  1. I would still like to see a well themed water coaster.
  2. I know this has already been discussed but, I really wish KI would just work harder to enforce the smoking requirements they have a this time and move one or two of the smoking areas (like the IJST area) to a more out of the way location so people that don't want to have smoke around them can achieve that goal.
  3. The Knotts name does have major recognition in the California area.
  4. I think one of the main reasons Disney does so well is, they create an experience that touches peoples emotions. Sea World has figured this out and is now creating attractions that can do that as well. (Example: Blue Horizons, Believe and Mistify) The challenge that Universal has is they really have not been able to touch people emotionally with their attractions. Don't get me wrong, I love IOA and the Studio but, when disney puts on a fireworks show or a parade you feel more than just, that was a great fireworks show. Sea World is starting to get this as well.
  5. I wonder what type of park they could have turned KI into? The legoland parks are very well done and Alton Towers is one of the best theme parks in europe.
  6. I am sure some PKI forumers were near the top of the bidding.
  7. Does the brochure list what shows are coming to the park? Also, does it talk about any restaurant changes? Thanks,
  8. The concept of individual Disney hotels is not new. They have a Disney resort hotel in Hilton Head and another one in Vero Beach. They both seem to do very well an I would like to see Disney do more of these.
  9. I agree that KI will never be themed like Disney or Universal and I am fine with that. But, it could be themed as well as Dollywood, Six Flags Fiesta Texas or Busch Gardens Europe. These parks actually have less attendance than KI and they manage to have incredible rides, great theming (rides and area) and some very good shopping, shows and dining. This is what KI has the potential to be and has many of the pieces already in place. My concern is that CF has show no willingness to create a park like this (up to this point).
  10. This tax is stupid and carries risk as some have already discussed. But, what I find most unprofessional is the way the councilman talked to the vice president of KI. Apparently this councilman thinks he is the governor or president to at like that. I am not sure if I was KI's vice president I would have been that polite with him.
  11. I have an aerial of KI from its opening year.
  12. A night time show on International Street that incorporates the fountains, lights, lasers, and fireworks and a well themed water coaster - I really like the spongbob concept.
  13. This was not a KI but a Kentucky Kingdom. We were in the wave pool one day and a condom floated by. The workers had to use the 'fishing net' to get it out.
  14. "...that even the most filled in venue can host a sing along." What about the most filled in venue (the old enchanted theater - which has been used for storage etc... for the Dora Sing Along show that has been at other Paramount parks.
  15. Turn Action Zone back into a Safari/Jungle area. Redo Octoberfest so it looks more like a German Village. That would be the retheming I would like to see at the park.

    Firehawk?

My impression is its to be a military aviation theme and the military hardware is named Firehawk. Theming, I hope so, the line is going to be pretty slow, so lets hope there some good theming to look at with some shade. CF has a history of leaving patrons standing in the sun with little or now shade.
  17. Two trains 800 people per hour. OUCH!!!! With that said, great name and great logo. I also like the color plan.
  18. Please don't get me wrong, I don't disagree that there is good marketing behind their strategy. The point I was trying to make was, I find it interesting that the park wants to create this buzz and get the attention but, when someone finally figures things out they want the info removed. Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too. I think its a great PR move, but I think you also have to except that correct info may get out when you wait this long to make the announcement. Also, parks like Dollywood, Cedar Point and Busch Gardens seem to have plenty of buzz about their new coasters that were announced by in the Fall.
  19. KI could avoid this kind of discussion if they would announce their new attractions in the fall like most major parks do. The longer you give people the time to speculate and dig for information the closer they will come to the truth, usually. I realize that the last two years have been difficult, the NU expansion got changed by CBS late in game and the new X-Flight coaster was a late planned addition to the park for this year. Maybe next year things will be a little more settled.
  20. I think there is a good chance we will see some type of Nick show for 2007. I wonder if they might use the Enchanted Theater for the show?
  21. I really hope they bring the Nick Parade to KI this year along with a Nick Show. Add in X-Flight, a new restaurant, a new show or two and some general park improvements and you have a very good year for KI coming.
  22. I think what they have done to KBF concerns me the most. They really have damaged the theming and overall feel of that park. I have read on KBF forums several people feeling that CF has not done the park justice (in theming), to say the least. With that said, CF seems to be heading back towards theming of rides and areas. Example: Spinning Dragon at WF, Maverick at CP, SSW at KBF. I guess only time will tell if they really are serious about theming and landscaping or not. As a side not: I would love to see the Action Zone rethemed to a Safari Village.
  23. But if Six Flags, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Universal, Paramount and Disney found those heights to be safe an acceptable then why not CF. Which in my book means CF is trying to shave a few dollars off their insurance bill at the expense of the guest experience.
  24. The Interpreter Again, from the press release (with emphasis added): QUOTE Dick Kinzel, chairman, president and chief executive officer, noted that the 2006 figures include results from the Paramount Parks since their acquisition from CBS Corporation on June 30, 2006 while the 2005 results do NOT. Still, they took over at the end of June. Only about a third of the way through the season. So that means the KI and CW only had 1.7 million (if you just cut the attendance in half) in attendance for the other 2/3 of the season. If you work the numbers for the other months that would me both parks had about 2.5 to 2.7 million in attendance for the year. That would be a huge drop from the previous year. Also, that would mean that for the same time period KD and Carowinds only drew about 1 million a piece and Great America only had about 1 million or so during that time period. I am not saying its wrong (it is what it is), but it looks to me like somebody had some major attendance problems.
  25. Some of these parks are pretty much the only amusement park in that region. So they have a chance to make a go of it. My biggest concern in all of this is, I just can't shake the feeling that the Amusement park industry in the US is going into a downsizing era and as a fan of amusement parks that's not good. Over the next 10 years or so we may see several parks go through the Astroworld ax.
