  1. Well my daughter has done it to me again. She is standing over me and laughing saying, go ahead and ask I dare you. Well curiosity has gotten the best of me: Who is Nick and Jessica, and what significance do they have to KI?
  2. I think you're right. I'll edit the caption and my post. Thanks. I should probably stop trying to speculate. We could be both wrong Thane. I was looking at the animation, and it shows some guide/power tires just out of the station leading to the lift. Oh well it's still going to be fun to watch them put this one up.
  3. ^OK so you caught me, so I like "Crazy Horse" (That is one cool picture to use for an avatar.) http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/survi.../44-84745.shtml Better than Diamondback. (The blue diamonds look purple against the red, I hate purple.) http://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/survi.../45-11471.shtml
  4. Monroe will not be able to make it. He......I mean I will not be in town. He......I mean I will be in Germany. His daughter.....I mean my daughter will also be out of town and will not be able to make it. (Darn Interpreter, rubbing off on me and I am sure many others.)
  5. Well I don't really think you deserve the bragging rights, (because you really did not give a definitive name, and you said Diamondback last.) it was the first time that Diamondback was mentioned on this thread. Only two people mentioned Diamond back, so I guess you can fight it out with each other. One last thing, I do like the name and the designs they have come up with. I also think that we will all have a lot of fun on this one. (Truthfully, I will always call this coaster "Crazy Horse" in my heart.)

Thanks for the clarification Monroe. I didn't mean to imply you don't know what you're talking about (but to be fair, there's no reason to believe one way or the other without siting sources) I was just surprised that a potentially dangerous situation could be caused by an op simply pushing a button mid-ride. Like a MCBR, I assumed resetting the catch car would be controlled by the computer system. No problem, I would rather you ask questions and discover things on your own, than to just take some ones word for it. I had a teacher that would tell us half the fun of knowing is learning.

Thanks for getting my back Terpy.. CoasterKrazy, The ride (along with any ride) will not operate automatically. It must have commands from an individual to operate, ether to start or stop. It can run a process after all safety's have been meet, and a command has been given from a human to run. The KK situation I do not think ever happened, but the possibility was there early on in testing. When some thing like that is built, a lot of things are done at the last minute. Unfortunately for me it is always the control system, and that was the case on KK. There is a button they call the live button, it must be pushed after the train clears the hill. This tells the system to re-set for the next run, if it is not pushed, the catch car will not re-set and the next train will not leave the station. Before all the safety's were in place, the system would re-set no matter where the train is on the course. But with the safety's there, it must be re-set after the hill. It is called the live button, because it tells the system that you are alive and know what you are doing.
  8. They have started to post clues on a New York web site now. Helbig you sly dog you. http://www.wnbc.com/news/17047883/detail.h...ny&psp=news
  9. ^That looks more like transfer storage track than lift hill track. Those are guide wheels to move the train from one spot to another.

...and with the launch speed back to what it's supposed to be. 0-60 in 4 seconds has not only a much better ring to it, it also has a much better ride to it as well. Not to mention you don't feel like you're going to valley right before the top-most point of the ride. Speaking of valleys, has anyone experienced a roll-back on either Flight of Fear or Backlot Stunt Coaster? Backlot rolled back with me one day. I found it to be quite an interesting rush, though I preferred the whole ride. I'll have to remember that when I ride KK. And the backseat on FOF is where I ride, so I quite agree. You've never experienced a roll back until you have on KK. Now that is a rush, especially if you know how the ride operates and you hope the operator did not release the catch car too early. They have safeties now that will not let the operator release it until the car is on the descent, but if the catch car was near the release point it would stop you faster than any breaking system could.
  11. Any Day it is not raining........oh wait, never mind. Truthfully I find Tuesdays to be the best, but that is just me.
  12. Yeah, I know about Firehawk. But I was thinking more along the lines of 1-man cars that run along a single tubular track and swing back and forth as you go around turns and whatnot. I think you might be looking for some thing like one of these: http://www.rcdb.com/ig3388.htm http://www.rcdb.com/ig3050.htm The manufacture is family owned and are a lot of fun to work with. http://www.wiegandslide.com/wiegand-home.html

Now that is a perfect example of an oxymoron. You mean an oxymonroe, and I thought that it would have been caught a lot faster than 8hours. Oh well I guess every one is concentrating on other things, I don't know what it could be, but life must go on.

The launch is stronger than Back Lot Stunt. As long as you keep your head against the back, you will not have any problems. The coaster is a joy even the first time you ride it. My daughter rode it for the first time 2 years ago, she was scared at first but was smiling in the picture at the end of the tunnel. What he means by brake is: there is a brake mid course just before the cork screw. They use it for timing and to slow the train to an acceptable speed for the cork screw. It is actually a nice brake, even with it dark you can make out certain things. Make sure you post here after you ride it, so we all know how you did. Have fun.
  15. ^Unless it is the eye of a pilot, but I know a bunch of them and none of them have eye's like that. But I am sure the eye is just to throw you off.
  16. Its not Mustang! P-51 Mustangs don't have eye's. The eye is there to throw you off.
  17. They got lucky, see how close that is to Roar. This really surprises me, SFA has a good crew there. I would not be surprised if it was arson, but we will see.
  18. I was on Rutschebanen at Tivoli Gardens, and the brakeman had a seizure. I was too far back to do any thing. A boy about 12 years old was able to hold the man up in the seat, and bring the coaster to a stop. (In the station no less, not perfect but good enough for me.) http://www.rcdb.com/ig1054.htm
  19. Ruth Voss would say there is no age to be too old. As a matter of fact, she thought it to be therapeutic for her arthritis to ride The Beast. And for heavens sake don't call her old, she may have passed on but she will let you know that she is not old.
  20. ^^^I was trying to fix the parallel 5th that appeared in the second line of the chorus.
  21. You would think that a thread about track would follow the track. Not here at KIC nooooooooo we all must make fun of the band geeks......I mean members.
  22. monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically, monolithically. Ha let's see you do that 10 times.
  23. This looks like fencing for live stock......Mustang any one? (An old man can dream can't he?)
  24. First off, thanks for the PM Ronny, I think I just needed to hear that. I guess I will have to keep trying for that perfect Corsair picture. My Father had flown about 20 missions in that plain, and about 65 in the Dauntless, he preferred the Dauntless. I think we did get the shaft with the F104's, because some of the videos I have seen have included some time to climb maneuvers and some cross passes that I did not see on Sunday. Most likely the cloud cover forced some maneuvers out. I was more upset that they parked them behind the F-22, and you couldn't get a good static of them. Well thanks again, and maybe one day my daughter will help me get some pictures on here for all to see. (I blame her but I guess it really is my fault, but don't tell her ok.)
  25. Sorry for the double post once again. Yes once in a great while we get an orion in this area. All are on the west coast and Texas, I think all of the east coast Orion's are gone, not much use for an anti sub plane any more. I don't like Wikipedia, but I just looked it up and it has some good info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-3_Orion Also, don't let that anxiety get to you, the pilots know what they are doing. And you are right, it is not every ones thing, just keep trying and one day you will fully enjoy it.
