I can’t believe it has taken 14 years to go back on White Water Canyon. I’m glad you had such great weather when you went.

Went to Sea World/ Anyone been to Wild Adventures?
Avatar replied to king_cobra_27's topic in Trip Reports
To answer OP question no I never been to "Wild Adventures". But I'm looking forward to your trip report when you come back. -
The last few times we’ve ridden the Grand Carousel, I start reminiscing about the way it used to be too. Especially the music box I swear I can still hear the drums and cymbal playing but each time we pass, I realize that it’s only playing in my head.. I would love to share the full glory of the Grand Carousel with my daughter before she gets to old. Here’s to hoping that all the rumors about Cedar Fair fixing up Kings Island include the Grand Carousel and the K.I. & Miami Valley Rairod's theming. CombatStupendous89: monkeyking's not smoking anything the Music Box used to actually play Instruments that accompanied the soundtrack as you went around giving it that grand magical feeling.

I’m with you PKIfan73, we spend $40.00 each time we come just for gas. So I at least hope they give some type of perk on parking. I’ll be a little upset if we haft to opt out, but the upside will be that we’ll get 2 day passes for Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Coney Island and Kings Island of course. This will give us a chance to catch up on some other parks.

^ Well put: Do they want to sell to Families, Individuals or both.

I’m really glad you had such a great trip. We are going to Disney World from Sept 27th thru Oct 10th and are staying on site for the entire trip. But after reading the excitement in you trip report about the show “Believe†it’s making me think that maybe we should take at least one day and go over to see Sea World. -
Thanks I haven't seen that!! too funny!
-
If they go any where over $125.00 (X 4 for us) then we are out and will just buy 2 day anytime passes if they still have them next year.
-
I hope they anounce soon so we can start to budget and plan for next year. When they do anounce the 2007 season pass plan, I think this will the first sign of the direction Cedar Fair is going with Kings Island. What name will be on the Passes, Perks, Parking. ect.
-
Not good I wonder what the real reason why they canced the concerts, I guess they let us speculate and give us a reason to start a new rumors thread.
-
Yeah we can vouch for the large crowd on the ballon glow night. we didn't get to do any attractions because of the large crowds but it was nice to see Coney Island for ourselves. It was to crowded that night to get a good feel for the park but we did enjoy the acttivites that night. Just to see somthing differeante. I don't know when but we'll come back sometime, maybe to ride the BB River Boat thier.

WooferBearATL I 100% agree with everything you are saying, and lets not leave out the minister’s who preach to use, but have skeletons in their closets. What I’m saying too is the message they give out is like clothing. If it feels right wear it o’matter what the name or logo are on it. Same for the message if it feels right to you live by it o’matter who’s giving it.

So you mean to tell me these motivational speakers are only human after all. After all these years of feeling this way. I’m going to need rehab, maybe a Payton Manning jersey to wear for our next visit and I’ll buy a logo polo shirt from KI. I don’t want to over do it at first. I agree to each their own; And like you said if makes you feel good then wear it.
-
For myself nothing so far this year. When I was younger a motivational speaker I had the privilege of listening to said we should never wear another person’s name on our back but you should only wear your own name proudly. Ever since then I have a hard time wearing shirts with logos of businesses. I mean for KI to put up my business logo up they would want to charge me for it, so why should I pay to advertise their business. Just me! Now as for my shopaholic wife and daughter; I have bought 4 pairs of shoes, 3 swim suits about 4 clothing outfits for both, bears with new outfits, 2 Dora dolls, beach towels, lots of jewelry, night lights and about 15 other things I can’t remember right now. I wish they sold more items without all the theme related logos on them. Back when the King Cobra used to let out right into a shop, they had allot of unique items that my wife used to buy so now its usually Spice Girls and the Boomerang Bay gift shop for clothes and jewelry. I think I better double check my bank account balance now!!

