11 Theme Park Flubs (2 Kings Island rides!)
Monroe replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Considering the two "flubbs" from King's Island lasted longer or just as long as the others, I don't see this being negative at all. It only shows that they are dedicated to there customers, and they will put forth every effort to provide a safe and enjoyable park. There are parks that have had much worse flubbs than any of these, you just don't hear about them because the parks are not very popular. -
^The third time I was smart enough to take a cut away model with me.

Not worried at all Terp, I spent eight years in college one full year just on the characteristics of AC alone, the one thing I took out of that year was that there is no real one way to teach it and have every one understand it. After 40 years of experience, the one major thing I have taken away from all of this has nothing to do with the physics of power, one word, respect. Oh and never mention the word capacitor to a lawyer on the stand unless you can describe it in detail including how it is made. Monroe, Flying away for a little Sun and Fun.

AC= Alternating Current In the USA we use a 60 Hz system (60 cycles per sec.) meaning the current changes direction 60 times per second. (easiest way to explain it.) LIM= Linear INDUCTION Motor - The magnetic field (In this case metal plates on the side of the ride vehicle) is induced, created by an eddy current, (simple terms it's faked) The vehicle is pulled along the track by a constant current from the motors mounted on the side of the track. LSM= Linear SYNCHRONOUS Motor - The magnetic field is constant and created by natural or earth magnets. The current of electricity is synchronised with the magnets. Simple terms, the motors on the side of the track turn on and off as the magnets pass. (This type of motor is used for mag lev technology)

Ruth, sure would be nice to hear her voice again.

Just a reminder.

Holding on to my daughter as the horse went up and down on the carousel when she was young. Laughing as my wife screemed and squeezed my arm as we went down the first hill on Bavarian Beetle. Listening to my Mom giggle over every bump on the Tumble Bug as she slid into me.

Didn't say it was "stuck", I said it was "sitting there". As far as it being "colored in yet", what if I was color blind? Just asking.
-
I don't think this ride is going to be vary reliable, that train has been sitting at the top of the hill since before track was there. I wish they would just fix the lift mechanisim and be done with it.

How about a Disco, very popular in Koria. I was on one in Japan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2jHiIsG8ZE

Last Intamin was built this year; looks like a prototype : http://rcdb.com/10044.htm Is that in one of those Chinese ghost cities? No, it is actually just outside of Wuqing. Wuqing is basically a military base not too far from Tianjin. In China, most "amusement parks" are not that at all, most are just community parks with some rides. If you look up Tianjin on RCDB you will find about a dozen parks near there.

I also blame the Catholics, the North Koreans, the Yugo, the Easy Bake Oven, and Big Bird. Take that back Hank Big Bird is not to blame for any thing!! (Monroe, a die hard libertarian who is sick of the libertarians.)

One final guess, It will be a flying inverted winged dive passive mag lev coaster themed to flying monkeys, the suports will be mauve, and the track will be fuchsia. The name you ask? Well that's the kicker, it will simply be named the monkey ride.
-
Owl long has this been going on? So Don, what your saying is this coaster will break all of the ACE RECORDS out there even this one?
-
Oooooooh soooooo close to gaining my respect, but then you throw this in, thanks for playing though
-
Oooooh see what happens when you put tobasco on the fried jalapenos, every one gets upset and argues! Sorry gang, I'll try something lighter tomarrow.

Yes I(fth) Yes I(fth) Yes I(fth) (STOMP) Yes I remember how to fix a skip. (Stomping can also fix lights in the basement if you do it right.)

HaHa break out the Chesters flamin Hot Fries, I'm gettin my Passive magnetic levitation coaster themed to flying monkies!!!
-
I was just watching the Wizard Of Oz while eating flaming hot chex mix, when I started to peace it together. If it is not a flying monkey themed coaster then I'm switching to light fabric softener with no starch, and plain old generic greesy potato chips. (Man do I get gassy after eating those) ^Green is typically waist watter, grey is typically for electric I don't think the park would change that for safety reasons.

I was looking for this and found it on my old pc, not exactly maglev but PML is probably as close as it will come in the coaster world. This came from some MIT guys and Disney. Read up, very interesting. http://www.google.com/patents/US7950333

Maglev? As in the train? I've never heard of a Maglev coaster. Yes it has been toyed with in the Asian market, but never to full scale. sharp turns seem to be the biggest drawback, also power usage, the higher the weight the more power is needed. I did see a short peace of track with a single person car on it at a traid show once nothing to wright home about. Gang showers. It's gonna be a big room with nothing but a gang shower. No, then every one would be jealous when I pull my snacks out. (thought I was going to say some thing else didn't you).
