Actually, no. Taryn and Angie Arnold both frequently measured little guests for wristbands. And last I checked, both were in GR at the time. Neither is still with the park, which might explain why this sensible procedure is apparently no longer the way of doing business. In any event, if it's not being done, it's not being done. Perhaps this is another thing Cedar Fair can put on their list of things to consider... Sorry. . .

Me and so many others want King Cobra back!

But at the time it was painted with no exposed ends from being dismantled. . . It was also meticulously maintained. . ., whereas for the past several years it has been totally ignored. -
It may not even be final after it is announced. After all, CBS announced they were having Winterfest this year and even sold tickets. . . Then there is the matter of the coaster named Mantis...that is not what was announced!
-
There have been those of us who have been trying to say the handwriting is on the wall for some time. Still, we won't know for sure until a refund announcement is made. . . and that might be a while.

I don't know about that. When I want MaXair, I go to Cedar Point! -

And we all know just how much more reliable Delirium has been that pesky King Cobra. . . -
What breaks at the midcourse? Oh, you mean brakes. Ain't gonna happen. Either under Paramount or the new management.

You could just go to Holiday World where the pop is free... The Interpreter....running for the door

More on How Cedar Fair Does Things
The Interpreter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Not true. Under CBS, yes shows were greatly reduced. But the typical Paramount show put the typical Cedar Point show to shame. Now, I know, Woofer, you would compare the old Kings Island shows. The fact of the matter is, that with the exception of Busch, Dollywood and Branson, Disney and about two of the Six Flags parks, no one else puts on those kinds of shows in theme parks today. When did YOU last see a show at Cedar Point or any other Cedar Fair park? I think you have no idea just how almost incomparably bad they are. . . Example? The Lumberjack Show, as seen at Geauga or Kings Island this year. World class entertainment? I think not. -
From an email received from Cedar Point just now: So, the shows, such as they are, close that early up there. I still think before it is over, many are going to look back on the Paramount (but not the CBS) days of Kings Island as the good old days.

Methinks the days of stand-ups, which I saw as mostly a novelty, are mostly gone. . . -
You can pay considerably more to stay there than what Great Wolf Lodge plans on charging in Mason, by the way. . .

That's what I thought about TOGO...besides, Paramount Parks (and Las Vegas's New York, New York Casino) have no issues with getting parts for their parks in Virginia and Canada. . . -
It was never intended for "regular folk." The people who go there will, in many cases, not be people who otherwise would have visited Kings Island. Many had in the past, but had no desire to go back. Others WILL now go to Kings Island who otherwise would not have. The campground probably drew few who would not otherwise go to the park. Yes, there will be another campground some day. Almost without doubt. But if Viacom had not thought that the GWL was a good deal for the park, or at least for Mr. Redstone, they would not have cut the deal they did. And the 16 percent CBS interest in GWL was offered to Cedar Fair, as we learned recently. They turned it down.
-
Very hoity-toity. And very expensive. To put it mildly. Let's say it's gentrified.
-
Yep. I'm quite sure the people who stay at Great Wolf Lodge will spend less money in the park collectively than the people who stayed in the campground spent in the park and to camp. Not.

Kentucky Kingdom Troubles?
The Interpreter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It is a rather radical turn of events from Mr. Shapiro's insistence at the beginning of the season that this Six Flags management was NOT going to be discounting like wild and giving away the gate, don't you think? -

And that would even include the post above (or below) yours! -
From the Courier Journal weekend events log, (emphasis added): I don't remember them EVER doing this before....

Do you think Son of Beast will be torn down?
The Interpreter replied to PKIVortex's topic in KI Polls
A record like an industry record for number of days it operates in its first year versus number of days it is closed would be nice. Kings Island doesn't really need, nor will it get--in my opinion, a ride like Son of Beast, Volcano: The Blast Coaster, Hypersonic, Kingda Ka, Top Thrill Dragster, Deja Vu, etc., which are all noted for their very spotty operational records the first years they were open, and for some of them, to this day! -
And Paramount Parks has processed those passes during the remainder of the season, and let new buyers use them for the remainder of the season and the following season. Cedar Fair does not process passes the season before, rather they sell vouchers...which at some parks CAN be bought before the season ends, but they can be neither processed nor used until just before the new season begins. Always makes a trip to Knotts interesting. Some years they will let you in on an unprocessed voucher (which technically they are not supposed to), others they make you buy a Knotts Season Pass (or try to) and tell you to get a refund on your voucher from, say, Cedar Point. Knott's won't issue the refund, and the Cedar Point voucher may take up to a year and a half to get a refund (don't ask me how I know this). And the line to get a voucher processed at the beginning of the season at Cedar Point can easily be three hours if you are lucky to six if you are not. Welcome to Cedar Fair's idea of customer service, at least when it comes to admissions and pass processing. I have said it before and I will say it again. Paramount Parks did quite a few things right, some better than anyone else in the industry (season pass processing is one of them). People ARE going to miss Paramount Parks. Or maybe Cedar Fair WILL wisely adopt some of Paramount Parks' best practices. Time will tell.

a. The brakes have always been there, but as has been said, PKI did not use them for a while after the removal of the OTSR's. FOF ran with two and even three trains during that period...and use of those brakes was not necessary to do so. b. Joker's Jinx and Poltergeist, the two outdoor clones of the Flights of Fear, do NOT even have the brakes there; they run two trains and do so quite successfully. The blocking brakes for those rides are far later in the ride...
