How Old Were You When You First Visited Kings Island?
Jeffy replied to LongliveKingsCobra's topic in KI Polls
My first trip was 1974. I was 12 years old. I remember playing a game on the way; the winner was the first one to see the Eiffel Tower. -
I was at the water park a few weeks ago. Same songs all day. I asked one of the venders there who were selling dippin' dots about the music and he got sick of it by the end of the day. He said all day heck.. the music has never been changed it's like that every day. I asked him how he coud actually take it, and he said, "hey it's a job!". Change the music KI for the sanity of all employees and guests!

If I ever ride the Son of Beast again it will be too soon. I have never thought it was a good coaster. It's only attaction is it's height and speed and there are plenty of drawbacks including how rough the ride can be.

I would have to agree the Coasterbuzz podcast is rather dry and not very entertaining. While I have subscribed to their podcast and have listened to them for over six months, I would have to say that it is very much like watching paint dry. I know that with the right personalities that that type of podcast format and interests would be quite entertaining, I am surprised that ACE doesn't involve themselves with such a project.

I was there the same day "Corn". It had rained earlier in the day and it looked like a light crowd most of the day that turned out pretty good weather in the end.

I was there last week. I took a good look first from the Eiffel Tower to see where to go to take a closer look. Riding the train and walking towards The Beast and White Water Canyon were decent views.

I see you got no help from the guy in Frankfort on your question, really why even post if you have nothing responsive to say? Just a guess, from past experiences but the days before a major holiday are fairly busy, however Tues., Weds and Thurs. (minus a holiday) have been historically the less crowded days I have attended in the past. I hope this helps and perhaps you can use the search in this forum I have found that it is very helpful with finding topics I have wanted to read. Good luck enjoy your trip!

Grad nite 1981! Last time my high school buds were all together.

I've been going to KI since the mid-70's. The Racer was the first big rollercoaster I rode in my lifetime. It is also the first one that my son rode as well. This ride as a special place in my heart and with the restoration this year it portends a long life for one of my favorite rides of all time. Additionally I have never been to the park that both sides were not running, however it was always somewhat disappointing when they did not "race". (start at the same time with the same number of cars on both trains.)

Thanks for the trip report; sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Four times and I was pretty much beat to death the 1st year it was operating, of course I was much younger and foolish then!

Photo TR: A pleasant and unexpected visit.

Thanks for posting your photo trip report I enjoys these type of reports better than anything on this forum. Great photos and impressive well-written report! Thank-you very much! -
The past four years we have stayed at Kings Island Resort And Conference Center. We have bought our park tickets there at the hotel for 5pm entry to close at the park and a full next day. We have gone on Tuesday evenings after 5pm. and the full day on Wednesday. Tuesday evening we are able to practically walk on any ride except for Firehawk. On Wednesday we go all day and have not experience a huge crowd either. I would commend this type of itnerary to anyone who doesn't have a season pass and has to stay a hotel. The Kings Island Resort And Conference Center offers complimentary shuttle buses to and from the park so you don't have to pay for parking, the hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, nice breakfast buffet that you can fill up on and not pay big prices at the park and you can go back to the hotel during the day if you have to cause the buses run all day long.

Off topic a bit; but why can't KI have a webcam.... SHOOT!
-
Thanks for the info. Seems like there are a lot of little items from the past strewn all over the park from days gone by; little bits and pieces of theming that really has no context for current rides or areas. Thanks again!
-
Ok.. what is the tank next to Delirum; kind of looks like a water tower. Why is it there? What's the theming context ? I've been wondering about this for years.

What? A flock of puffins? In Southern Ohio??
-
Bug aversoins; pretty funny. Cicadas are harmless.

July 8th and 9th! I can't wait! WOOT! I am not old but I am no longer young!

When I first started reading websites like this I was skeptical of people who claimed that too, however I can tell you that you do notice different feeling depending on the seat. This is is most evident at KI on Beast and Racer. Each car has three rows of seats. Take a ride in the back of one of these rows, then grab another ride in the middle of the three rows and compare. The middle row is by far the smoothest ride. However, on rides like SOB you are forced to sit above a wheel, the front on SOB is the only seat I find to be somewhat smooth. What evidence do we have to say that? Woodies are for the most part not smooth, it really doesn't matter what seat your own you are going to be jarred a bit and depending on the ride the level or degree will be greater or less. If you want smooth ride get on a steel coaster.
