    Oh, ha. I misread that.

Can I ask where you saw blacklights and flourescent paint?

The ride show is strickingly similar to the lift hill of Disaster Transport.
  4. Cedar Point in June of 2005. On a whim we decided to get a cabin at Lighthouse Point, definitely a good decision.
  5. Orange wristbands signify that a person is 54 inches, not that they are under the max height for certain rides. Unless it has changed this year....
  6. The Grizzly at Great America. Bad trains, bad location, bad ride. Enough said.
  7. I'm so tempted to apply for the college program next summer/fall, but I just can't seem to justify missing a quarter of classes to get paid a very mediocre wage. I'm sure it would be an incredible amount of fun, nevertheless.
  8. That log ride is definitly something to check out, the hill within the "mountain" is very surprising. I'm sorry you didn't get on xcelerator, it really is a great ride!
  9. On my last visit to Coney in 2006, I noticed that over by the company picnic area they have a large pole with signs at various heights denoting the water level of the floods that occured during various years. I seem to remember the highest one being from the 1930's, with a height of about 15 feet. So, yes, I think it's safe to say that flooding was the demise of Coney.
  10. The park converted to Nick characters for a reason. I'm pretty sure they have very little interest, other than for the sake of nostalgia, to return to HB. To say that NU is popular would be an understatement, it has quickly become one of if not the most popular sections of the park.
  11. I would really prefer a DC comics theme over Marvel, for the sole reason that any attempt at an attraction related to Marvel would almost certainly pale in comparison to the existing themed rides/areas.
  12. Man, one would hope they would post new pictures of the rides so the former names weren't staring everyone in the face. Directly next to the titles "Time Warp" and "Drop Tower" the signs can clearly be read denoting "Tomb Raider" and "Drop Zone". It just looks very unclassy, in my opinion.
  13. I personally think that unless the attraction had a significant movie/show backing up the theme, the general public would not be too excited about it. Most parks that have successful sci-fi attractions are those that have the rights to use the theming of a popular movie, i.e. Back to the Future (yes, I'm aware that they were closed in March/September of last year), The Twilight Zone, etc.
  14. I remember in 2000 waiting through a full queue during one-train op. I think it took somewhere in the range of 2.5-3 hours.
  15. No. It is only supposed to spin(once) on the way up. When it opened it made a full 2 rotations on the way to the top, I don't exactly remember why it changed to just one...anyone?
  16. I really think I've come to the conclusion that my favorite ride is the Incredible Hulk at IOA. The zero-g roll over the bridge after the launch is almost euphoric, and everything that follows is just so intense....
  17. I could type out the entire dialogue verbatim....but I guess that's not quite as impressive anymore since the audio is available online,
  18. ^I agree with you on Scream. I think the only saving grace for that ride is the zero-g roll preceding the cobra roll because you don't completely feel like you're out in the middle of a parking lot. I find it amusing that Riddler's Revenge pre-dates it by 5 years and offers such a better experience. (well, at least on my visits in '03 and '05)
  19. I can't say I'm too disappointed, with those god-awful headrests they added the ride was becoming ridiculous. I only rode it it's first year in 2001, when it had the original restraint system, and even then it wasn't all that great. The launch was decent, but after that the ride was very mediocre.
  20. It's a simple equation based upon the arc radius and entering and exiting velocities of the body in motion, all intended to reduce lateral g's. One doesn't need to be an expert to plug in some numbers, eh?
  21. Yeah...the banking angles changed significantly between the two designs. Given I'm not informed in any way upon the actual design process, but I don't know what they were thinking...I'm a first year undergrad in engineering and I know how to calculate the necessary banking angle in a case such as this.
  22. Perfect North pretty much offers the best skiing in the area. Paoli Peaks, Mad River Mountain, etc. don't really offer that great of an experience. The last time I was at Mad River the smell of cow dung was overtaking the entire area. The best skiing I have found within a day's drive is at Seven Springs in Pennsylvania.
  23. This seems like an exremely asinine and hypocritical concept, as they are trying to benefit from the facade of "Walt Disney", all the while attempting to protest the discrimination of said company. I don't get it.
  24. ^I'm no expert, but it seems to me that you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I think they knew there was some pretty tough competition in the area, they just thought branding it as part of Cedar Point would give it a much greater appeal than it actually did.
  25. Wow, I had no idea garages could be that expensive. I can't imagine the cost of that massive garage at Universal Orlando.
