SFKK is a small park that is land-locked and has a ceiling. They can't expand and the height restrictions of their rides due to the close proximity to the Louisville Airport certainly limits their capabilities to make it into a great park. I don't know who planned the layout but it's not the easiest park to get around either. In my opinion there is only one reason to go and that is to ride Chang. Although Thunder Run has some nice air time, but is a short woody. This year they are advertising a new expansion to their water park called Major Wedgie. The park opens May 10th. The water park opens May 24th.

I agree with the above whole-heartedly - Push back the plate people!

Yeah, that's her and I on the Fairly Odd Coaster. I thought the link was cumbersome so I decided to edit and post the photo outright.

Thanks for your comments Interpreter. I really enjoy your insights on this forum.

This was my daughter's first roller coaster ride, she was four years old this year and simply loved it. Passing on my love for coasters to the next generation. Sarah's first ride & all smiles!

Official Poll: After One Season, do you prefer new SOB or old?
Jeffy replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
During my '07 visit SOB was closed still, I do not have a frame of reference to comment. However from many of the post here and at other sites it appears that the new trains that were the impetus for removing the loop are more comfortabel to ride in and I'm all for that. Hopefully my '08 trip will include several SOB adventures! -
Move One Ride from Anywhere in the Country to KI
Jeffy replied to MarketingExpress's topic in Coming Attractions
I'm all for that. What a dumb move it was! -
The last time I rode it was Summer of '07. The slide needs to be rehabbed or removed. The abrasions that the slide has practically stops your forward progress.

Perhaps some of the rides from Geauga Lake will find there way to KI?

Bavarian Beetle, Sky Lift (Transport ride) it was great to get acroos the Park w/o walking and very scenic too! I also like the Keelboats as well, that Laura Kroft ride was not a good replacement for the Keelboats.

There needs to be a change in the calendar to the Park. September is the best month for weather, the driest and less humidity than any other month during the open season. And before you say, KI needs to close or shorten operating hours due to the young employees going back to school. I think the Park would do better with more mature operators and employees myself. It is also a bummer that Boomerang Bay closes Labor day weekend too.

I wonder if there will be plans to keep open Boomerang Bay, or keep open Nick water "ride" where you get soaked walking though the different spray apparatus? It's supposed to be 95 this Saturday!

I'm sorry, but do you mean the Flying Eagles? Here are some pictures from this site; linked below http://www.KICentral.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=98

That reminds me of the time I got stuck in the Sky Lift that they took out a long time ago that transported you from one side of the park to the other. We stayed up there for what seemed like hours.

I'm sorry but there is not a ride on earth that I would wait five hours to ride. I am glad Theme Parks install new rides because everyone goes to that ride leaving me to walk on most of the others. So I'm not the first thousandth rider on the new ride who cares? I'll catch it in 2009 when they install the new end-all, be-all new ride then.

I really like the LaRosa's Pizza at Kings Island. Although it's pricey, it's very good. With a good frosty beer, it can't get any better than that.

When did you start going to KI and where did you hear about KIC?
Jeffy replied to Young Gunz's topic in Kings Island
My first trip to Kings Island was in 1974. At that time the big attraction was The Racers. I've gone back every summer! I've ridden every coaster that has ever been at the park. I can remember the old canoe ride where the 3-D theater now sits. My favorite has to be The Vortex, with The Beast a close second. My favorite trip was during Grad Night in 1981, all of my high school buddies were there, we had the greatest of times. I also loved the Jimmy Buffett concert in the mid 80's, when I went with my fraternity brother Jim Minor, we got way too wild that night! Where are you JIM??? I found out about KIC on a web search a few years ago, researching for a new ride to put in a park I was designing for Roller Coaster Tycoon. -

I remember smelling smoke other than tobacco when I visited the park in the early 80's.

The Son of Beast was actually smoother than The Beast my last trip (June 7th). I didn't notice all the roughness that I experienced last year. I had a headache last year after riding SOB. The Beast may need some re-tracking as I felt some crazy bumping that I had never experienced in the last 20 years I've rode it. As far as the loop, no worries. It will be over quickly. The first helix on SOB is the wildest part of the ride in my opinion.

I was there at the Jimmy Buffet concert in 1985, it was a great concert and the park was wild that evening. Almost as wild as my grad nite in 1981! Whew!

Has anyone heard about CF making Boomerang Bay a separate ticket from KI? I have read in several places that CF parks with water parks are separate tickets.

What happen to the option of buying a general admission ticket and you're allowed to visit the park after 5pm the evening prior to your full day at the park? I've done this for several years now and it works out great. I'd go to my hotel get settled in and ride the bus to the park, around 5PM, then the next day I could go for the whole day of fun. I don't see the option on PKI's website this year. Oh well guess I'll have to buy the two day ticket.