On August 5, 2006 we decided (daughter 6 wife & me) to take advantage of The Beach Water Park’s buy-one get-one free 2007 season ticket sale and add to our options of activities to do when we regularly visit the Cincinnati area. I’ll start with the trip report then our personal review of the park. We arrived at The Beach Water Park at 9:20am. I bought the Diamond season passes for my wife and daughter and Platinum season pass for me. Both types of passes let us get in a half an hour early and Tradewinds private seating area, 20% discounts on food, drinks and merchandise. They couldn’t print out our passes because they were out of ink and told us to come back at the end of our visit and they should be ready by then. This kind of worked out ok because they gave all of us the platinum wristband for the day, so that allowed all of us to get free soft drinks for the day. In addition to buying passes we bought 6 Tube rentals tickets for $16 to be used by the end of 2007. So we got in at 9:30am picked a seat and went to the changing rooms and changed. I noticed the men’s room was very basic and need’s updated as first impressions do last. Also I did not see a family changing area available. We went to the kids section Splash Mountain & Jolly Mon Shores, then rode a some rides Snake River, Hidden Rapids, Twilight Zoom and Volcanic Panic. They were fun & ok, but the water pressure on some rides is very low and at times on Volcanic Panic I just wanted to stand-up and walk down!! We then floated in the Kahuna Beach Wave Pool with tubes and that was fun I noticed only the middle wave machine was working and wondered how much fun it would be to have all three working. We then got lunch 1 cheeseburger w/toppings 1 BBQ sandwich w/ toppings 1 cheese cassadiea w/onion, lettuce 1 bag of chips 3 free Cokes and then the 20% discount came to $11.79 a super great deal and the quality was good. In the Tradewinds seating area you can have a patio table w/chairs right next to your lounge chairs which make it real nice to eat and read. Then they made a announcement that for the next hour, Tradewinds gift shop was having 50% off everything in their shop except candy so wife got swim suit, skirt & watch. Daughter got sand toys, new 2 piece swim suit, shoes & I got 3 t-shirts 2 trunks and the bill, But at 50% it wasn’t bad close to $70.00. Went back to our seat at Tradwinds and daughter was able to try out her new sand toys. We napped, swam and snacked until 9pm then they we getting ready to show a movie (Narnia) above the wave pool on 20ft by 20ft screen, they call it dive-in. Our seats were pretty good the moon was out so we decided to stay. Daughter thought it was cool floating in our tubes watching a movie. We left The Beach Water Park around 11:30 pm A couple things that were a negative for the day was bathrooms in the midday needed serious attention glad I wear shower shoes, but can’t help but wonder about people walking through dirty bathroom floors then back into the pools. The other problem was people kept trying to take our rental tubes when were not looking, happened twice once when I had to tell two knowing better teenage girls to give our tube back. I think the park could help this if they put up a couple signs suggesting if using an unauthorized use of a rented tube could warrant ejection from the park. My review of the The Beach Water Park I really enjoyed the parks natural surrounding of hills, mature tress, and feel good on your feet sand. The extra live entertainment was good but would even be better if they would stop the in park soundtrack while entertainment was going on. Some of best laidback friendly employee’s that I have come across in a while; even the food service was quick and friendly. The prices at the park are some of the best family friendly prices I’ve seen in a family park. Now on the downside of the park some of the rides seem old and worn-out. The bathrooms need to be serviced through the day and brought up to date overall. Overall a very nice water park to visit I think it attracts mostly locals and gives the feel of a super nice community pool with extra attractions. The special events schedule makes us want to visit more in the future and we look forward to doing so. RANKINGS: Poor 1 – 10 Excellent Park Price 10 Special Events 9 Food Prices 10 Quality of Food 7 Park Cleannes 7 Restroom Cleannes 3 Employee Friendliness 9 Ride Selection 6 Rides Fully Working 4 Childrens Attractions 5 Overall Ranking Is a Solid 7

I think since you have children it would probably be a good idea for these reason: 1 To save a chairs while your family swims 2 If no chairs are available, then you can sit on your towels in the grass area 3 Spread towels out on chairs to keep the straps on the chairs from digging in on your -- --body and makes it easier for children to nap on if needed 4 Children really like to wrap up in a towel after they been in the water Enjoy your quality time with your family, have fun and let us know how your trip went.

