If You Could Own One PKI Ride What Would It Be?
italianchef replied to Stitch's topic in Kings Island
Flight of Fear AND Phantom Theater...... I would purchase both because they are indoor rides. Hence, rain, sleet, snow, or wind........I can enjoy a roller coaster whenever I want. And PT because I miss it and it is also a weather proof ride. -
I remember reading a couple years ago that PKI signed an exclusive contract with Huntington Bank. So, I reckon that we won't see Fifth Third Bank ATMs at PKI- if ever - for a long time.

I am in agreement with Dino. PKI is the most awesome theme park in the history of history. However, it currently lacks a sit-down eatery in both Nickelodeon Central and Hanna-Barbera Land. The addition of a Nickelodeon eatery would create a child-oriented eatery and make PKI more Disney-like......especially if character meals were served there.

Do you think PKI should bring back King Cobra?
italianchef replied to PKICoasterFreek's topic in Coming Attractions
Sorry King Cobra fans, but don't hold your breath. I liked KC too, but can't see PKI bringing it back. Hey.....I know how you feel. I am still sad about the loss of PT and wish that the park would bring it back. But I am a pragmatic person. If it helps, listen to the Hank Williams Senior song "There's a tear in my beer". It's chorus is "There's a tear in my beer cause I'm crying for you DEAR. You are on my lonely mind." Replace the word "DEAR" with "KING COBRA". Now pour yourself a ice cold frosty beer and sing "There's a tear in my beer cause I'm crying for you KING COBRA. You are on my lonely mind." ItalianChef - A Country Boy Through and Through -
Hey I'm as patriotic as and support the President as much as anyone else. But the term "FREEDOM fries" is stupid. They are called "French fries" even though they are not French. The term "Freedom fries" is an insult to the millions of French-Americans living in the United States. French-Americans deserve as much respect as non-French Americans. The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution gives equal protection under the law for all races and nationalities........including French people. Just because we disagree with the French government about how to implement international disarmament policy, it doesn't mean that we need to launch racist, culinary, and cultural insults at them. Hey what's next? Freedom kissing instead of French kissing. Liberty measels instead of German measels. Let's grow up folks. And were it not for the French...our Founding Fathers never could have overthrown the British colonizers and founded the greatest nation in the modern world. We can be patriotic without bashing France and alienating patriotic French-Americans.

PKI got rid of The Wheel of Fortune - just as they've gottn rid of many rides over the years.

What the park does with its partners is none of my business. After all, I am a park guest - not an employee or vendor. But, I wouldn't mind if PKI traded Huntington Bank for Fifth Third Bank because I have banked with Fifth Third Bank ever since the day I moved to Kentucky 8 years ago. And I am very fond of Fifth Third Bank Additionally, I wouldn't mind if PKI traded LaRosa's for Sbarro as I like Sbarro's pizza much better than LaRosa's. In the Greater Cincinnati Area, Sbarro makes pizza that is closest to New York style. Hey folks.......these are just my preferences.

Hey y'all, I saw that Brady Bunch episode today and last year (I recorded it to VHS last year). It was cool to see my favorite park on TV. I have never had the pleasure of seeing The Partridge Family PKI episode. To my knowledge no TV station plays re-runs of it. If anyone knows where I can see The Partridge Family.......please let me know. ItalianChef

You are 1000% correct. I saw that episode of The Brady Bunch tonight (and before and recorded it). The park that The Brady Bunch went to on the show and in real life was Kings Island. Additionally, on the show and in real life The Brady Bunch lodged at The Kings Island Resort. If you saw The Brady Bunch you would've recognized some rides that are STILL in the park today including The Racer, Eiffel Tower, FLYING EAGLES, and MONSTER.

My favorite cartoon character in the world is Scooby Doo and I'm quite fond of Scooby Doo and the Haunted Caste. However, I miss Phantom Theater very much. Without it, my park visits just aren't the same.

