...now on calling about buying something from park storage...I have no idea on how that works. If it were easy to do, half of the old props they have wouldn't be there.

Especially considering Prowler received the Golden Ticket for Best New Ride of 2009 by Amusement Today. Anyway, before the 06 incident with the old trains, the best trick to combat Sonny's roughness was to simply ride in the middle row (the same can be said for both Racer and Beast). Of course, once the old trains were replaced with the new two-row trains, it was now next to near impossible to get a smooth ride, unless you decide to sit in the very front row. However, I always felt that the roughest part of the ride was the bottom of the Rose Bowl; everything else was fine. I'd much rather them take out the entire Rose Bowl and go for a layout similar to The Voyage up to the MCBR (airtime hills and overbank turns). Of course, that won't ever happen (especially if the Apollo deal goes through), but it's nice to dream once in a blue moon.... EDIT: The loop was also my absolute FAVORITE part of the ride as well. Just the sheer size of it and had such a smooth transition in and out of it (plus it never lost speed as it neared the top of the inversion) was insane on all fronts.

(Dumb) Question: Is it feasible to relocate wooden coasters from one spot to another?
-
I kinda figured that, but considering Gilroy Gardens is listed on the Cedar Fair website, I just thought I'd add it onto the list.
-
Of the amusement parks Cedar Fair owns (including the five former Paramount Parks), the ones crossed out are the ones I see Apollo axing from the lineup: - Valleyfair - Worlds of Fun - Michigan's Adventure - Dorney Park - Gilroy Gardens - Knott's Berry Farm - Cedar Point - California's Great America - Carowinds - Kings Dominion - Canada's Wonderland - Kings Island ...I'm kinda torn on the idea of the whole chain of parks being completely split from each other, as then the perk of going to other parks in the chain for free (albeit with a hefty $160 price tag for a platinum pass) will be gone with the wind. However, considering each park would be owned individually, investments toward new attractions and general upkeep would skyrocket (so to speak) since they won't have to worry about speading their money out amongst multiple properties (how Paramount managed to give nearly every one of their parks a new attraction every season still befuddles me to this day). Still, there's even the threat of a few parks being shut down like Geauga Lake (Michigan's Adventure and Valleyfair look like possible candidates), which I'm not particularly thrilled about.

Cedar Point raised their ticket prices up one dollar a few days prior to the Apollo acquisition: http://www.ohio.com/entertainment/78944097.html So it's up in the air as to whether or not the other parks followed suit prior to this and have yet to announce it, or are planning on raising prices at a later date.

While working in Park Services earlier this year I came across a young couple making...'whoopie'...in the supply closet of the restroom in front of SoB. They quickly closed the door and left me dumbfounded for a second. I phoned in Security, then the guy in the closet came out and asked if I could give him an extra 20 minutes to finish up. Park Police would be there in less than three, so to keep the two in the general vicinity I told him he could and he raced back in. That's when the cops came and escorted them out of the park. I also had an incident back in '05 where someone was attempting to smuggle weed in and out of the park using empty bags of VoBan (vomit absorption product) in the restroom right next to Vortex. A pan & broomer and two other guests were involved, and I didn't get to leave until 12:30 in the morning because of filling out a witness statement.

Carowinds Planet Snoopy Names Revealed
RingMaster replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Oh, that's odd, because I seem to recall a giant banner for the movie FACE OFF on the building attached to the Paramount Theater right next to the ride. If the posters from Face/Off and Drop Zone weren't in front of or next to their prospective rides, no one would've ever assumed they were based off a Paramount flick. -
If you count the three areas the roamers and creepers are in (Action Zone, Coney, and Rivertown), that bumps it up to 16 attractions with three major scare zones (Dead Zone, Coney Maul, and Ghost Town).
-
Actually the song you're thinking of is "Face Like A Frog" by Danny Elfman off of his Music For A Darkened Theater album. Come to think of it, they need more songs from both Danny Elfman AND Tom Waits; they used to play Cemetery Polka in Coney Maul last year but got rid of it for some reason.

If I'm not mistaken that was a different kind of Drop Tower. I believe the accident occurred on this kind. While our Drop Tower is one of these. Both towers are made by the same company (Intamin), just made in different styles (KI's is a Gyro Drop, KK's was a Giant Drop). However, I think the reason for Drop Tower being down is because the mechanism that releases the 'car' is malfunctioning or broken

Student ID Discounts to HAUNT this Thursday (10/15/09)

If they don't close the WHOLE park down, I can definitely see a few of the mazes closing down early for the night like on Sunday night. You may also notice a shortage of monsters in the later hours of the night on Thursday/Sunday as many are minors and have to leave at 11pm. -
^ Actually, I think the Krusty Krab portion of the sign was removed halfway through the 2007 season. Also, I noticed last Saturday the massive fireworks display during the Haunt right at 10pm. No announcements, nothing. Just 10 minutes of straight fireworks.

