I'm out of Snickers... Time for bed. Lets see what Wednesday brings. If Don needs help with any more arts and crafts, my kids are bored. But they dont like red apples. Can anyone tell me how long the transfer track footings have been on site? Should be close to cure strength by now. But any of the footings being poured right now, don't expect to see anything going on those until the end of Haunt at the earliest.

I got me a king size peanut butter Snickers at Speedway... I have a feeling the Banshee is just a diversion, it only cost $275 to file a trademark, and attorney fees, but FUN has corporate attorneys so its just the filing fee. The official name trade mark will likely be filed on the announcement day, so it will not leak. Or FUN is going to pull out 20 year old artwork and clear out some warehouse space that Banshee recalled items have been sitting in.

Carowinds Windseeker Malfunction
mullimann replied to Leland Wykoff's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well at least when 1 goes down it causes a systematic check of the same sensor banks on all of the sister rides. I would really hate to hear the risk management people at Sandusky when these things happen. Or what they say to Rob Decker about buying them. Knott's is still SBNO, which I still don't get. They were the 1st to get the rescue system, 1st to test it. But still have not re-opened the ride to the public. I can't see why Cal-Osha or who ever has a hold on it, hasn't been satisfied. I still love the ride.. I ALWAYS make sure to use the restroom before I get on.. Just in case! -
Carowinds water main break
mullimann replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Maybe they should ask Holiday World, they went with no water, then a boil advisory and still managed to keep the park open AND still provide their signature free soft drinks. -
Everyones gonna be so mad when this is just a new campground lodge building and light post. Lol Oh yeah remember when I said an announcement would be in August. Expect an announcement announcement soon. And I think Don really likes snickers. Maybe a clues in the vending machines on a Snickers bar. And any statement by Mr. Ouimet will be severely thought out, if he were to make a reference of a new coaster, that could be a forward looking statement which would need a safe harbor disclaimer to protect the company from possible lawsuits if said investment was not completed. Thus why they are so vague!

Because i am sure Arrow gave some deal to KI for top gun, since The Bat was a failure.

That does seem like a lot of storm sewer inlet boxes in a small area. I suspect there will be a large amount of imprevious surface in that area. Looks like they have it going to that headwall structure they built at the y in the service road that goes between the old king cobra pilings. I am surprised that with all the deconstruction last fall, that if they knew they were building in that area, and had the crews, they didnt take those old cobra pilings, i suspect they are pretty hefty and deep if they didnt wanna mess with them. We will know more here in the next few weeks, and hopefully get to see first hand in January.

Perhaps its time for a new teaser on the wall!

Death at Six Flags over Texas

The trains for NTAG use hydraulic locks, basicly a piston that once the valve is closed in the station it cannot retract. This is they same type of restraint used in WindSeeker, drop zone, Delirium, thus why they don't "click" just push down. Thats why you hear that air release when they "up bar" on some rides. Typically there are 2 pistons per restraint for redundancy. But the seatbelts offer a double redundancy, if both of those valves were to fail, the belt would hold you until it reaches breaking point of the belt/bolt. Just like the click system has its own redundancy, each side of the locking bar can withstand the max force its designed for. But again many parks use a double redundancy of a seatbelt. In the end, the outcome will be seatbelts will become standard in most all amusement rides. Parks, manufacturers and insurance companies will determine the slower dispatch is cheaper than the potential future lawsuits. Most every ride at FUN parks have them already, I also expect that companies may also begin to enforce the "guest of exceptional porportions" policies more. Basicly if they have to "click" you now, they won't in the future. If you cannot obtain the requirement without assistance then they will ask you to step off. Im a big guy and sometimes on DB i've needed that lil push, but i also don't want to be the one that could force a part to break while i am on it. Yeah the walk of shame sucks, but I'll skip the rivertown potato company if i cant fit in The Beast. -

Just confirmed myself, via scanner. Chaplains with family at park now. Something you never want to hear happening. -
A call to the Arlington PD confirms there has been a death at Six Flags. Patron believed to have fallen from Texas Giant via @ArlingtonVoice Via Theme Park Review

