They are DEFINITELY charging $1 for 3D glasses now. If they were FREE to start with, they should be FREE now! Thank Goodness I kept my FREE ones! I just reused them over and over. It's sort of misleading to say Halloween Haunt is included with park admission, and then you charge $1 for one of the attractions! That's ok, just gives me one more thing to check off on why I hate Haunt and wish it GONE!

It's been a lot more crowded on Friday nights than in the past for some reason. Not as bad as Saturday nights, but not dead either. I dont remember Friday nights in the past having rides that were queing. The Beast and Diamondback have qued almost every week. Even on Diamondback, the bottom feeders have been used. It's been quite disconcerting to say the least. Another reason to re-read another post I have on here!

I'm hoping for the last thing you said to be true. Whatever the case, it's closed for the rest of the season. I'd like to see it removed, and maybe get a new top spin that works and put it in the old Action Zone area, and use the space for an Intamin coaster in the future.

Big Dipper at Geauga Lake, Now What?
RaptorGuy replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, I was really hoping she would have talked to the Strickers about possibly putting it there. That would be a great addition. Well, my other fantasy is, if it has to stay up there, see if they can move it to Euclid Beach, and have a resurgence maybe on bringing THAT park back to life as it was 40 years ago! One can hope and dream! -
If you're referring to the building right next to Winnie Witches Cauldrons there between The Scooby Doo Rollercoaster and the International Street shops, the one end of that building houses First Aid. It was there to mark that facility on the map. That's why its on there.

No, the train never ran any other way than the way it does now. The maps in the 1970's and early 80's all depicted the train going that direction for some reason. I never really knew why, though.

That part was a joke, lol Actually, D.L.R, the Ferris Wheel was where the Rotor was. It sat literally right next to the Festhaus. It was there at the same time as Viking Fury. I think it was probably removed after the 1983 season. That could be off by a year or so, but I remember riding it in 1983. Also, on the log flume, just as an FYI, the 2 lift hills were NOT replaced. They are the originals from Coney Island. The rest of the trough was replaced. I would love to see them bring back the grist mill, though. It was just 2 years ago that I realized it was gone! It's probably been gone for at least 5! Anyone know where it might be?

Nope, they were passing them out when you got in line. I kept mine, so if they've started charging, and I decide I want to see it again, I will have it! This is one that I actually like going through, because the spinning tunnel is really fun!
-
"Racer was a one-train wait, but they only had the red side open when we were there." Just as an FYI, its going to be that way the remainder of the season. The blue trains have been put away for the winter already.

Yeah, when I was waiting to go in that morning of the bobbleheads and saw how many people were lined up behind me, I jokingly said, I sure hope they walk in and get their bobbleheads and turn right around and go right back out. Turns out, that is EXACTLY what they did! Maybe, thats what they will do again!

My coaster dream for KI would be for them to get rid of that worthless Crypt, and either put in a spinning mouse inside that building with themeing like Kennywood's, or tear the building down, too, and put in an Intamin similar to Maverick, only taller, faster, and longer, and more inversions. My other dream would be to build a B&M floorless over the Trail of Terror similar to The Krypton Coaster, but I've already mentioned that somewhere here.

Driving to Kings Island from the Dayton area
RaptorGuy replied to Flat Freak's topic in Kings Island
I used to live on 741 in Mason, and did a lot of work in Dayton. I would say to avoid lots of traffic lights, the best way would be to take 75 to the Franklin exit. That's State Route 123, and take that to State Route 122, turn left. Then about .3 miles is the Red Lion traffic light. Turn right on 741 and go straight south. That might be the easiest way to avoid a lot of traffic and traffic lights. -
holy jam packed park, Batman!

I'm not trying to be mean or anything but it's really annoying when you post your "wanting Cedar Fair to stop Halloween Haunt" rants in a bunch of threads Again, not trying to be mean or rude. This was only the 2nd time I brought it up. But, it wasn't a Haunt rant. It was an overall rant about how upset I was that the park was over crowded again for the 3rd week in a row, when I expected differently. I didn't expect it to be totally dead, but I did NOT expect a 3rd week in a row of over crowdedness that we got today. And also, I just mentioned Halloween in passing. And to finish it, I meant it for ALL Halloween everywhere. Not just Cedar Fair. That goes for Six Flags, and Universal, too! -

