  1. Sorry, no Hibachi food at Mandarin Cuisine.
  2. The book costs $11. It's sold at PKI and major bookstores throughout the tri-state. I THINK that those of you who work at PKI get a discount when you buy it at PKI.
  3. I wasn just wondering if anyone on this forum other than me bought The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island? Several of my friends bought it and like it. And I bought and like it too of course.
  4. Any idea what kind of sushi they serve, and whether it is made fresh daily? Sushi that isn't made fresh daily is unhealthy for you. I like California Rolls, though when it comes to sushi. A little soy sauce, some wasabi to spice it up a notch. Mandarin Cuisine's "sushi" are California Rolls. Since I don't eat seafood, I didn't try them.
  5. I can't recall exact prices, but I think that entrees are $6 and change, sushi is $4, and for $9 you can get combo meals (2 entrees plus rice/noodles and an egg roll). For PKI or another amusement park, that ain't bad!
  6. Hey, did anyone eat at Mandarin Cuisine yet? The architecture from the outside looks awesome - and authentic. And the inside has great Asian murals and lanterns. The menu is great. They offer cashew chicken, chicken lo mein, General Tso's chicken, Bourbon chicken, Pepper Steak with onion, pork fried rice, and more! Mandarin Cuisine even offers SUSHI (which is Japanese not Chinese). And the food is quite tasty. This ItalianChef recommends Mandarin Cuisine when visiting PKI!
  7. Can't we all just get along? Hey, I'm a Christian too and I was home with my family on Easter Sunday. But I chose not to go to PKI only because I wanted to cook a nice Easter meal for my wife: 1. Oven baked honey ham that was marinaded for 24 hours in white wine, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, and honey. 2. Ham sauce made of pineapples, soy sauce, ketchup, mustard, and corn starch. 3. Candied yams. 4. Corn on the cobb. 5. Vegatable medley (carrots, green beans, bell peppers, onions, and asparagus marinaded in chicken broth and steamed with butter) 6. Toasted Italian bread. 7 Strawberry pie, made from scratch with a touch of Marsala wine, for dessert. I spent many hours in the kitchen. But if I were single.......I would've spent the day at PKI - and I would've been overjoyed by the short lines. Let's not argue about religion. To quote Little Tim from the Christmas Carrol "God bless us all, every one of us." - ItalianChef
  8. All I want for the 2004 season is my 2 front teeth..........just joking! I'd REALISTICALLY (because I can't get PT and Graveyard Shift back) like: 1. A new steel roller coaster. 2. To see Wings Diner revamped as a Nickelodeon restaurant that offers character meals. 3. A small ferris wheel.
  9. I don't think that Preston T. Tucker's Roadside Cafe is offering the chicken BBQ sandwiches. I'll check on my next park visit.
  10. Today I visited PKI with my wife. We experienced SpongeBob SquarePants in 3-D for the first time. She found it cute and I thought it was entertaining. Plus we tried Mandarin Cuisine for the first time. I was very impressed with the quality of the food. Amongst other things...they offer pepper steak, chicken lo mein, crabmeat rangoon, cashew chicken....and much more. Plus they have sushi (Japanese food). And of course my wife and I rode some of the great rides at the park as usual. - ItalianChef
  11. I think that the article was pretty cool. The author did a great job of describing PKI's new rides and its new book.
  12. The new PKI book is in a big article with a review of the new (and some old) rides in the Weekend section of today's Cincinnati Enquirer: http://www.cincinnati.com/freetime/weekend...03_weekend.html
  13. I hope that Scooby Doo will be popular in 2034. That year I will be 62 years old. I hope that I'll still be in shape to ride The Beast. Otherwise, Scooby Doo and The Beastie might be all that I can ride.
  14. I'm quite sure that Paramounts Park can acquire the rights to an Indiana Jones ride. And may I say that Mrs. ItalianChef and I rode the Indiana Jones ride is Anaheim's Disneyland and it rocked! Since AE is a "family" coaster, I don't think that it is thrilling enough to be an "Indiana Jones" roller coaster. BUT.............I think that it would make a superb YOUNG INDIANA JONES roller coaster! What do you fine people think? Sincerely, ItalianChef with a beautiful Japanese Bride
  15. I ate at the park last Thursday (media preview day) and last Saturday. The desserts were great on Thursday! I ate chocolate moose, Delirium cake, and Scooby Doo cookies. And on Saturday I ate chocolate cake again. PKI offers great desserts. And I too hope that Festhaus will serve the brats and metts once served in Oktoberfest Gardens. After all, Festhaus is the only remaining German themed eatery in the park.
