*facepalm* I remember that, back when they would close the park at, like, 3 in the afternoon on Saturdays in the preseason because it was too cold outside. But it made sense, though, considering most, if not all, of the attractions require the temperature to be at least over 50 degrees (guesstimate) to operate properly.

Pitch black on FOF is the scariest experience EVER at the park. I think it's even scarier than riding Beast at night. With The Beast, on a clear night (or even on a cloudy night), you can barely make out the outlines of the forest around you, so you can still see at some point or another. Not so with FoF. Once you take off, you can't see A THING. And zipping around upside down at almost 60 mph in the spaghetti-bowl-style coaster it is with no way to see where you're going is horrific.

Sorry that I got the two mixed up. I should go find and listen to the Tales from the Crypt theme song now.

Perhaps, but the flood watches are mostly for people in the valley. Kings Island sits 24 miles to the north, well away from any real flooding threat, aside from the Little Miami, which I don't believe they've had any problems with before. Except Kings Island doesn't sit on completely flat land; the majority of it is hilly and the back half sits inside a valley of its own. If you've been to the park on stormy days like this, you'll notice spots where there's close to three inches of water on the ground. I would expect that there are going to be some BIG puddles come tomorrow at the park. EDIT: I think the decision to close the park down was made at roughly 3:00, as I was called roughly 20 minutes after.

I'm waiting for some unsuspecting blonde to walk in and freeze when she sees close to 500 monsters in one room. She lets out an ear-piercing scream, we all look up, and then someone screams back, "FRESH MEAT!!!!" as we all rush in and corner her. Talk about one heck of a morale boost!

Or I'd assume they stole the colored lights to help with the atmospheric tones of the Haunt, whether they be for the individual mazes or the scare zones. I know a majority of the colored lights from Adventure Express and The Crypt are gone/turned off this season.

Man Faces 10 Years For Assault On KI Security Officer
RingMaster replied to Jasper's topic in Kings Island
In case anyone is wondering? I don't think you will find a single person on this site that DOESN'T care if your brother is okay. Hopefully, though, I can speak for everyone in saying that we're all glad he's made/making a full recovery after the horrific incident. -
I remember Graveyard Shift and the abysmal Tomb Raider Stunt Show from 2003, as well as a Survivor-style game show in 2002. Also, CMT's Turn It Up! was in 2005, and was the last show to perform at the Back Porch Stage before the location laid dormant for three years and then was eventually demolished to make way for Diamondback this season. Magic of the Movies (which I never saw) was in 2004, as a behind-the-scenes look at some of Paramount's most memorable movie scenes, particularly Titanic. There was also, during FearFest in 2004, a live show dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of Friday the 13th called Jason's Extreme Cuts, which was a hybrid of a highlight reel of the series and live-action sequences involving camp counselors and Jason Voorhees himself. Unfortunately, when the show returned in 2005, the live-action sequences were axed (no pun intended) and and the show was dramatically shortened to a mere 13-minute highlight reel depicting all of the different kills of the Masked Murderer. Oh, and there was also three other shows at Winterfest for 2005 (four if you count the Opening Ceremonies with the Winterfest Mayor at the Front Gate). One was a small show inside the Festhaus where the stage was in the middle of the seating area and six people (including a saxophone/piano player) singing Christmas Carols. The second was the Scrooge House inbetween Starbucks and Glass Blower with the cantankerous Ebeneezer Scrooge himself throwing (family-friendly, of course) insults at passersby. The last was the Christmas Express, which had several scenes where the World War II vet on board would sing songs along the train's route before finally hopping off to be with his family at the very end before the train pulled back into the station. EDIT: Oops, I almost forgot about Heckle and Howl in 2006 that was in the same spot as Scrooge's House from '05's Winterfest.

- I know one of the songs from Independence Day (not surprisingly also the theme song to The Beast's lift hill!) plays during the Haunt, as well as the theme songs for Beetlejuice and Nightmare on Elm Street. - I also could've sworn I heard the Phantom Theater theme song playing too; I know it's being played in Scooby's Haunted Castle now. - Judge Jules, an artist who specializes in techno/trance/house music, has two songs that play at the park during the daytime (Requiem For Rascals and Diversion). - Rob Zombie is predominately featured in Action Zone, along with Marilyn Manson and several punk/emo bands whose names I don't recall. - The theme song to Twilight Zone plays during the day, along with a bunch of old Halloween songs (Devil With The Blue Dress, I Put A Spell On You, My Son The Vampire, etc), some of which were sung during 2006's Monster Bash show.

