So Im not surprised by the timeline. Now, I do want to say I saw in a recent article with Chad being interviewed but have not successfully been able to find it again but outside of that I think there have been strong rumors it was O'Rouke with nothing in stone. The Sky High thing since the beginning seemed off to me, but such is life.

I do not believe that I am above reproach around here nor a highly respected member. With all the time Ive spent recently around KI Ive seen the the O'Rouke trucks hauling in equipment and leaving empty. I ran into a few of them at Wendy's along with Sky High on a bathroom break. Anyhow, as the posts above show and pictures that I have (never shared as I figured this would be more tight lipped around here ) can and will show O'Rouke is doing The Vortex tear down. Also those pictures were taken down over on the Facebook page but Im sure they are on Reddit now, so that can of worms is forever open. I cant believe the moderator team of the KISPH page let those sneak by.

I’m sure the trains are under lock and key away from where an eagle eyed enthusiasts might spot it with the webcam. I’d also guess they want to keep them nice for media to take pictures of when they finally get mounted on the track. Also here is that from behind shot of the helix.
