  1. Yeah good find F5. You can really see how The Vortex mirrors part of The Bat - the straight track before the turn to the station, the station and the lift. They are all in exactly the same spot. I know its different footers and everything - but you can really tell that Arrow designed Vortex to fill Bat's shoes...
  2. It has recieved good feedback. But its popularity will fade. You cannot assume that because something was an instant success that means its good and you should buy 20 of them. Look at MC Hammer. He was a hit one time... You have heard of MC Hammer haven't you?
  3. Son of Beast has steel reinforcments - namely where the track goes through the structure. It has this to keep it from collapsing. The only part of Son of Beast you could really call steel is the loop because the spine and ties are steel. The track itself though is wood...
  4. I think the station could have been better. Like it could have been alot more aircraft carrier like - especially if the whole area under it was a lake to simulate it being on water. They could also put the control booth up higher to make it look like an aircraft control tower.
  5. One of the biggest reasons Italian Job is so popular is that it is new. Give it a few seasons... And IJST goes faster and is has more extreme elements in it than Adventure Express - ie. LIM Launch, Helix, High Bank Turn, Surf Curves. However I like Adventure Express better. This has nothing to do with me being an ACEr.
  6. They take The Beast trains off the track every night and park them in my driveway.
  7. No - that has nothing to do with it. It just isn't that good a ride. My favorite roller coaster in the world is eighty feet tall...
  8. IJST is boring. Adeventure Express is sooo much better. And it doesn't have fire or dumb hollywood theming.
  9. I prefer the shortest line. The apparent speed and the airtime is all pretty close to the same no matter where you sit. You can get different amounts of airtime on that hump though. But its in the dark and theres no drops - so it pretty much doesn't matter where you sit.
  10. It looks weird when IJST people are working other rides - like HB rides...
  11. Yeah what determines what a coaster is is the track. Contrary to popular belief - Adventure Express and Gemini are both steel coasters. Voyage and Hades are wood, even though they are mostly steel. All the steel supports do is save money. The actual roughness of the coaster has a lot to do with the design of the trains and the track, and how good the engineers of it were.
  12. I believe the black one is their temperate weather shirt and the gray one is for hot weather.
  13. I wonder if the new Great Wolf Lodge / Indoor Waterpark was in planning stages when they asked for this extra capacity. It could cover their water rides, water park and the indoor waterpark.
  14. Everybody has pretty much said it already. Kids these days don't have a clue who Boo Boo and Babba Looey are. The HB theming means absolutely NOTHING to them. If you rethemed the rides to Nick - like made Quick Draws Railway into a Dora The Explorer thing somehow - ridership would go WAY up. The same applies for all the other HB rides as well.
  15. They should play that Beast 25 Years of Boredom video. My favorite part is the end. Why do people keep coming back for The Beast? There are as many reasons as there are hills on The Beast. Then like 10 different people all say "The Speed". So one? That is like the park admitting that its a stupid ride... No really - it is an interesting video. I found it particularly interesting how that guy lost all that weight riding The Beast. Then the commercial at the end... ITS BIG, ITS BAD, ITS FAST, ITS - Son of Beast! AHHHHHHHHHHHH
  16. Uh you got that backwards. Centripetal force is real. It is latin for Center Seeking. It is a force that accelerates an object inward toward the center of a circle. Centrifugal force is the one that is used for convenience - but does not actually exist. There is no such thing as Centrifugal force. But there is Centripetal force. Centripetal force is what keeps you pushed down into your seat in a loop. INERTIA is what would keep the cars from flopping over. The cars tend to move in a straight line, but the track forces them to follow a bent path. So INTERTIA forces the cars outward, but the force acting against INERTIA is the CENTRIPETAL force... Centrifugal force is an imaginary concept used to make things make more sense.
  17. Saint Lois - haven't heard of her. Might have something to do with the fact that I am not Catholic...
  18. As a reminder, the use of any electronic items including cell phones, cameras, pagers, calculators, pdas and gps locators is strictly forbidden on any ride here at Paramount's Kings Island. If you are currently using one of the afore mentioned items - you must secure it IMMEDIATELY! I heard about this one guy who did a lot of on ride videos - and got caught doing one on Beast, then called the ride ops there "Lap Bar Monkeys". I hear he gets stapled alot now.
  19. Reminds me of my navy days...
  20. The best non coaster at PKI is not listed on that list. However out of those on the list I would have to say Viking Fury. It is the only ride that both tastes great and is less filling!
  21. Kong Fu Guy is an evolutionary milestone in the human race...
  22. Yes - thank me! That is why I am an admiral!
  23. Ah I see what you are talking about. I see how they probably programmed their site as well. Thanks for clearing that up. So you can't really depend on those to tell you what is happening - because all the Paramount Parks point to the same database - and the sites just include content from various sections of that database. So you can include content from 136 as reclaimer used at any Paramount park site and it will display the same content with that parks wrapper. Oh well it was interesting to think about!
  24. What about behind the Waterpark? The other day I saw a crane behind the waterpark, but on the Kings Island side of Western Row Road. I don't know if that is PKI property or what. But if it is - then the crane was back in an area of the park where there really is nothing. Now there might be support stuff back there - like power or water equipment - I don't know. That is just what I saw.