  16. Yeah i know i said PKI needs Places were kids can sit down eat and see there fav nick character Hey Chef i wouldnt give up Scooby for nothing! Dino, Idealistically, I wish that we could have both SCATHC and PT. ItalianChef
  17. I agree that FoF should get a new video and be re-themed. Since PKI is owned by Paramount, I'd theme it and rename it after Star Trek.
  18. I rode Adventure Express last weekend and the only thing that I noticed was that the first tunnel looks way different. But I can't quite say how, is it bigger?
  19. Thats a coaster what were talking about is a dark ride yes it was changed because of The Beast it was hyped back then! and yes the top 5 cartoons of all are Mickey,Bugs bunny,Simpsons,Scooby!!!!! So that means HOMER is a top character! Dino, I fully respect your enthusiasm for Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle and I am a huge fan of Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, and all Hanna-Barbera characters. It is very nice to see that you are so confident that SDATHC will always be around. And you have every right to feel that way. All I point out is: 1. Every 10 years the haunted attraction is changed, so odds are Scooby will go in 10 years.......unless it's TOO popular, in which case it'd probably be upgraded. 2. Yes, right now I'd say that Scooby is MORE popular than Mickey Mouse and rightfully so. However, no one can predict who will reign supreme in 10 years. I hope that Scooby will still be as popular as he is now. My point is, please keep an open mind because no one can predict the future. Aside that, have a great day!!!!!
  20. Don't aplogize for expressing your own opinion. So, long as one expresses their views in a civilized manner - no one should take umbrage. And your posts were not in the least bit unbecoming. And for the record, I think that SDATHC rocks! And it'd trade it in a heartbeat for PT because I think that it rocked even better.
  21. Hey, I am one who always wants PKI to be more Disney-like because Disney is the industry leader. I hope that there will be Nickelodeon Cafe with character meals. I am guessing that the Nickelodeon breakfasts coming up (the first on 5/3) might be an experiement. Not to get off topic but last year I read 2 articles about PKI in The Mason Community Press. In the first, the author compared PKI to Disney - and he pointed about that Phantom Theater was very similar to the Haunted Mansion. And in another article, the same author compared PKI to Universal Studios. The premise of both articles is that PKI offers many things that Disney and Universal Studios do. Hence, I hope that PKI will become more and more like the industry leaders. TR:TR was a step in the right direction - as was SDATHC. Though in all honesty, I'd gladly give up Scooby to get PT back.
  22. Sorry, but PKI does not have any restaurants in which characters visit the tables like Disney does. However, rumor has it that this may change in the coming years. Personally, I recommend Festhaus. It is one of only 2 restaurants in the park with indoor bathrooms and it has a wide variety of food. You can get chicken tenders, burgers, pizza, and more. And it has movie screens, video games, and skill cranes for entertainment. If you want more information about PKI's dining, I recommend purchasing a book that I recently acquired: The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island Orange Frazer Press This book is sold AT THE PARK in all retail shops and book stores throughout the tri-state (OH, KY, & IN). It has an entire chapter on dining and its full of information..........including advice to parents with small children. If you can't wait until you visit the park to purchase the book (though I did), log on to http://www.orangefrazer.com Again, I personally recommend Festhaus.............and I'm a chef! Cheers, ItalianChef
  23. RyanA, My wife and I both agree with you that Phantom Theater was VERY similar to Disney's "Haunted Mansion". And we've ridden that ride at 3 different Disney parks in 3 different time zones. Yes, Scooby Doo is an awesome ride. But personally, I very much miss Phantom Theater. It had a charm that no other ride can replicate. And if I were a rich man.....I'd buy the figures and sountack from PKI and build a new Phantom Theater for myself on my estate (that I'd build). A major perk about PT was that the lines were short so one was able to ride it again and again in bad weather or after eating. SDATHC is very popular and its lines will be long for years to come. Anyway, I'd like to express my continued fondness of PT nearly one year after its retirement. ItalianChef
  24. Kings Island changes the Haunted House every 10 years, so most likely Scooby Doo & the Haunted Mansion will face the same fate as its predessor in a decade. I agree that Scooby Doo is the most popular cartoon character now. But will he be in 10 years from now? This decision will be made in part by children who weren't even born yet. Just to let you all know, I am a HUGE Scooby Doo fan, but I am also an objective person.
  25. I haven't been to a book signing in years. I reckon it should be interesting.
