Which do you prefer? Phantom Theater. Scooby Doo & the Haunted Castle. Like them equally.

whats your favorite area at kings island
italianchef replied to beastbreakdown's topic in Kings Island
Gosh.....that's such a tough question. I'll go with Rivertown because: 1. The Beast is my favorite ride. 2. White Water Canyon is my wife's favorite ride. 3. Kings Island & Miami Valley Valley Railroad is very enjoyable after a meal. 4. The Back Porch Stage usually offers Country music concerts. -
The book signing is between 1 and 3 PM. I'd reckon that your dance is in the evening. If not, I hope there'll be another.

According to Orange Frazer Press' site, the author of The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island will have a book signing at the park next month. I'll probably go since I've already bought 3 copies of the book. http://www.orangefrazer.com/cgi-bin/disp.c...harles+Infosino

I think that the book is similar to a Disney book. That's why I like it. I bought 3 copies at the park, but haven't seen them out of the park yet.

I got to visit the park this weekend - and it wasn't that packed. As I suspected, the metal detectors hardly slowed me down at all. I rode The Beast 4 times, SOB once, FoF once, Adventure Express twice, Viking Fury twice, Scooby Doo & the Haunted Castle once, Top Gun once, Face/Off once, Kings Island & Miami Railroad once and Delirium once. Plus I sang "Brown Eyed Girl" and ate lunch at Festhaus. It was the greatest day that I ever had at PKI!!! Scooby Doo is really cool - but I really wish that they had built it elsewhere and kept Phantom Theater. I really feel that PKI would be better had they kept PT. However, I am VERY IMPRESSED with Delirium. It way exceeded my expectations and it is much better than Kings Cobra. Have fun y'all! ItalianChef

From what I heard of this guy, he wouldn't seek people to "solicit" for him. But he is what my wife calls a "looky looky American" who will joke and brag about his achievements. I laughed when I heard him say on the radio that his wife was the nicest lady "in the history of history". You must've misunderstood him.

Did anyone see The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island at the park today? I was told that it would be available at Emporium and all other retail shops today. I had to work, so I couldn't go to the park, though I listened to the interview on the radio.
-
Really? I didn't know that he was on TV. That's news to me but my friend at Orange Frazer doesn't tell me everything about her authors as I don't tell her everything about the dishes I cook and my customers. I already have a copy of the Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island. But, I'll buy a few more as gifts and souvenirs. If I am at the park tomorrow, I'll listen to the interview from my car radio. But, if I have to work, I'll listen to the interview while I cook.

My friend from Orange Frazer Press told me that the author of The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island will be interviewed on the radio LIVE from PKI tomorrow. The radio station is 88.3 WAIF and the live interview is set for 5:15 to 5:30 PM. I will try to listen to it.

Media Preview Day Today I went to Media Preview Day with my wife and another couple. General Manager Craig Ross and the PKI deserve great credit for this event and the improvements made in the park. Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle was an awesome ride. We experienced it several times. Each mini-Mystery machine has 3 ghost blasters and you can earn up to 9999 points if you hit all 101 targets - unfortunately, my wife always outscored me. I'm happy to report that images of the whole Mystery Inc. - as well as some of their worst adversaries can be seen. It's a REALLY cool experience. And we met Scott Innis, who played the voice of Scooby and Shaggy in several movies. He was a real nice guy and did a funny imitation of my wife's Japanese accent. Lunch was awesome. There was chocolate moose, cake, salad, chicken, pork, and other items. I must admit that even I couldn't have made the pork any better. I saw the outside of Mandarin Cuisine. It is designed like an authentic red colored Chinese restaurant. I was most impressed - as I lived and worked in Asia for one year. The highlight of my day was Delirium. Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle met my expectations. However, Delirium WAY exceeded my expectations. I rotated 360 degrees while being tossed up and down like a pendalum and even hung upside down! I was so thrilled. It was an awesome experience - amongst the best non-roller coaster rides I ever experienced. My chef hat goes off to PKI! They are doing an awesome job.

