  1. Where is Mrs. Grundy when you need some one to correct grammar? I failed German the first time I took it, but I still understood German better than I do this guy!!
  2. Yes some of the rides are SBNO.
  3. Jerry Couch, he owns an RV center on the property now.
  4. To take a line from Interp. "Yes" On a side note, I had the opportunity to visit a hand full of times. It was a great park, very relaxing next to the lake. Wow, did you ride all three rollercoasters? No, just Big Dipper and the Wild Mouse (originally from Geauga Lake). The Wild Mouse was a lot of fun, it was in the perfect spot in the park too.

..The food is actually good too. Believe it or not, they have their own version of SOB. It's called "Flying Turns" they started to build it in 2006. The bobsled style coaster was designed and built in house and was going to be opened in 2008, but is still not open. The only up side is, no one has been hurt on it yet.

I would tend to say that it would be hard and a little more expensive to do pay per ride at a park like KI but it can be done. It would also benefit the more aggressive park goers. For example, There would be a general admission of say $20 some attractions would be included but the more popular ones would have an up charge. That would lessen the line on those attractions but those who do not want to, or can not ride will not be charged for it. In this case it would be cheaper for most of the park attendees. There is a park that you can go to and enjoy yourself for about half the price of KI and it is a pay per ride park: http://www.knoebels.com/rates.asp
  8. In the US, yes it mainly deals with the steel industry and is generally put up when the steel side of the project is finished. It is intended to signify that no one was injured or killed in the construction process. In Europe it is used in both steel and wood. The whole idea of a pine (evergreen) tree is that it signifies life, and is the same reason it is a symbol of Christmas.
  9. Avatar, great reports, I always enjoy reading them. My daughter never liked the Disney scene, she is a small park lover like me. Although nothing beats that one trip every couple of years with the family. I would have loved to see Starship, that would have been fun. The girl singing is Stephanie Calvert, she was raised in Connecticut I think. She has performed with many different groups like Michael Grimm, great voice. p.s. Good move adding a picture of mother in with the mix, brownie points always help after a vacation.
  10. Oh, I forgot the "keystone", that would have SUPPORTED my whole theory.
  11. So what you are trying to say is that the support is supporting the support, so they need to make sure that neither support fails the other so the support can support the track? Monroe on a roll to defeat boredom.
  12. Monroe who started crying before he opened the link, because he knows what was inside. I have only been to Palisades Park twice, but I loved every minute of it. And just think, Coney Island Board Walk is a buzz with "PROGRESS". Let us be thankful for what we still have close to home.
  13. ^It's for the new coaster, Diamondback. Monroe, just doing Interps job.
  14. Uh.... N I C K E L S Sigh Terpy, who just HAD to By the way, it costs the mint 9 cents to make a nickel! http://www.starbulletin.com/travel/2008101...rth_a_mint.html Well the word that got me at the spelling bee was D-I-M-Z-S
  15. C-R-O-W-D-E-D whats that spell! I was out on the first round of the last spelling bee that I participated in, but I think it spells N-I-C-K-L-E-S?
  16. He did not capitalize the "T", so it is not considered part of the title. So he is correct. Nice pictures, I am glad you had a great time.
  17. ^I am some times as curious as George to how many rides we have actually ridden together without knowing.
  18. I do understand that, I just did not want you to think I was bashing you in any way. I just miss the old Coney board walk, and many, many other attractions in that area of the country that are no longer.
  19. "Vegas-style 9 acre theme park"? I am sorry Interp, I know you have a fondness for the north east, but I am getting tired of the "want to be" attitude of a city that HAD IT ALL. That city has slowly thrown it away a little at a time. Next thing you know they will get Disney to develop central park. I think the next time we take a trip up north east, we will just go to Buffalo and the Carousel Factory. http://www.carrouselmuseum.org/
  20. ^^Is there any way you could turn that last picture around? I am a hankering for some southern BBQ.
  21. I miss you Nick, (The short one on the right) my dear friend your voice will bring spring into our lives soon. In the interim let us enjoy the music and the view. Thank you for the pictures, I can't wait to get home tomorrow.
  22. Never pick a fight with an ugly person, they've got nothing to lose. Robin Williams oops sorry wrong one. I think this quote explains it along with the last quote in my sig. You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. Robin Williams
  23. I don't know about Metallica, But I remember Barbra.
  24. See I learn something new all the time. I didn't know about the hydraulic fluid warmers. Now are those something that came after the issues with TTD in the begining and were new for KK or did TTD have those in the begining. I only ask because this is the first I have heard of them. If you watch the radar reading of speed on TTD, after a roll back you can tell they dial it up because it usually launches 5 to 10 mph faster. Just overall a great ride to sit and watch. Fluid case heaters are pretty much standard on equipment like this. I did NOT work on TTD, so I can not tell you for sure if they were there from the beginning. The wear and tear on the equipment would be tremendous to send cold fluid through a system like that. Like I said though, the warm up is to warm up the cable for flexibility and the wheels on the trains. They "Dial it up" to save wear and tear on the equipment, normally it will run at about 80% giving them 20% to play with. (20% is actually a lot of power). At warm up (in the morning) they will run it at about 50% and work up to 80% in a short time. Once again, I can only go by what I have been told about TTD, but KK I am pretty sure that is how they still perform warm up. You were pretty much on the right track, I just wanted to add my......well......now it is worthless, but it used to be two cents. Hydraulics are a great source of power, but MUST operate at a specified temp, too cold or too hot will cause a failure.
  25. I would rather see them get rid of some of the rides and keep the gardens than to sell to these yahoos. For some reason, I just have a bad feeling about them. But it all comes back to money. I was really hoping that it was European investors.
