  1. See, I've been all kinds of excited about the possiblities that this sale hold. Just think! We may get entertainment back in the park! Shows in all the theaters! We might actually have concerts at all the ampatheaters again! We may actually do themeing again in all the areas! We may actually get rides that are not themed after movies that will be forgotten in a few years! It's such a plus plus for all involved!
  2. Agreed. I honestly think that people will probably be very impressed with what would be in store for the parks. If they are purchased by the right people we could well be in for some fantastic changes.
  3. I have to agree with Snapper. This is a turning point and if the parks are purchsed by someone more interested in running the parks than supplementing another area, we will all benefit.
  4. Nope, I see it all as a new beginning.
  5. Anyone want to bet if Fearfest and Winterfest will occure this year?
  6. What great video of Vortex.
  7. Depends on how the lease is written. Remember, it's possible that the parks are being sold individually - in groups or as a whole. I could forsee Canada's Wonderland being sold to a Canadian Conglomeration and the remaining US Parks being sold to a US Entity.
  8. Actually that is likely a cost prohibitive proposition. It's more likely that a company that would want to purchase a group of amusment parks is looking to branch out or become involved in this type of business. By no means is any park or group of parks an "easy sale." Someone looking to "flip" a business would not buy into a group of parks for the mere fact that it would be too difficult to realize a return on their investments.
  9. With that kind of news breaking and the virtual sale of the parks eminent, I suppose that will put a limit on what is being invested with NU. I can't see Paramount or Viacom investing a lot into the parks when the sales are basically in the works. If the sale is to take place by middle of the year, the only numbers that really count are last years.
  10. And that is why I think that all of the parks (and we in return) will benefit. The parks are an entity to their own. They are not and should not be a mere advertising tool for Paramount, Viacom, CBS or any other organization.
  11. I don't know but I'm actually excited about that news. I think that if we get the parks into the hands of a group that is less concerned about fads of the moment and concentrating on things that will remain timeless into the future; we will all benefit.
  12. Python is still a great ride at Bush Gardens. And if Opryland were still open, I'm sure they still would be running the Wabash Cannon Ball. A well maintained coaster can run for as long as people are interested. It's clearly evident that folk are still interested in Vortex.
  13. Yes that would tie in the whole International Street Theming well.
  14. Lord We Think A Like! That was Sarcasim! My way of showing how silly the notion of Vortex's years being over.
  15. What I'm saying is that (after looking at their web site) it looks as if all of their rides could be trailer mounted. It looks to me like Kissel Brothers has them on speed dial.
  16. Same with The Racer. It really takes up a lot of area. And heck, they don't build coasters like that any more. I just think that it's lived it's life. <G>
  17. Who was number 100K?
  18. Eeeek Gads! I guess it's been a while since I was up at Wonderland. Honestly (And I LOVE My Kings Island) Wonderland has always been the Jewel of the parks. It's organization and theming has always been top notch. Top it off with the fact that the park is SPOTLESS - And I do mean SPOTLESS. But I can't believe they've installed a ride that has that little of integration with the theming.
  19. LOL! Please note that I did not say that. <G> I should have, but did not. <G>
  20. You're Right! And Before You Know It - We can call NU - Stricker's Grove II.
  21. Hmmm, from the pics it looks like less of a hostile take over and more of moving in of some old carnival rides.
  22. I tell ya! It's gonna come back as Fairly Odd Flight of Fear! <G> But ya never know, they may be boxing it up to send to Carrowinds so that there is room for their IJST. <G>
  23. Fairly Odd Flight of Fear is my Choice! But seriously, I really don't think PKD would take down a popular and solid coaster. That would be as likely as KI taking down Vortex. Now SOB, that's another story. <G>
  24. Probably a closed day for the general public. SFOG opens up on March 4. Goliath opens in April.
  25. SFOG is a nice park. It's clean and it's well run. You'll find most the rides well maintained and running. I'd say that it compares relatively well to Kings Island but then I'm biased. I think that they do some things better and some things worse. It's a give and take thing.
