I might be all on my own here, but I sure hope that not only does Hart open Kentucky Kingdom next year when he plans to, but that it is an enormous success. I'll gladly watch several nay sayers eat crow sandwiches. I can't tell you how disappointing it is to come back to this website as a 'less-than-casual-visitor' and catch up on a few things and to have to scroll through all the negativity and skepticism. You certainly do represent the "enthusiast" community well. I know some will try to spin their words, as to make it sound like the intent was not negative in the slightest, but the connotation is there, plain as day. I'm happy that Ed Hart is refusing to let his dream die. I'm happy he's secured financing, happy he's got a thought out plan and happy the rides are in "great shape". For what it's worth, perhaps someone who doubts the condition of the rides has proof otherwise? Perhaps we have someone hidden in our midst who has done their own, on site, structural analysis of the rides? It had been a long while since I decided to catch up with this site, and I know I'll be thinking long and hard before I decide to to devote anymore of my time here. There are plenty of other outlets where I can get the fix I require, and it comes with more friendly discussion and far less negativity. The sad part is, I know I'm not the only person to have come to this impasse. I hope you all are having a lovely summer season enjoying your favorite parks, and moreover, I hope you are enjoying places other than amusement parks even more.

GYK, Your passion for the amusement industry, and your innate ability to carefully and clearly articulate your thoughts, ideas and experiences through the written word are what set your posts, more specifically your trip reports, in an echelon apart from any other user on this website. You truly are the best thing for these message boards because the reader can, in addition to learning the finer details of each park or even attraction you write about, we sense your excitement and passion which is, for lack of a better word, infectious. This trip is something 95% of the readers here will never get to experience in their lifetime and what's more, is you didn't solely go for the Disney aspect. Sure it was a big draw, but you took advantage of so many other Japanese "must sees". I get so discouraged when I see readers here articulate a thought and it comes across as their life is completely consumed with the amusement industry and virtually nothing else. It's almost like tunnel vision. Make no mistake, to me, you are the best contributor KIC has. I'd be lying if I said quality posts like yours were in abundance, that the 'fluff' was in the minority, but sadly it is not the case. It's a shame so few people have responded to thank you for the hard work you put in sharing your thoughts and experiences with this community without needing to speak in puns, use anecdotal phrases or being just snarky. It's informative and flat out enjoyable to read. So, on behalf of all the other users who won't bother to put their gratitude in a reply, consider this to be an all inclusive "Thanks".

And yet there are plenty of Roman Catholics priests (and higher) who pontificated how they lived their faith daily... ... and I think we all know what happened behind closed doors. Don't be naive enough to judge a book by its cover...

The gall to not know how to do that is infuriating, no doubt. Perhaps he was to preoccupied with doing the tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of things that were more important than knowing how to take, what you deem to be, a "proper screenshot" or perhaps he couldn't care less...

Please don't think I have some ill will toward 'The Interpreter' as I do not. He has actually been extremely kind to me and out of all the people that use this message board, is the only one who has continually asked about my never ending battle with cancer. I've conversed with him extensively outside the close confines of this website. He's fantastic, we have a great rapport and I have much respect for him. It was just an opinion... and I phrased it in a way that I knew he would appreciate (and not get his panties in a bunch).

I dont think you're making the correlation that I was referencing...

I guess there ended up being some truth to that whole: "RUMOR. RUMOR. May be true, may not be. A poster on an Internets site. Please. RUMOR." As someone who hates to be misinformation, I'm extremely grateful to have been reminded not once, twice or three times - but five times that it was a rumor! Delivered in a *cough* non-'rude', non-'crass' no less *cough* I guess I can assume Cedar Fair will probably never make a press release through micechat.com I'm not going to lie, I did crack a smile when I saw Cedar Fair had picked up Coke as the chain-wide soft drink because it reminded me of how vehemently we were reminded how this topic was just a rumor at it's inception and should be, more or less, given little if any credence. Outside of the completely absurd, I've often found some bits of truth, in varying degrees, in rumors - especially in amusement parks. As much as some people like to believe and profess that salaried employees in amusement parks do not talk; that park plans are locked up at Fort Knox guarded by a slew of secret police - this is simply not the case. We all know about non-disclosure agreements and such but the reality is people talk. ... just my opinion though
-
Let's not negate the inappropriateness of using "tacky and crass" as to insinuate someone's behavior is 'less than', or inferior to someone else's. In my opinion, regardless of who you are, disrespectful is disrespectful. And to be perfectly frank, there are some who might say responding to a simple question with an answer like "yes, someone can" could be construed as tacky. The first time, it was cute... meanwhile, years and years later... I would just think the users of this website would want to provide the most welcoming environment possible. I would certainly hate for a user to feel belittled or even attacked and courtesy of the overflowing altruism on this forum, I'm sure that rarely occurs. Didn't someone once say "leave the moderating to the moderators" ? (I double checked, and going back to edit a post, is not a violation of the beloved Terms of Service)

^In your opinion it's "tacky and crass"... and in my opinion, completely unnecessary to say...

one could also argue that a majority of the things claimed on screamscape 'come true'. Just because its not 100% not accurate doesn't mean it is not accurate a majority of the time. I also think it's fair to say there is a far greater amount of untrue statements contained in the message boards on KIC than one would find on screamscape.
-
Why hold it with a grain of salt? Why not give it all the credence in the world? Just because a few people like to claim how error-laden screamscape is, does not mean it is...