We decided last year to wait one year and let them work out the kinks then we would start making a tradition of it ourselves. Not only did kings Iasland lose our bussinness but hotels and resturantes will lose bussiness from potential customers comming to WinterFest. We are very dissapointed too!! I wonder if they gave the gold pass members free admissions as a perk like all the other places include in thier holiday celebrations as a season pass holder. Would it help sell season passes and drive attendance with sales in the park. Bottom line: It's thier park, but we don't always haft to like or agree with thier decisions

Great Trip report Kdogg, and congratulations on you and your daughters getting to ride the big coasters!! I know It’s nerve racking and just as hard on the parent worrying if they’ll be ok. It always gives me flashbacks from when I started ridding coasters and wonder if they are have the same range of emotions. This last weekend my 6 year old daughter rode Adventure Express with her older brother and I keep giving him advice on how to help her through the ride, Like if she looks scared, touch her softly and say the worst part is over, it’s slowing down now, one more hill to go and we be done. Then they get off and say let’s do it again!! Then you realize they are growing up and that your park experience has just gotten bigger. I’m glad your family had such a great experience at Kings Island on such a hot day

As funny as it is CombatStupendous89 about my daughter learning the control panels for the various rides. I’m seriously considering it after last night; she decided to play like she was working in the games area. I had to trill a hat, throw balls in an upside down kids drum and when I would miss on purpose: I still had to pick a prize!! And let me tell you I was very glad she couldn’t find her mister microphone. So I think for the sanity of this house, Training for rides operator is the lesser of two evils

The Beach--Attendance UP
Avatar replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I think if Kings Island cuts perks and raises season passes prices, I think that we will not buy KI season passes. But instead we'll buy passes to the beach for something differante. Plus it'll give us something else to do if we stay at the Great Wolf Lodge over christmas. I'm glad I found this thread. We'll what say you Kings Island whats it going to be? -
Trip Report on Sunday July 30, 2006 @ Kings Island We ( Daughter 6, son 21 wife and myself ) left Indianapolis @ 7:30am got to into the park for rope drop at 9:50 am. Wife always takes daughter to Nick Universe first, I took son to ride Face/off, Delirium then 2 rides on Flight of Fear with no waits. It’ was now 10:40am so I rush back to our car and drive to Boomerang Bay gate, get in with only 5 minutes to spare before it opens to non Gold Club Guest find chairs in shaded area by wave pool. I swam in a near empty wave pool as the pool just opened .Wife and Daughter joined us , then we rode down snowy river 2 times and Sydney Sidewinder 2 times with only about 5 minute wait for each trip down. We then relax for a little with a trip around Crocodile Run. It’s now 12:10 pm so we ride the K.I. & Miami Valley Railroad back to the park side with t-shirts over our swim suites so we can get on the train. We then rode White Water Canyon with 10 min wait. Next we rode Rugrats Runaway Reptar, Avatar, Fairly Odd Coaster and SpongeBob SquarPants Bikini Bottom Bash twice. Then we went back to Boomerang Bay to get lunch and to rest after a very busy morning. We swam and rested until 5pm. Then we all drove back to the Front gates. We went straight to pick-up our Gold Pass speed lane passes and noticed the School of Rock Show was getting ready to start so we had to watch it again. It is truly a great show and air conditioned too! We then rode Delirium again, then convinced daughter to ride Adventure Express for her first time as she is only tall enough by only centimeters , she did like it. Then we rode The Italian Job: Stunt Track, The Beast, Wild Thornberry’s River Adventure, Scooby-Doo & the Haunted Castle with speed lane passes and no waits, It was now around 8pm and got some snacks & drinks and went to catch the last show for the day of Pop Star Challenge On International Street. We realized that maybe we should enroll our daughter in some dance classes as she was half the show for us. For the last hour my son convinced his sister to ride Viking Fury for her first time, they sat on one side of the ship and my wife and I sat on the other side facing them. I felt like if I yelled when we went up high that my daughter would not think about the ride but would participate in the yelling back and forth. She did and when the ride stopped she wanted to go again & again & again until her brother couldn’t take any more. So up front to watch fireworks at 10pm, after the fireworks we went and bought two outfits for my daughters Bears. By the time we were leaving King Island parking lot, daughter was asleep and my son announced that we go at a too fast pace for him. One last note: When we rode Delirium at 6pm two employees really made our daughter’s day. I believe the girls name that was working at the time was Marian and I remember the operators name was Chris. We’ll when Marian took our passes she told our daughter to stay with her, then when the ride was locked and loaded Chris told our daughter to say All Clear over the rides PA system. Then several people clapped for her and she was very exited. After the ride she told us that when she grows up ( hopefully not to soon ) that she wants to work at King Island. Thanks Kings Island for another great day

