Photo Trip Report of Carowinds
Discodude3737 replied to Vortex's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Did you ride the Scooby-Doo dark ride? If so, what did you think of it? When I went last in '04 the line was insane, so I passed it up for about 20 re-rides on Top Gun. -
I really dont think we got "screwed", with a seating arrangement like this http://rcdb.com/ig1711.htm?picture=6 I really dont see how fun it could be.

SFOG Deja Vu
Discodude3737 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have to say that I prefer Deja Vu to Face Off any day. On the other hand, during my three multi-day visits in three different years to Magic Mountain, Deja Vu was open half of one of the days in one of the three years. Besides the extreme downtime and horrendous capacity, it really is quite a fun ride! -

On the water rides you must wear shoes but a shirt is optional. Bathing suits are now fine to wear.

I used to be a fan of the Halloween events that were included in admission at most parks, but now I really think that a separate ticketed event is a better idea. Universal's Halloween Horror Nights is the best example that I can think of; tickets are currently at $65 a night and I don't think anyone could possibly argue that the quality of the event isn't worth the price.

The "D" in the word "ride" is falling off.

I seem to remember opening day in 2003 having excellent weather, sunny and warm. This April weather is so unpredictable from year to year.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that Cedar Point as a whole went way over the top with seatbelts. I definitely think they are good to have on Millennium Force and Dragster, but Gemini, Corkscrew, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride just don't seem to need them. I guess it's a liability issue so they are good to have, but I would hate to see Vortex enter it's 20th season with the addition of seatbelts.

Carowinds Employees Hurt Testing Ride
Discodude3737 replied to PKIVortex's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
To my knowledge, Vekoma intended to have the trains lower into the "lay-down" position after they had dispatched from the station, possibly on the lift hill. However, this system was never put into place for whatever reason and now the seats lower while the train is in the station before dispatching. I really don't understand why they would make it possible for such an incident to occur by just pushing a button. -
I still don't understand why people think Magic Mountain is an awful excuse for an amusement park. I have been there two times, in two separate summers, multiple days each time, and am yet to find anything I hate about the park. From my experience Magic Mountain needs to be included with Fiesta Texas and Great America as some of the top parks in the chain.

Even More Firehawk Construction!
Discodude3737 replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I was driving down I-71 from Ohio State yesterday and saw two flat-bed trucks hauling two large pieces of green track. They looked to be pieces of the station, but I could be mistaken. -
Even More Firehawk Construction!

Outside of Mountain Dew, I have to favor Coke in every other way. The decision to cut production of Vanilla Coke really..just...irked me. -
What is your favorite location at Kings Islands?

I've always loved the pathway leading from Happy Days Diner into Rivertown. -
A Great Adventurous Update
Discodude3737 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They're removing the two zero-g rolls, the best part(s) of the ride in my opinion. -
I have a really good feeling about SOB this season. I don't really know why, but the changes seem to make me think that it's going to be much better this year.

I really think Cedar Fair made the right moves with Geagua Lake. Six Flags tried to make it into something it could never be, and Cedar Fair is slowly turning it into the type of park that will be successful in that area.

Firehawk Construction Is Well Under Way!
Discodude3737 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I have no idea how one would go about spicing up the outside of FOF without making it look awful or extremely fake. I'm perfectly content with the plain, tan outside. Maybe some trees and bushes would work well. -
I wouldn't really consider the Screamin' Swing at Knott's to be a rip off. I found it to be quite different than Skyhawk, mainly because of the small "pods" or whatever you would call them. It felt much more "free", so to speak, than Skyhawk. I don't regret my decision to pay for the ride at all.

I think a Disney hotel would fit in great with the atmosphere at Newport on the Levee, besides the fact that the surrounding area isn't exactly what Disney would be looking for. Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty nice area, but it consists of many residential neighborhoods which would probably turn Disney away. Newport on the Levee improved that area so much, and I think there is still room to expand.

Paramount Parks web sites have changed
Discodude3737 replied to mwhinva's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I find it interesting that the middle of the home page looks exactly the same as it did previously(for now anyway). I have a hunch that more changes are in the mix for the website.