Well, now that we've established KI is the testing ground, could someone tell me what day in June Luminosity premiers at KI? ;-)

Mr. Avatar... Do you mean integrated instead of interrogated?

I think that would have to be money well spent... Moons ago, when I still thought of parks as wonderful places to work, I decided after my tenure at pki to mosey up to the land of Sandusky... I was shocked to see how different things were... And with regards to housing, I stayed two nights there and that's all. The only reason it was that long was because it took that long to find my own apartment in downtown Sandusky. On a side note, if you ever get a chance, you should spend a few hours walking through downtown Sandusky, it really is quite beautiful. It's like stepping back in time, back when things were simpler. Also of note, the library is possibly one of the most beautiful ive been in. Anyway... Housing at Cedar Point leaves a lot to be desired. University housing would have been preferable over CP. Old hotel furniture populates the dorms, with bunk beds stacked in the bedrooms. I'm not naive enough to think its not supposed to be a hotel, and considering how cp works their employees likes indentured servants, you're barely in the dorm, however, dilapidation would be the best term to associate with housing at cp. I guess you could make the same argument many guests make with regards to ki's parking lot... If you are paying all this money for parking, you expect a decent lot in which to park your car, the same for housing, you pay all this money for housing, you expect something relatively habitable. (habitable: see also - antithesis of cedars dormitories) Don't forget that old expression... Happy wife happy life... The same could be used for employees anywhere... And when your rely on thousands upon thousands of employees to ensure guests have a safe, fun experience, you want those employees to be happy ones... (I shudder to think of how may times I'm going to hear, welcome back riders... In an infinite disingenuous loop all summer... :-/ )

So since you won't be spending your time spreading "unheard rumors" this winter, will you be learning some basic grammar? Dear Grammar Patrol, You're missing a comma after the word 'so'. Regards, Me ;-)

This is just a random side bar, but when someone says "I've worked at the park the past few seasons"... Am I the only person who immediately thinks to themselves, "you and 3,500 other people"? Im not sure where or who said it, but maybe I'll throw my two cents in the pot for what its worth. When you say something like "It is, or They are" - the sentence structure leaves no wiggle room for interpretation, what you are saying is indeed fact. Many moons ago you could come make a post, and say something as benign as ' McDonald's is extending breakfast until 10:31am M-F" and your post would be followed up with twenty posts that contained one word ... "Proof?". You have no idea how seeing someone demand evidence infuriated me and made my blood boil. Regardless, it was hard, for some, to accept what other users were saying because so many people were posting things as if they were fact, instead of hearsay they had either overheard or been privy to discussion regarding. 'Higher Up' is such a laughable phrase anyway. Do you have any idea how many 'higher ups' there are in a facility like Kings Island? Your supervisor, for that matter, is a 'higher up'. I have no idea if the full time rides managers know anything about the extent or process for rehabbing trains, my guess is their knowledge is fairly limited, but then again - its just my guess. My point is, the information that was presented, by those 'people who'd worked at the park for several seasons' and had 'heard it from "higher ups" ', you don't really know if what these people tell you is the truth. If it were me, while I might believe what they said, I would not be repeating it as gospel truth, which those individuals did more or less, until they were able to confirm with someone who works in maintenance on the trains themselves, like Aaron. As for the way his response went - was he a jerk? Compared to some of the other things I've seen him write to other users, no. The thing you always have to remember is, just because you read it and interpret how he would be articulating it to you if he was speaking, it might not be how he intended it when it was written. Things often become lost in translation simply because the reader cannot hear the author verbalize the written word. Sometimes I think what he says contains a certain arrogant crassness about it, but it doesn't negate the validity of what he is offering, he does know his job after all. Then again, if you get offended by a screen name on a website that discusses a subject that, in the grand scheme of life, doesn't matter one bit, then maybe you're wound a little too tightly and need to relax a tad :-) Somewhere along the lines I think a lot of people forgot the reason to congregate here was to, simply put it, have fun. When it no longer becomes fun, whats the point? P.S. - My other all time favorite demand for evidence, in a much more coy fashion that "no one saw through" would be the tool bag who would say "Oh gee golly... I sure do wish I could see a picture of that *cough cough* *wink wink* *nudge nudge*" again... just my two cents

TTD closed down due to flying debris
Erosarrow05 replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think the source, is himself... and just out of my own curious nature, Cody, what did you think TTD stood for? I guess I was under the impression that the 'TTD' abbreviation was common knowledge... -
So... It always intrigues me how, when screamscape.com is updated with stories containing links to outside screamscape, users will then post the news story on KICentral.com and provide the outside link without mentioning they stumbled upon it on screascape. That has never been my policy, and as such, before I continue, I would just like to make it known that, what I am about to mention, I saw on screamscape. (and that when users at KICentral.com do the previously mentioned little stunt, it annoys me - but thats just me) ANYWAY... Screamscape has posted a link http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_flags_over_texas.htm to some really incredible, not your every day, footage of Texas Giant, shot with a small HD camcorder and a remote control helicopter. The footage is quite stunning, not only the ride, but the quality is superb and the time of day in which it was shot was beautiful. It is something that clearly took some thought and time to do, and I appreciated it so I thought I would share it (for that one user here at KICentral.com that doesnt check screamscape). I certainly don't mean this as a dig to the people who maintain this website and create and edit videos for all of us to view, but there is nothing comparable in the KICentral.com video library that comes close to this. You should check it out!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Erosarrow05 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I really feel like we should start up a pool to see who guesses when WindSeeker will open at KI, or at Cedar Point for that matter too...
