Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
RaptorGuy replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
This was covered last month, someone posted pics of how a new que could be added to Vortex. There is no need for that. That ride is almost 25 years old and no one really cares about it anymore. Plus, it had extra que under the station once upon time and it was removed because they never used it. Vortex is on it's last leg. I suspect it will vanish in the next 5 years. No reason tocdo any upgrades on it! -
Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
RaptorGuy replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Obviously, this shows how generic the names are at Kings Island, because the writer of the article didn't capitalize it! The tower itself is not taller than Drop Tower, but you will be higher than the drop point when you are riding. -
One of which you've never ridden, so how do you have an opinion on it? On opening day I'll buy two tickets at the buffet. One for my American self and one to make up for the meal you would've purchased. I won't need two tickets, so I'll give one away to the first family with young kids I see. This way your boycott and points are moot and I helped a nice parkgoing family save some cash - well technically you did. Golly jeepers. Why did you ever visit the park before it had Diamondback? I just glanced briefly at the operating calendars for this year and last, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it only a few days less that they're open this year and didn't they add more of staying open till midnight on some nights? I bet you'll still have plenty of "dead days" where you can do nothing but ride Diamondback. Why wish misfortune on a park that so many people love? You take the Acer "right of entitlement" stereotypes to new levels. Actually, I have ridden one like it in Florida, and I was NOT impressed. In fact, when I got off, I actually got down on my knees and kissed the ground. And before Diamondback, I rode Son of Beast and backwards Racer, both of which have been taken away from us. Another senseless act. And for your question of misfortune: Well, I feel that when they take something away that I count on, that that just isn't fair. So, maybe it wouldn't be fair if they opened a park with their feature ride broken down. I'm just saying, I believe the majority who attend the ERT's would much rather ride an airtime roller coaster, than some boring spinning in the air ride, that probably has the thrill of putting a hair dryer to your face!
-
I will be there at opening, but I will NOT be participating in ERT, because they are NOT offering ERT on rides that I like! And I would have stayed ALL day, but since they took away my ERT, I am taking away their income! I would have to buy food and drink at the park, and I have no intentions of buying ANYTHING at Kings Island this year! I will probably stay til about noon, depending on how many rides I CAN get in on Diamondback. If its only one or two per hour, I will leave no later then noon. If I can get a few more than that, I will stay as long as possible. Since they've chosen to open so dang late this year, I doubt it will be a dead day, unless it rains or something. Typically, opening days are light crowds, but thats been when they opened earlier in April. They are opening with Music in the parks right out of the chute, so it will probably be a little more crowded and if its anything like Cedar Point was last year, expect a lot of rides to break down! With any luck, maybe WindSeeker and/or Vortex will break down before the park opens, and they will HAVE to open Diamondback and Beast as replacements! One can only hope!

2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
RaptorGuy replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Glad you got the same information as I did! (I always worry when I'm the first to post something, that the person who told me it only did so to get me off the phone.) This sounds pretty generic to me. Reminds me of, "Raptor is currently down due to technical difficulties. We don't know how long this delay will last. You are welcome to wait in line, but if you choose to leave, you will forfeit your place in line..." or my VERY favorite, "We have no idea on the future of Son of Beast at this time. We haven't even thought about Son of Beast since March of 2010!" Just scripts they are instructed to give, is all. -
2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
RaptorGuy replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Good to know more and more people are calling. Maybe the park can find a middle ground that satisfies everybody. I just don't see how boycotting WindSeeker is going to make Diamondback come back for ERT. Why not let someone at the park know your opinion instead of ruining your experience even more? I, like you, want the old ERT setup again. I don't understand why you wouldn't call the park and let them know your opinion instead of just going off on a tirade. Work with the park to get the experience you want, don't work against them. Now, that is a very constructive suggestion! Thank you. Nothing insulting about that. I will do that! I appreciate the suggestion, and appreciate how it was given! -
2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex

