I believe all the floats are operated by people. Embedded in the pavement are little RF modules called pucks that communicate with the parade control computer, also known as "pageant." It synchronizes all of the music with it's float and makes sure it is in the correct location in relation to the other floats. They can tell whether or not a float is moving too fast or too slow. Maybe there was a malfunction with the float drivesystem or miscommunication with parade control. Who knows.

I'd have to say Intamin and Arrow because they both hold up to a high reputation and they've built a lot of great rides.

Trust me, If they wanted to do a show of that magnitude, they could do it. But, being Paramount, they probably wouldn't.

I don't see what the big deal is. All of my rides on SOB are smooth and all I do is sit in the middle of the cars. But, that's just what works for me. I can't say anything for other people.
