  3. When you "process" your pass, you're having your photo taken. There's no way to do that over the phone. The person you talked to at the park was right.

  5. The user was banned as soon as we were informed of the incident. A special thanks goes out to everyone who let us know what was going on. Ryan
  6. This information was given to me by the park. Barring outside interference that is out of the control of the park such as a weather delay, they plan on doing the early rides on the 18th. This, of course, will be after the first riders get to ride. I realize that Kings Island's site does not yet reflect this, so feel free to call the park directly at 1-800-288-0808 for further details. Speaking of first riders -- we're less than a week away from the Diamondback First Rider Auction closing, which will be next Wednesday, April 15th at 8:30am. Remember that 100% of the proceeds will benefit A Kid Again - a charitable service to help local children in need. A Kid Again is a 501 ©(3) non-profit organization and all bids are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the IRS code. Click here for more information about the Diamondback Auction!
  7. Make sure you process your 2009 Gold or Platinum Pass early before April 18 so you can enjoy early rides on Diamondback, a season-long perk, on Opening Day. Information on early pass processing can be found on Kings Island's official web site. For more information go to VisitKingsIsland.com or call the park directly at 1-800-288-0808.
  8. It's very similar to Maverick's sign. That's kind of appropriate since it's a similar theme, though.
  9. You may be correct, but I'm willing to say that they will have temporary queues up for the first few weeks.
  10. Word from under the Black Hat is that you may be dead on in your statement. April 18th??? Are you here yet???
  11. Diamondback, Kings Island's 230' steel moster set to open in just under two weeks, greets its soon-to-be-thrilled guests with its brand new entrance sign Both photos courtesy of Don Helbig
  12. Awesome trip report! To augment what you said about the scoreboard: it was actually a $10 million renovation, replacing the scoreboard with a state-of-the-art HD scoreboard. You'll also notice that the vertical posts behind right field that used to tote the banners of all of the NL teams now has been replaced with incredible graphic displays as well. Glad you had a good time.
  13. You are absolutely right. I went to Coastermania in 2008 and it was a blast. We started with a ride on Millie soon after daylight and ended the day with trim brake free rides on Magnum and Gemini! Dragster was also running until about 12:30am too. If KI does RWW the way Coastermania is done, it will be one fantastic event. Well worth waiting for. Hopefully with trim brake free rides and all!! I've heard little tidbits of information here and there from under the Black Hat and I can tell you that if you liked Coastermania, you'll LOVE Ride Warriors Coaster Weekend.
  14. The landscaping and little things like that are not finished around Diamondback. As stated above, the Diamondback POV will be released some time after the ride opens to the public, but nor necessarily on the 18th... or even near the 18th.
  15. +++MOD EDIT++ Cleaned up this thread. Please keep things on topic - Diamondback Construction
  16. +++Side Note+++ A note to all Kings Island associates -- Please remember that if you are a Kings Island associate that you are NOT to post any information that is not public knowledge on KICentral. Anyone who posts information outside of public domain will have their posts removed and their information will be sent to the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Associates know what can and can not be posted. Thanks, Ryan
  17. You have to take it for what it's worth. Vortex is a very prominent object in the park. Flight Deck is stuck in a valley in the corner. It's not that Flight Deck is going to be removed, or even that it's not well maintained. That's not the case it all. It just isn't as essential to paint Flight Deck as it is The Vortex, Racer, Drop Zone, Tower, etc.
  18. No, I'm not quitting! This is just a friendly reminder that there is less than two weeks to place your bid to be one of the first members of the public to ride Diamondback! The auction will officially end on Wednesday, April 15th at 8:30am and the top 192 riders will have the privilege of riding Kings Island's new 230' steel monster before it opens to the public. Remember that 100% of the proceeds from the auction will benefit A Kid Again, a charitable organization that benefits children and the families of children in need. Remember that A Kid Again is a 501©(3) not-for-profit organization and all donations and bids are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the IRS tax code. What do you get if you win? Be one of the first to experience the best new roller coaster in the world for 2009 Receive a commemorative first rider ticket Get a special gift from the park An admission ticket to enjoy the day at Kings Island The satisfaction of knowing that you did a great thing for someone in need Click here to place your bids! Time is slithering away!
  19. Obviously we're very excited about this project. We'll definitely keep what on-goings of Wake Nation in front of you.
  20. From the Kings Island Insider Blog: "Workmen have been busy the past several days repainting the track on the popular Vortex roller coaster. The Vortex has thrilled riders since it opened in 1987 by sending them upside-down an incredible six times! In fact, the ride was the first roller coaster in the world with six inversions. The Vortex has given 35,278,352 rides in its 22 seasons -- seventh-most in Kings Island history!"
  21. In this area everyone calls cook outs BBQs for some reason.
  22. Didn't Surf Cincinnati close before you were born? To answer your question, no - it's nothing like Surf Cincinnati. That was a waterpark like Boomerang Bay. If you read the description above and watch the video that I posted you can get a pretty good idea of what it's all about.
