  1. was it? i thought the SF website had the press release date of September 12.
  2. do you think it will be rebuilt with the remnants of Astroworld?
  3. Question. is it possible that Six Flags' decision to close the Houston location interlinked somehow to the fact that most of their New Orleans location will need to be replaced/removed permanently? Convenient that Houston's park is to close and they have all of those rides/coasters to move. But would be great that they are able to take remains of a defunct park (that probably had a limited life in it's current location) to a park that has useful life lef tin it's location but has no recourse to start up again. Just a thought... sorry if it has already been discussed.
  4. you would think that FOF would be open; if for nothing else to help disburse the crowd. It may very well be the first time ever that there would be a 1-hour line for the Carousel (j/k).
  5. I agree with harvest..... I don't know if the "Smaoking Ban" is necessary. i don't like to inhale second hand smoke.. but after all it is outdoors...... but if you're going to have such a rule, ENFORCE IT. The prices on Souvenirs.... they are A LOT BETTER than they used to be. Back in the day, they were outrageously expensive... almost double what they should have been. Now, they still may be overpriced, but not near as bad. i remember walking through a shop and seeing the prices and thinking they didn't seem too bad.... I had to buy a t-shirt and towel after taking in WWC 13 times just before closing back in July. A sit down eatery would be good.... but they would need more than one... like some good "Cincinnati" places (like Graeter's and LaRosa's)... what are some famous local places (other than Montgomery Inn... which is expensive WITHOUT park-induced prices)? I was overall very pleased with all of my visits this year...
  6. just out of curiousity... and most on here may be too young to remember, but in the previous Winterfest events had so much preparation been done and standing during the regular operating season?
  7. coastersrz... you bring up a good point. Where did all the lights/decor come from? I'm guessing that it hasn't been in storage for the last 13 years. This kind of really excites me, because Paramount is really spending on this.... and i think from what I've read and seen it's going to be incredible.
  8. Combat; I agree- paramount has done more good than bad. You do have to admit though that it was a bit of a learning curve for them in the beginning- but I think that the learning curve is past an they are building.... really great premier parks. The park is cleaner than it was in the mid-90's A LOT of money has been spent in investment in the park... sometimes, in my opinion on marginal things that seemed over-priced. But, most times you only know of mistakes after the fact. One only has to visit the Paramount Studio in LA to know the professionlism that exists in Paramount as a whole.... but I do think in the beginning they were trying to be Universal / Disney and manage their own parks to this large conglomerate. And I think they learned. I also agree with the opinions of "woofer"-- sometimes they make decisions and you know there is a reason behind it, but you think "what the...."
  9. Combat.... cool down. I know that "tense" is difficult to read on screen- but I don't think that I would classify what others are saying as "whining." More like stating opinions. now, back to festhaus.... do they ever use the other side of the building anymore?
  10. not to sound too protective, but I heard on the news that some pretty lousy weather in coming through on Sunday... they were using words like..... tornado-type weather, so BE CAREFUL! bty.... where exactly do you go if a tornado warning is issued at the park? I was at EPCOT in florida when a funnel cloud passed directly overhead and thinking.... "my god, there's no place to go and nothing but glass here." just curious.
  11. oddly enough Robert Reed actually did hate the show and didn't care for many of the directors/producers.... and they didn't really care for him either. Sherwood Schwartz contemplated killing off the character (in a family series) for season 7 before the show was canceled. But oddly enough; Reed was back on (enthusiastically) for all Brady reunion shows and the God-forsaken variety shows. kinda funny how life played itself out.
  12. WOW shaggy, you need a hobby. just kidding. enjoyed reading it. can this episode be downloaded anywhere?
  13. did anyone end up spotting it on Limewire?
  14. faceoff.... let me know if you find it on limewire. Have searched on there before and have never come up with any Brady episodes.
  15. you are right... alice got stuck in the middle of the flat as it started spinning. I forgot about that ride... i can still see it in my head. Does this site have any pics of that vomet-inducing spin-demon?
  16. Coasterz... i think actually they did mention the park's name; maybe not on signage.... but I think at the beginning of the episode they do mention the name of the park.... I'll tell you January 10th... but that's interesting that nothing else has names.... that much I do believe.
  17. the old addage that tv makes things appear larger than they really are..... well, the park must have seemed enormous since it took 5 people and 10 minutes in a dead sprint to get from one end to the other.
  18. the old addage the tv makes things appear larger than they really are..... well, the park must have seemed enormous since it took 5 people and 10 minutes in a dead sprint to get from one end to the other.
  19. I want to know why the family was dining at the beer gardens? wasn't that supposed to be a family show?
  20. stupid mike brady. Now, that would have been a story. Marsha's face take out by a camera. My question is Brady Bunch was a Paramount Television franchise. Did Paramount have some marketing agreements with the former owners way back when.... or did Paramount always have a stake in ownership before becoming the sole owners?
  21. "murder the elves?????" that will be a nice christmas twist... how 'bout this year, he go "total tank." (from the 1st Santa Claus movie).
  22. mark your calendars for the estimated release date of Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Amazon.com is reporting that the above date is the estimated release of the Brady Bunch, season 5..... which includes the infamous visit to our beloved park in what I believe is it's 2nd or 3rd year of operation. A LOT has changed.... good footage of the canoe ride that used to be where The Beast is. I hated the Brady Bunch, but I'll have to shell out the $30 or so to nab the season for the episode. I have tried to "google" and "Limewire" sites that may have that episode downloaded... but to no avail. Maybe this DVD will have cast commentary- though I know that most of the cast members really don't have much to do with the show at all. just an fyi.
  23. FOF1996.... depends on weather. I think that they can open on 10 straight days of at or below freezing temps. a few years ago (2000, i think) they opened a week before Thanksgiving, which i think was the earliest they had ever (there's a story for the global warming faithful).... but in years past I believe the average is about the 2-3rd week of December.
  24. yea, very "not feasible" monitarily- but it's nice to think about. never happen, though. upper michigan is about the closest for excellent skiing. West to Boyne Highlands skiing last year.... AWESOME; was on the slopes from 9am until close- 11pm-ish...... hurt like he## the next day, but i'd do it again!
  25. it is great when other people do not see fit to accept anyone's view other than their own. The post that everyone appears to be commenting on (sorry- don't remember the name)- but a 40 year old that pays a small fortune to get a family in the park should come to expect some level of excellence. I have worked at PKI in the volunteer program several times this year in various positions and was stunned at some (not all) of the lack of work ethic... it really made those who like their jobs much harder because they had to pull the weight of everyone else. Now, while I don't agree with all of his opinions (they are his based on experience of what happened to him).... PKI, I think did an outstanding job on theming for fearfest this year! Really, congrats to all who participated in the creation of the atmosphere... it was really outstanding. I did not take in any of the attractions, but was really impressed by all I saw. Now, to Winterfest- no criticisms here, from everything I have seen thus far it looks like they are going "all out" on this, but for the price I hope that they offer more than it appears they are. $24 for admisson seems a little excessive (not to mention with the always pricey food). I do intend to go despite the cost. The walk-through in and of itself will be worth the experience.... but the cost will determine if it is one or many visits.