Makes you wonder how many are gonna show up when they realize that 1) they have school the next morning, and 2) there's a 40% chance of rain tomorrow night. -
Mr. Kinzel loves his nickels; the more, the merrier! Besides, people LOVE the Dryer and want to stay in it for longer than the 3 1/2 minutes it gives you for only 5 bucks.
-
No human drier, but there IS that Family Dryer all the way in Rivertown for about 500 nickels!

Urgent Scare - Minus the two things I mentioned in the Least Favorite Haunt thread, the atmosphere in the maze is second to none. The lighting, setwork, and talent (let me rephrase that: ESPECIALLY the talent), etc. Tombstone Terrortory - If there's ANY reason you feel you have to go through this one, do it because the talent freakin ROCKS in there. Despite dealing with nothing but crates and boxes, I don't think I've seen as many people run out of the exit of a maze as much as Tombstone. Slaughterhouse - Wow. The music is awesome in there, and although portions of the maze are pretty dark, there are still lots of details to gawk at (particularly the effect of searing heat in the boiler room), and the talent in there are fired up all the time. Club Blood - Aside from the hot chicks strutting their stuff in the actual club portion, a combination of amazing sets and amazing talent (they use the small space to their advantage very well) make the club a must-see attraction. cornSTALKERS - The fog is the biggest advantage the monsters have here, besides the cornstalks themselves (even if the stalks only line one side of the path). During the day, it seems the maze is empty and barren. But at night, it's a whole different experience when the darkness and fog combine to create a really freaky environment to roam through. Massacre Manor - I used to hate this attraction with a passion back when it was redone in 2005 as Fear Street Nights, what with the dark and dreary replaced with bright and cheery and the lack of actual scares. But now, these past two years have seen a surge of scary return to its halls. The only thing I don't like about it is the blood room which doesn't need to be in there (yet another cheap gimmick to further promote the "More Blood, Terror, and Gore" mantra), but other than that, it's back to being one of my favorites. Trail of Terror - Nothing beats the feeling of being alone in the middle of the woods. At first, the lighted and paved trails make it seem that the maze has gone a little soft on you and you'll see too much, but the trail is virtually the only thing lit up throughout the whole maze, leaving the many crazy Inbred Undeads to fly in and get you.

I dislike Urgent Scare for two reasons: 1) The photo-op in the first room - So you're going through bloody curtains and all of a sudden, you're in the middle of a riot scene. Town citizens are beaten, bloody, and possibly infected, all making their way towards the hospital at the end of the park. A badly damaged medical van sits in front of the hospital, its emergency lights the only form of illumination for the entire first scene. The screams of the angry mob get louder and louder as you inch closer and closer. A lone victim (maybe even a member of the hospital executive branch) has hung himself for all to see. The scene has already been set for an amazing journey into what could possibly a traumatically horrific romp through a hospital under siege by a deadly virus (possibly a new rage-style strand of the H1N1 disease). And then... ...you enter a Kodak photo-op room with two Kaman's managers in normal, blood and virus-free, business attire. ....are you serious? Way to take people out of the experience there. With the amount of overhype surrounding the event, calling it the "the most immersive Halloween experience around", it's very contradicting (and in some cases, insulting) to take people out of an immersive Halloween experience by including a photo opportunity INSIDE a maze (no monsters are a part of the picture either, not surprisingly) in an attempt to get even more money from them. I think gouging money from customers by endangering the lives of fellow scareactors via letting drunks run rampant throughout the park with no restrictions on how many beers they drink after charging them $8 a beer is enough, don't you think? 2) The decontamination spray tent at the beginning of the second outdoor scene - Last year marked the debut of Urgent Scare, one of the most popular and thematically-designed attractions Kings Island had ever done for the Haunt. Two things, however, kept it from truly being an iconic experience: the last third of the massive (3,000 square feet, to be exact) maze was virtually empty scenery-wise, and the decontamination tent at the end of the indoor portion of the maze. Rather than offer a nice fine mist of water, guests were showered with torrential rain (a bit harsh, but that's what it felt like) which, combined with the already cold October weather, equaled a frozen and angry body. Fast forward to this year. It would be assumed that they would learn from their mistakes and guest complaints about getting rained on inside the tent, and either tweak it to finally shoot off a fine mist or axe it and use low-density foggers instead, right? ....riiiiiight?

Yeah, Carmen TOTALLY made it into Hollywood and is very famous for roles in some truly amazing films such as Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie, Date Movie, and, of course, Disaster Movie.

Hey, Happy Four-Days-Until-He-Turns-Nine Birthday to your son then!

I had actually been there since 9 AM that morning getting all the restrooms ready for later that night. No sooner than I clocked out and walked over to the theater and sit for the next hour and a half (roughly a quarter after 3), I got a call saying they would be closing the park down due to inclement weather.