Im not sure what is causing these things to happen. It's disheartening when you have to leave the park because its so crowded. A crowded park, and I mean VERY crowded park is an UNFUN Park! And its outrageous for Kings Island and Cedar Point and any other park out there to do whatever they have to do to bring in as many people as possible. It does NOT change their bottom line. People get mad and leave and no money is spent. I for one will NOT spend money on a day like that, just to prove a point to not allow them to earn profit off me! When you have to walk elbow to elbow and wait for extended periods to ride rides that you normally would walk on and wait less than 5 minutes for, that is JUST NOT RIGHT! Another reason I wish they'd quit the Halloween crap! -
Should KI and Cedar Fair Discontinue Halloween Haunt?
RaptorGuy replied to RaptorGuy's topic in Kings Island
Thanks Terpy for saying that! I appreciate it! -
There was a nature trail that went down behind The Beast. It's now closed off as an employee area. Diamondback pretty much goes over and around most of the area where that was. I walked down it maybe 3 times total in my life. It had a really good hill to climb, and you could go down by the creek. You could also see The Beast track from there. I think it might have appeared on the maps in the mid 1970's.

The Der Spinnen Keggers was where that sandblasting art thing is now. The Canoe ride was directly under The Beast Station. I think there's remnants of it still there. The Zodiac (double ferris wheel) was where The Bobbles are now. The Marathon Sunshine Turnpike was where that Snoopy Theater is now. Just as an FYI.
-
The Bavarian Beetle was where Festhaus is now. The Rotor stood right next to it. The Screamin Demon (later changed to just Demon) was where Congo Falls currently sits. Where Invertigo is was once a bird show, and later a picnic pavillion.

Voyage is my number one coaster anywhere, and everywhere, wood or steel of ALL time! It's truly imo, the coaster to end ALL coasters!
-
That's not my usual plan, but if Maverick pulls an INTAMIN..... Terp, who is fond of closing day at Maple Grove Where and what is Maple Grove? That sounds like an amusement park in the early 1900's!
-
I will get that all set up with Mr Kosmac, so he knows whats going on. Generally be at the entrance by 7:59, and when they come out to get us, we will go ride it.

"Orlando Thrill Park" Being Considered
RaptorGuy replied to thekidd33's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
What? Another amusement park to be built by a FAILED company of 2 parks so far? Freestyle sat closed down all season this year. They've had a terrible time trying to get that going. Now, they think they can build something right smack dab in between 2 of the biggest destination parks in America? Who are they kidding? Why don't they stick to trying to get Freestyle going first, and then build something else. Plus, does that area need another park? You have Sea World, Discovery Cove, Universal Studios (2 parks), and then the small ones like Old Town down the street, Magical Midway and Funspot. Not a smart move, but considering how they failed at Freestyle, probably typical of them. I'd recommend for this outfit, they get Freestyle going first, and then build a new park somewhere else. That area in Florida is NOT a good idea. Maybe find another big city in another place that doesn't have a park that could sure use one. Charleston, West Virginia could use one for sure. Wouldn't mind seeing a new theme park built in Nashville, Tennessee. But, whatever happens, I wish them all the best! -
I agree with Kirk here. Kings Island, Cedar Point and parks like that do NOT need a fast pass system. There are many days at both that you can walk on the rides with less than a 5 minute wait. Even on Diamondback or Raptor. Both parks proved in the past that a system like that does NOT work well. Disney World is a worldwide destination park that is open year round. They get way more guests on a daily basis throughout the year, and they've perfected the system to work for them. Once upon a time, Universal Studios had the best system, but then they changed it to something where you can only get that if you're a resort guest, and its not readily available to GP, as it is at Disney. I wish they would have kept that old system. It was wonderful!
-
Disney World does Fast Pass the best in the industry. Six Flags makes a horrendous charge for their system, and its not that great. Kings Island and Cedar Point both tried versions of it in the past, and they weren't that good either. Cedar Point you had to wait in line to get your hand stamped, and you could only get 2 a day, one for each hand. Like on Dragster, it opened up at 2pm for that, and if you were there at that time, you had to wait about 45 minutes just for the stamp. So, you've already lost a lot of time there. It wasn't very efficient. The system Kings Island had was only on certain days, and usually on days it wasnt crowded in the first place. They did go to a walk on weekends, but you only got 3 tickets and certain times, and they didn't always jive to work at the times you wanted to ride. The system at Disney, it's NOT an upcharge, and it works out so you can get one about every hour if they're available. Then what you do is get a fast pass for a certain ride, and you can go ride the ride next to it and when you come out, you go straight to the ride you have the pass for, so in a sense, you've waited in line for one ride, but got 2 rides out of it. They have it organized to be very efficient.

SFNE Fright Fest Fire
RaptorGuy replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Oh, my mistake. Someone on here, who I wont mention told me that the one at Great Adventure had closed down. Thanks for clearing that up. You'd know for sure, though! I feel a little better about that now.