Dare I Say There's Another Legal Topic to Discuss?
italianchef replied to gabelogan99's topic in Kings Island
I don't know. My guess is that if you keep it for yourself it's kosher. However, if you want to sell it for profit........then there might be legal issues. -
Today I went to PKI with one of my friends. We got there early and rode FoF twice, The Beast twice, AE twice, and a number of other rides. We couldn't ride TR:TR until the latter part of the afternoon because it was down until then. HEY - I noticed skelatons encased in the ice stalcalites at TR:TR and didn't notice them last year. Are they new?

Well folks, there are 5 choices if you could change Wings Diner. Which would you choose? Any other ideas?

PKI book radio interview MOJO Thursday 8:50 AM
italianchef replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
I can't remember everything from the interview. But I recall that they discussed Scooby Doo & the Haunted Castle, Delirium, The Beast, and FoF. -
Groovy! Thanks for the tip. I love watching PKI on TV. I always record shows that feature PKI rides and watch them in the off season when I can't go to the park.

Do you think PKI should bring back King Cobra?
italianchef replied to PKICoasterFreek's topic in Coming Attractions
The PKI management staff got rid of King Cobra for several different reasons. It would make no sense to bring it back. -
PKI book radio interview MOJO Thursday 8:50 AM
italianchef replied to italianchef's topic in Kings Island
Did anyone hear the interview? It was funny. The author started by telling one of the interviewes that she was a beautiful and radiant lady. -
I was told by my contact at Orange Frazer Press that the author of The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island will be interviewed by the beautiful DJ, Laura Powell, this Thursday 5/1/03 at 8:50 AM on MOJO 94.9 FM. I will listen to the interview from work. I hope that it'll be funny and educational. Cheers, ItalianChef

David Mandt says goodbye PKI, hello Carowinds!
italianchef replied to Shaggy's topic in Kings Island
I met Mr. Mandt on several occasions and he was a great professional. His departure will be a great loss for Paramount's Kings Island. However, I also know Mr. Siebert, who is also a commendable professional, and I think that he will excell in his new position. ItalianChef -
Well I join in wishing Kings Island & Mr. Siebert a very Happy Birthday!

Though I am not a barrister, I can almost guarantee you that it is NOT illegal to take pictures of TR:TR or any other attraction at PKI. I know this from my limited law education (I dropped out because I didn't like it) and study of copyright law. However..........I do not know whether or not it is against "the rules of PKI". For that you would need to consult with a park official. As a institution, PKI has the legal right to mandate its own rules and expel guests without refund for any infraction of those rules. I will tell you my best educated guess.......and I'd say this it is AGAINST the rules to take pictures while on TR:TR because The Beast lists that it is against the rules to take pictures while riding it. I reckon the logic applies to all other rides. Also, I can imagine one person accidentally dropping a camera during such a ride and the camera falling and causing damage to the ride - which would cost money to repair. Or worse - the camera may fall and injure a guest - and tort law ain't pretty. In addition to compensation for medical and legal expenses......people also sue for punitive damages.....and those are ugly. So, in conclusion, I say it's best not to take pictures while riding TR:TR. But if you want the facts.....consult a park representative. After all, I'm a chef, not a lawyer. SML828, Thanks for the info. Do you folks get a good discount? Do only seasonal employees eat there or full-timers too? Is it open year round or just seasonally? What kind of food do they offer? Thanks......ItalianChef

Do you work HB? Thats the only place I know that gets free food at Oscars (one of the benefits for getting people over there) What is Oscar's? I have never seen it: 1. At the park. 2. On a park map. 3. In The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island 4. On the PKI homepage. Will someone please tell me what and where Oscar's is? Is Oscar's a cafeteria strictly for employees?

The Kings Island Story would be a great idea.......if we were still experiencing the record economic growth that lasted until mid-2000. Face it folks we are in a very bad recession. Would it be financially prudent for PKI to dismantle The Paramount Story and build an outdoor PKI museum with old parts? How many more people would visit the park to see a museum? I don't think the increased revenues would impact the park enough to justify the expenditures. The capital investment would be more wisely invested in a thrill ride or mega-popular family attraction that will attract a large demographic segment into the park to increase ticket, food, and merchandise revenues. ItalianChef PS - If any of you doubt my knowledge of economic because I am a chef who earns his living in a kitchen...I just happened to have an MBA.