We are debating it. We have season Passes to Cincinnati Zoo and Newport Aquarium so there is still things to do, but we were really looking forward to Winterfest. I think if the Great Wolf Lodge, would open by Thanksgiving then we would probably go over that weekend and go else where over Christmas break. Since we have paid the deposite I think we'll wait for further information from the lodge to help our decesion. P.S. Does anyone know where a really good Santa Clause, in the Cincinnati area would be.

Alot of guest complain of the HIGH food prices at KI alot of people may not answer your question infear they'll be precived as being negative. some prices that I remember are $3.50 Hot dog $3.29 Soft Drinks $3.50 Bottled water $5.99 Sub sandwich from Subway (with less meat) $8.99 Shrimp basket $6.99 Fruit bowl That's the best I can remember for now, We stoped eating the small slice over priced skimpy topping pizza. Were from out of town also if you would like to PM me I'll give you some dinning tips that we like. Also it makes a differance if your there for one or more days. If your there for just one day and getting in late, Then plan on eating before you get to KI and add just a little extra for your food budget.

I just don't see how the perks are misleading because these are the same perks that I receive now from either Disney World, Paramont Kings Island, Indianapolis Zoo, Newport Aquarium and Cincinnati Zoo except for option (3). I do understand though, about seasonal and year round attractions. But I trully belive that Cedar Fair would sell alot more season passes with a annual pass. It really isn't that confussing, inprinted on my annual passes it states when my passes expire. I also think it would stop the long lines at the beginning of the year to process the passes. My suggestions on additional perks was to entice guest to purchase a season pass which translates to more park visits and more revenue to the park. some perks are great for some and not for others. Therefore Tailor your perks that works for you without Cedar Fair giving away the house trying to please everyone with every perk mentioned. Just a side note if you show newport your out-of-town license they give you special perks and discounts in the area. Also Cincinatti Zoo give's member appreciation coupons to thier park store, resturantes and other area attractions. P.S. to answer ? above, I didn't think it was a big deal to make a new post two and a half hours after the first post. I didn't usesed to post because I was affraid I wouldn't post just right but I have recieved alot of info from this site and feel I would like to give back a liittle. Feel free to PM me to politly suggest how I should post anytime.

I'm going to add another idea or option for Cedar Fair Gold Pass perks program. First; What works for one may not work for others. Example at the Cincinnati Zoo they offer differante perks to thier annual pass, Like free parking, bring a extra friend and no charge for rides, and so on. Cedar Fair maybe should consider this type of option. You have your standard season pass perks, Then choice of one or two options (note I didn't say charge for add-on's). Like (1) Free Parking (2) Bring a friend free or half price opertunities (3) Other Cedar Fair parks for free (4) Season pass Expire one year from date purchased (5) Free Meal Voucher with purchase of a four pack (6) Out-of-state dicount package (7) Mercandise discount (8) ____________________________________ Also I would suggest that if they would like to sell alot more season pass's they should consider option four. I would not buy a season pass in July under present system, and like myself once we did buy season pass's, we have been back more times than I would have ever imagined we would. It's like everything else you have to give a little to get some back, It would be worth a try at least test marketed. most Zoo's, Aquarium's and other Family destinations offer a annual deal for a reason.