Close but no cigar. I own both books. History of Coney Island(Cincy) was written by Charles Jacques. The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island was written by Charles Infosino. Both author's have the first name "Charles". Jacques is a French name and Infosino is an Italian name - but Italians and French and Latin peoples, languages, cuisnes, and cultures. Both Coney Island and Paramount's Kings Island are located in Ohio. Those are all the connections. These are two different books written by 2 different authors with 2 different publishers. Have a great day, ItalianChef

I will be there tomorrow at Media Preview Day because I have a high level friend who often dines at my restaurant. But don't expect to see my wife and me run in our underwear in 60 degree temperature for a Delirium publicity stunt.

Scooby, The books will be one sale this Friday. And if you're interested, the author will do at least one book signing at PKI in May. I hope that you'll like the. Personally, I am quite fond of The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island. Italian Chef

Thanks folks! I guess you can now call me Batchef!

I notice that lots of you folks have pictures associated with your posts. How do I get one?

Yogi, It has a park map that outlines the meet and greet, and it lists the character studios. Beyond that, I don't remember. It's hard to memorize a 143 page book. I'm bringing it with me to PKI. It'll be good to have while I wait on line. One cool thing that I like about it is that it lists technical stats like who built which ride, how long the ride is, and when the ride was built. It make great small talk with your friends while you wait on line.
-
Yogi, Can you please specify what you mean by character information? If you mean Hanna-Barbera and Nickelodeon characters....there's not much described about them. There a a few pics of characters in the book, not too many though. ItalianChef

Yes, The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island has technical details about Tomb Raider:The Ride, as well as a picture of it, and even a description of Tomb Raider the movie. As a matter of fact all rides modeled after movies offer movie descriptions in addition to the technical specs and the author's reviews. This book is very much like the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World - but better because it has pictures of many of the rides and the official park map.

The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island lists the Kings Island Resort as one of the three best lodging facilities near PKI. I have stayed there and would rate it a 3 or 4 out of 5. The rooms and nice and the facility is beautifully landscaped. There's an indoor and outdoor pool, an exercise room, shuffle board, tennis and basketball courts, a restaurant, a bar, and the place holds conventions too. Plus, there's a historic perk that the Kings Island Resort and Kings Island park were once owned by the same parent company back in the 1970s. I fully recommend the Kings Island Resort!

(1) Yes, Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle is in the book. (2) Yes, Delirium is in the book. (3) The book costs $11. (4) It mentions a few old rides in the history chapter........but that's it. It pretty much sticks with the current rides, shows, eateries, hotels, etc. Also......it mentions SpongeBob SquarePants in 3-D.

This Friday The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island will go on sale at PKI itself and bookstores in the tri-state. Lucky for me, I have a friend who works at Orange Frazer Press and she gave my wife and me a "sneak preview" copy. The book is awesome! It's 8 * 4 inches in diameter and 143 pages in length. It has the official park map and loads of professional pictures. It has historic information, technical information, information about lodging and dining, first aid information, and even some humor. I am probably going to buy many more copies as souvenirs and gifts. To learn more, try logging on to www.orangefrazer.com But, you'll be able to buy the book this Friday when the park re-opens! I hope that Scooby Doo will autograph my book! Be well, Italian Chef

The hotel across the street from Paramount's Kings Island is the Kings Island Resort & Conference Center. It has 288 rooms and I've stayed there with my wife and even attended a Sci Fi conference there last month. The hotel was never actually owned by Kings Island itself.....but by Taft Broadcasting, which owned Kings Island. Hence, PKI and Kings Island Resort were once owned by the same company, but one never owned the other. Nowadays, Kings Island Resort is owned by a group of business people and managed by one of them. It's a nice place that has 2 swimming pools, an exercise room, a restaurant, a bar, and a game room. The restaurant is nice........but quite frankly if I was the executive chef, the food would be better. My culinary skills are much better than theirs. And it's the only hotel/motel that offers a free shuttle to and from PKI. Additionally, when The Brady Bunch filmed their Kings Island episode, both the Brady's and the actual cast in real life lodged there. So, overall the Kings Island Resort is my favorite place to stay when I visit PKI.