I really doubt that they would have the announcement that day. Don, Greg and possibly even CF management will be on hand for the press, because they will all want a soundbite from a park spokesperson. It is also the LAST regular season day so staffing will already be thin. That leaves little management left to escort KICentral guest. Expect to hear an announcement before the end of August. Most likely before August 23 the last weekday the park is open. That leaves Sept 8 as a great day for management to show off all those footers that have grown out of the ground for the last few weeks. Don't worry i am SURE an announcement day will be a day that will be posted on KIC

Maybe its a new Huss "giant" ride.. KI has a spectacular record with their rides. Or it could be an Aarow/s&s 4D coaster, thus why no track go be seen in Batavia. If we only knew....

I just want them to put a wall, scrim or even black plastic to keep the light out of haunts like wolfpack, slaughterhouse and holiday horror. The daylighting and security lights totally take away from the scare. And if they could reduce the light in areas or diffuse it with color, so instead of a bright street lamp, its red or purple. And not every light needs to be, but its too bright in the scarezones and some haunts. I would love to see some of the creative designs from knotts be duplicated out here. Daniel miller and Brooke walters are creating awesome haunts that with some adaptations could be hits here.

Owls keep winged animals away.. Scarecrows stand... Banshee... Standup coaster.

There are a lot of flaws with a 9/13/13 release, it is after the regular season, thus loose the word of mouth hype of a end of season announcement. Its a Friday, one of the 1st rules in PR is get your announcement out early in the week, so that its not lost in the weekend. A September Friday night local media spends the evening / late night news on Football. This is AFTER a major enthusiast sites event, thus loosing more word of mouth hype. While a Friday the 13th announcement is nice, would be better fit for a Haunt announcement, not the next BIG ride. Big announcements are typically best when there is a crowd, the fan reaction is what the media wants. To balance the talking bald heads (sorry Don, Greg) at a KI announcement. Major key to any announcement is make people talk.. If you just get 30-60 seconds of TV time, you want people talking about it from being there on their facebook, twitter. I am sure that they will have season pass sales start that day as well! Get your 2014 season pass to ride _____. And if you announce it before or right as everyones going back to school... Thats marketing gold.. Moms and dads know what to buy the kids for a christmas gift. I bet 2007 had weak season pass sales due to Firehawk being announced after the new year. Budgets are tighter after the new year due to holiday spending.

The mystery 2014 announcement will likely be in August. Historically announcements have been: IJST/BLSC 8/12/04 Winterfest 2.0 - 7/27/05 Firehawk - 2/5/07 Diamondback - 8/6/08 Planet Snoopy - 9/3/09 WindSeeker - 8/24/10 Soak City - 9/2/11 I expect something before the KIC event, so that they can give walkbacks, Q/A and show off info. These boards help the park to keep their announcements fresh in the coaster community.

I would go with rides supervisors too. The characters get required breaks, and shorter times on stage based on temperature. Rides sups have to walk and sometimes sprint to rides based on different reasons. To often have someone start foaming at the mouth about how they weren't happy with XYZ on the ride. I know when i worked at Universal I would walk 5+ miles a day. And restroom attendant isn't that bad... I cleaned plenty in my day, and you learn techniques to make it easy.

This is old news. KI security, KI and Mason police followed through and got the guy. But doesn't mean this couldn't have happened at wal-mart, target or even kroger. He's a predator and I'm sure will not enjoy prison when they find out his charges.

Sounds like fun, wifey may not come but kids may want to hang with. Hopefully we get some of the same exclusives like on the 5th anniversary, "KICentral - The Second Coming - 8/16/08."

I have seen that 240 deg sign there for a couple years. I believe there is also one above the front gate. I figured it out!!! Don's been tweeting old song lyrics.. Coaster & old songs = Freestyle Music Park - TIME MACHINE - were getting a used B&M.. Those footers are in just the right elevation and configuration for an out and back RIGHT???? All the footers near Delirium are for the double helix. Please note this post is satirical.
