Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
Perhaps THIS is what you were talking about, RailRider? http://www.thrillnetwork.com/stories_view....edar_fair_.html

CF Reports Early Season Results...
We must remember there is still a very small chance this deal will not go through. It isn't much of a chance, but the possibility DOES still exist...

Lots of info needed please!
MOST AAA's will sell tickets to anyone who wants to buy them. In that function, they are acting as a travel agent, and do not care if you are a member or not. SOME AAA's will only sell to members. I'd try it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! And they aren't all the same. Prices and policies differ from club to club...

TopGun 1999 ?
Until very recently, no one at Paramount or Paramount Parks wanted to admit they ran any amusement parks. They were too busy calling them theme parks, pushing the movies connection, etc. For the longest time, they wouldn't allow the usage of the parks' names without the obligatory Paramount's (or Paramount, in the case of Canada) before it. They finally loosen up a bit and get comfortable with who they are....and then they are gone. Sigh.

Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
I hear you, but I still cannot imagine why CBS would care about who manages Cedar Fair, once they have been paid the cash they wanted out of this deal. CBS isn't even the owner of the Nick licensing or Paramount theming. Viacom is. In any event, it is all interesting, and we will watch with great interest.

Speed Pass?
Well, given that Cedar Fair did away with their speed pass in favor of selling VIP experience type tickets for scads of money...I don't think you will see a speed pass system at Kings Island in the near future.

TopGun 1999 ?
We wouldn't pick on you if you didn't matter!

SOB Fire "Scare"
False Alarm. The ride was back in operation by 5:35p.m, according to local fire officials.

TopGun 1999 ?
Don't be. The park SHOULD be. There were literally all different kinds of these shirts, all with the same error. I like your picture of it, too: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/pkiguy1/deta...scd.jpg&.src=ph

TopGun 1999 ?
Why does it also say "The Jet Coaster"? Because the shirt was meant for Carowinds.... And someone just slapped "Paramount's Kings Island" across the bottom and sent them to PKI. To the merchandiser, a coaster is a coaster is a coaster, I guess. I pointed this out last weekend. I, too, was amazed. But then, perhaps it is just a puff piece (an aside meant for WooferBearATL) (If newspapers don't have to be right when they write about coasters and parks, why should parks care about accuracy when they sell stuff? After all, it's just coasters, right?)

Wow...Just, wow
So close to right is good enough? Just because the subject is parks? Sorry, no sale. At least not here. It's either right or it isn't. Sloppy reporting is sloppy reporting. And that was darn sloppy reporting. Or are you saying the Sandusky audience doesn't deserve accuracy?

Racers
I doubt the park sees the absence of those hills as a problem. Especially since the average guest does not, and correcting the 'problem' would cost money, substantial money, and for what? Besides, I still think maintenance expense was also reduced by this change.

Racers
The trains had to be modified for the new brakes....thus, the rolling stock change.

Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
I am quite certain that will be with the help of SOME of the current staff. Some will want to leave, some will want to stay, and some will get left... That's the way it always is. I doubt this will be any different.

And you can bring your own strollers, if you wish. There is even a stroller entrance line. Based on my experience, there are both more economical and nicer places to stay than the Kings Island Resort and Conference Center aka the Kings Island Inn. The Inn is no longer owned by the park, and hasn't been for quite some time now.

Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
Nothing to forgive you for! If Mr. Kinzel is agreeing to stay longer, that IS big news, and, as far as I am concerned, at least, very good news!
-
Wow...Just, wow
Perhaps a Cinci Enquirer writer, one who is NOT a park expert, should wander up Cedar Point way and write a similar screed. Might be amusing! Then Mr. Kinzel could sit down and read both....
-
Wow...Just, wow
When much that is written is either flat out wrong or very misleading, I doubt that I will give much weight to the 'tidbits.' At most, this is the perspective of a guest at KI who had not been there before, a guest who has much reverence for things at Cedar Point; a reverence he darn sure better have, given who he is employed by. It also must be rememebered that the tactic of poking gentle fun at those yokels who live 'over there' is a timeworn one, one that generally works well. Heck, we are talking about this article, which we might not be otherwise...
-
Wow...Just, wow
I'd be willing to do that, if the Sandusky Register writer also takes a step back and takes Cedar Point off the high pedestal he apparently keeps it on. Then again, he knows where his paycheck comes from. . . He isn't paid to be unbiased...he's paid to write for the local Sandusky audience, a task he does quite well. For instance: * Cedar Point also sells beer. Unlike at Kings Island, one can wander all over Cedar Point with open containers of beer, last I checked. * Cedar Point also has commercialization all over the park, just for different things. Lastly, it must be remembered that soon, for that Sandusky writer and for us all, Cedar Point and Kings Island will be kin.

Wow...Just, wow
I'm still trying to get over Scooby Doo, built years before Beast was ever thought of, being a miniature Beast. And no classic rides in Nick? What the heck is Fairly Odd? Where oh where is CP's miniature wood? Don't anyone tell them the flume is in Rivertown....or where it came from. Sigh. I see this as a typical article about parks by someone who knows virtually nothing about parks, cares even less about parks and proves it, in spades. And Fishers is an Indy suburb. I have many friends there. It's a nice place.

Racers
"They" SAID it had to do with Outer Limits Flight of Fear's entrance...but I doubt that. I think it either reduced maintenance costs and/or was needed for the conversion from the skid brakes. Most likely the latter...

Breaking News About Cedar Fair Acquisition
Right, CaastersRZ! In fact, his contract runs until January 2008. Nothing in the deal with CBS that has been made public requires he stay until then (and just why would CBS care? This is a cash deal...that's what they wanted...out, and with cash to pay off some of their own debt). Instead, Mr. Kinzel's current Cedar Fair contract requires/allows him to stay until at least January 2008. And his pride and his expertise will no doubt have him stay longer, provided his health and life situation allow that. Nor is this news, much less breaking. This was in the business press nearly a week ago: http://www.crainscleveland.com/apps/pbcs.d...26021/1025/2020 That all being said, hopefully the executive bench at Cedar Fair (and Paramount Parks) is a lot more than one deep. They are going to need a LOT of really good people to pull this off. And some people WILL leave. They always do when something like this happens. Some by choice. . .

Racers
Well, that too! Seriously, what I meant was that the final hill was removed from each side some time ago...first the forward side one year, then the backwards the next. This was during the mid-late nineties. I think that is what you are missing...

How often do Delirium and SOB close?
Virtually all the Kings Island flats cycle longer than the flats do at Cedar Point. It will be interesting to see what effect, if any, the acquistion has on this. That being said, if anything, MaXair seems to have a longer cycle than Delirium, in my experience.

Metal Detectors
I don't remember much, if any, public relations problems when Cedar Fair removed them from the former Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. Then again, there didn't seem to be any bad security incidents thereafter. The nightmare would be if there were an incident involving a fire arm inside the park after the removal of the detectors.