.............. Don't worry.... ...we think you'll do FINE at the Haunt. We just need your name and a picture so that we, you know, will know what you look like and we don't scare you.

....rain a LITTLE bit? It stormed and downpoured for an hour-and-a-half Saturday night. All of the roamers and creepers were relocated to the Front Gate just in case they needed to be sent to the Theater.

Roamers/Creepers Reviews/Experiences for 2009
RingMaster replied to RingMaster's topic in Kings Island
Any derogatory term you can come up with for this: Chances are I've been called it by everyone and their grandma. -
*epic Facepalm goes here* Oh, well, if it makes them money....
-
During the course of the event, post any and all experiences/reviews you have involving this year's batch of Roamers (regular street monsters) and Creepers (sliding monsters w/knee pads).
-
I think the problem is because the map has several of the attractions' entrances screwed up: - cornSTALKERS now uses Congo Falls' queue line as its entrance as it is flip-flopped (starting at Drop Zone rather than at Invertigo like last year like the map shows) - The entrance to Cut-Throat Cove is the exit of Viking Fury (the map has the entrance in front of Sling Shot when it's really the exit) - Massacre Manor's entrance now lies in the Skyline Patio over by the Carousel (of which they need to find a better way of showing people where the entrance is) I also find it weird that One-Eyed Jack's is not mentioned on either the map handout or the two large maps at the Front Gate. Although his review of Tombstone is dead-on; the people who work it are absolutely AMAZING, but the actual maze itself is ABYSMAL, and they won't redo it or get rid of it despite the complaints about it (did they REALLY feel the need to add a photo-op inside Urgent Scare?).

If You Had Creative Control Over Haunt, What Would You Do?
RingMaster replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
They invested in taking pictures of people in a maze and selling the pictures back to them this year without actually scaring them; they can invest in a brand new way to scare people and get them talking about how they literally saw a person FLYING above them. But ohmigosh I love your new cornSTALKERS idea, Ty. Freakin amazing stuff you have there. -
And now you have one random homeless Viking roaming the streets asking for mutton. For SHAME, pirates.
-
Rather than have every maze be super-gory, pull a Universal and dedicate ONE maze to be the super-gory attraction.

Who gives out this award? In either case, this is one haunt in the area I've never been to, and I'm hoping to go this year. Hauntworld Magazine is the one who does the Best Haunted Houses in America awards: http://www.hauntworld.com/featured_article...ted_houses_2009 They and Fangoria are the two leading publications when it comes to all things Horror and Halloween-related. In fact, Fangoria is sponsoring two haunted houses for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights - The Spawning and Leave It To Cleaver. EDIT: I also find it interesting that Ohio has the most (three) attractions in the list (Dead Acres, Dent Schoolhouse, and Akron's Haunted Schoolhouse). I wonder/hope if the new Screampark in Lexington will make the list next year.

You WOULD show a picture that you took yourself, Ryan. But anyway, people are gonna flame me for this (might as well throw me into the Slaughterhouse while you're at it), so I'll just come out and say it: Backlot Stunt Coaster. The weird abstract Los Angeles Metro area looks cool when walking down either path by the Floral Clock. I think it's because part of it sits on top of a hill and goes down into a small ravine that makes it seem intimidating. Not to mention the fire effects at night light up the whole back half of Coney (and made cornSTALKERS and worksite scarier back in the day).

Whoa whoa whoa.... ....what do you mean...YOU Urgent Scare people?
-
Either that or it may be that Smoked Turkey Leg stand opposite Outer Hank's next to the restroom. Or possibly a combination of the two.
-
Did the Dippin' dots guy tell you that? No,why? *facepalm* It's an inside joke. Anytime a crazy rumor (like Vortex sinking or Cedar Fair moving Dragster down to Kings Island) starts up people bring up the associate least likely to relay any inside information from the company...namely the guy who works at the Dippin Dots stand. Another notable substitute is the Cabana Lady who works at Boomerang Bay.

Ride lines have very short waits during the Haunt because the majority of people that come usually are there for the mazes. However, some of the big-ticket rides, especially Delirium, Firehawk, Beast, and Diamondback, tend to have lines as long as some of the mazes (up to an hour-and-a-half at times!).

The City of Mason prohibits loud noises (read: fireworks) after 10PM, which is why there aren't any fireworks during the Haunt and why the 4th of July fireworks were at 10 instead of midnight.
