  1. Did they find a spot on the ride that was deemed too intense for riders and opt to replace a part of the track at the last minute?
  2. Maybe it's just me, but Seahawk sounds like a good name for 'ol Flight Deck for some odd reason. I can see the track painted a teal or aquamarine and have the naval aircraft theme come back. Or if/when Flight Deck gets removed and the possibility of an Inverted Beemer takes its place, its name could be Seahawk with those same features added on. (And before anyone gets on me about people getting Firehawk and Seahawk mixed up, remember that people were confused with The Beast and Son of Beast for the longest time.)
  3. I find it kinda weird considering Knott's Berry Farm announces at least one or two new attractions as early as April and KI usually waits until almost after Labor Day Weekend to announce what the new attraction(s) is/are. If they would maybe at least release the name and a quick synopsis of a new attraction after Memorial Day Weekend that would give people more to speculate about and get people pumped up about it in conjunction with the Hearse being parked out in the park. Perhaps having a monster promoting one of the new mazes for that year. Anyway, I'm glad to hear the Action Sports World Tour will be coming back this year; I absolutely loved the competitions on the vert ramp and hope they'll amp it up this season.
  4. Something goes on in the land of Action? Enlighten me, you must!
  5. ^ "Drop Tower is too intense for me..."
  6. Well, it is the flagship park so of course they're going to advertise more towards Cedar Point no matter what ride they put in.
  7. Which is why I only listed coasters. Given the fact Cedar Point is nicknamed "America's Roller Coast", people are more inclined to talk about the Point's array of coasters more than anything else the park has to offer. Especially since most of the Point's ads center around their coasters than rides like maXair or Power Tower.
  8. ^ Now see, I forgot Maverick opened after Cedar Fair acquiring the Paramount Parks, yet it was probably already been planned before then, so I don't know if I should leave it on the list or take it off. *facepalm*
  9. They're not about their lose the monopoly in Ohio anytime soon. Out of the 12 parks that Cedar Fair owns, Kings Island is the next most popular park (next to Cedar Point, obviously). If KI is sold off independently, everyone and their mother-in-law will jump up to buy it, which means the Point will have to go back to competing with the Island whoever gets it. Which also means the possibility of seeing another Worlds of Adventure if KI gets into the wrong hands and becomes over-saturated within a short period of time (between 2-4 years) in an attempt to compete with "America's Roller Coast". Now, granted, when Paramount took control of the park, they went the route of making it an "Everybody's" theme park (minus the blatant self-promotion of films and television shows) by creating attractions for everyone, but they still needed to add big rides to both appeal to thrill seekers and drag people away from Cedar Point. Just look at the (big) coasters added during Paramount's reign (not including Top Gun/Thunder Run and I'm starting in 1994): - Flight of Fear (1996) - Face/Off (1999) - Son of Beast (2000) ...and now compare that to the (big) coasters that Cedar Point added (I'm starting at 1994): - Raptor (1994) - Mantis (1996) - Millennium Force (2000) - Wicked Twister (2002) - Top Thrill Dragster (2003) - Maverick (2007) Everything I wrote here (minus the coasters and the dates) is only my opinion and pure speculation, of course.
  10. I can only hope that the rest of the asphalt in the park is replaced with either pavers or regular concrete in the future.
  11. Because Cedar Fair spends so much money promoting and advertising the park to the point where you're insane if you've never heard of it. Almost every Travel Channel special showing coasters has to have Cedar Point on it.
  12. It's too bad they didn't answer his question about The Vortex sinking. They could've finally put that one to rest.
  13. ^^ The same could be said for parks like Silver Dollar City or Dollywood, especially Dollywood. Even though Dolly Parton is a major part of the park, their theming and attention to detail is on par with a Universal or Disney park. Mystery Mine cost $17 million to make and has a themed queue, a storyline, special effects and whatnot. Dollywood doesn't need to rely on movies in order to provide a unique themed experience for a coaster.
  14. And they wonder why they have so many communication issues amongst the parks that they own.
  15. ^ Would you have rather they answered the question about Vortex sinking?
  16. I'm still amazed at the parallels between Knott's Haunt and our Haunt, especially when they say they vary how much blood and gore there is between their mazes (and some don't even have any), where we seem to need to have gore in EVERY maze.
  17. Well, from what I understand, the loop structure was steel, but the actual rails were made of wood. So coaster_junky is right; my bubble has burst.
  18. My first ride was in 2004 and, although the first ride was rough, after I figured out the "Sweet Spot" of the ride (by riding in the middle row of a three-row car), it was smooth sailing and I flat out loved it. Until they got new trains. And now it's rough no matter where I sit. Mainly on the Rose Bowl.
  19. Yeah, I agree on lowering the volume of the screams; that sounds like that's what is causing kids to cry. 's too bad they don't allow cameras on the ride so I could get a rough look at what that particular scene is until I actually go up there (though given what's going on right now, the skeletons might be gone when I finally take a trip up to the park ). EDIT: Nevermind, there's a video on YouTube from Channel 19 that shows a snippet of that scene from Boo Boo's Blasters.
  20. Cartoony-looking skeletons or semi-realistically looking skeletons?
  21. Or at least rename the ride so as it doesn't give people the idea that it isn't scary (I had grown fond of the Boo Blasters name, but if it's as scary as people say it is, then it needs to change).
  22. Just think, the world's first and only dueling, racing steam trains.
  23. *facepalm* Words can't even begin to describe how I feel about this.
  24. I miss my loop. It was GINORMOUS and the transition from wood to steel to wood was insane. But I hated (and still despise) the Rose Bowl; that's always the roughest part of the ride. If they get rid of that, it should (hopefully) be smooth sailing...so to speak.
  25. No, the horse died July '06 when its legs broke from having too much weight on it while galloping at 80 miles an hour, and people kept beating it when they tied strings to its legs and pranced around the place like a marionette saying it was fine when it really wasn't and just kept inching closer to the deep end psychologically-speaking. ....yeah, okay, that was a REALLY drawn out attempt at a Sonny joke.