I am very disappointed in some of you resorting to personal attacks on me. I don't believe in ANY of what I said here, I ever mentioned someone else who posts on here, and made fun of them for what they write. I may have disagreed or questioned one person on their comment, but it was NOT a personal attack on THEM! That is extremely childish, like bringing up that I was angry over some things that happened at Haunt, and I felt like if Kings Island could not do a better job than that to take care of the bad situations that Haunt brings, that they don't deserve to even have that event. That is how I feel. There is no reason to lay down personal attacks on me, because I feel that way. I have NEVER called out one particular person by name, even when they said snide remarks to me or about me. I am not going to call them out by name here. YES, if KI makes this move to not include DB or Beast in the ERT session, but to include rides I couldn't care less about, I will be VERY angry at them. There is nothing wrong with me feeling this way. They would be doing something I don't approve of, and I can be angry with them and not spend money at KI because of it, if I am that angry over it. There is nothing WRONG with me feeling that way, or doing that. It's a Free Country, is it not? If I choose to NOT ride WindSeeker because of it, that is MY perogative, and I have that right. If I choose to tell others to not ride it, that's my right too! The ones I say that to, they can choose to either go along with me, or ignore me, and that is their choice as well. I wont be mad at them if they decide to not listen to my suggestions. I don't understand why those of you that have decided to attack me personally, feel that you had to do so because you disagree with what I said. I know it may not be what some of you would decide, but if you want to say so, just say "Hey, sorry you feel that way, and sorry you won't get to experience WindSeeker, but I am not going to let that ruin my fun", and I will say, "That's ok by me, that is your choice!" I don't appreciated comments like, "Oh, that's the same guy who told Kings Island to stop having Haunt, he's a wacko!" Getting angry over someone's poor decision does NOT make for a wacko, folks! -
Who Plans to be a Windseeker FIrst Rider?

2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
RaptorGuy replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I still don't believe that this is true, however, if it SHOULD turn out to be true, I WILL go rogue on both rides. I will boycott both rides for this season and break with tradition and NOT ride the new ride at KI at ALL during the entire first season! Vortex is TOTALLY un-re-rideable! There is NO WAY I will sit on THAT for 15 rides without getting out on a Saturday morning! Who in their right mind would even WANT to do that? I would have such a headache, I would not want to ride ANY coaster or ride for 2 weeks if I had to endure that! I will ride the CP version of WindSeeker to see what I think of the ride, but I will NOT Ride KI's and I will poo poo the ride to everyone and say it was the worst ride KI got, if they decide to have ERT on it! What a waste of valuable time to have ERT on THOSE! Sheesh! -
2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
RaptorGuy replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
Because its only one ride if you're lucky. I like to count my rides and I am trying to get hundreds of rides in a season. Without the ERT, that would NOT be possible. I could get 20-30 rides a day sometimes. Without an ERT session, I will be lucky if I get 5 in a day, because I will only come at night if there is NO ERT for my 2 favorite coasters. -
2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
RaptorGuy replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
That would be silly! And also, you can't sit on Diamondback for 15 rides in a row without getting out of your seat doing that, as you can during ERT! Sort of defeats the purpose. -
2011 Gold Pass ERT includes WindSeeker and Vortex
RaptorGuy replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
IF the ERT is Vortex and WindSeeker ONLY, I for one will no longer bust my butt to get to Kings Island for ERT! That would certainly be another one of those "DUMB" decisions that they like to make from time to time! Those are 2 rides that I really don't care for, so no reason to get to KI that early. I can come later in the day, and eat somewhere else for lunch before I get there, and spend my money somewhere else, not a problem on my end for sure! I just wouldn't think KI would be into ticking off their best customers, like those of us who like to ride DB a lot. We tell other people about that, and they are more prone to come to KI because of it. I know that D.H. has a great respect for the late Ruth Voss, my she rest in peace, and would never do anything like take The Beast off the morning ERT line up. It's been there since the ride opened. I know for a fact, that Mr Helbig has a great respect for the American Coaster Enthusiasts, and he knows how much we love having that Beast ERT time available. He would never take that away. That is FOR SURE! We need to make sure that we always THANK him for doing the ERT on Beast and Diamondback, and THANK him for ADDING those other rides. Heck, its a big plus to make them additions. That way, you can do your DB for awhile, and then do a couple of Beast rides, and head over for WindSeeker, and then get ready to be the first in line for Firehawk! I am sure that is really how it will be. -
The only thing I can say about this whole conversation, as far as Action Theater goes, SPONGEBOB 4EVER! ANYTHING ELSE, NEVER!

Admission prices up at more Florida theme parks
RaptorGuy replied to rotag's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
All of the Florida parks have increased admission prices at least 65% in the last 7 years. I doubt anyone has gotten a 65% pay raise in that same amount of time. I don't know how these parks can justify such a huge increase for their parks, and how people can actually afford to go! The Cedar Fair parks, and I assume Six Flags have only increased their admission by a few dollars over the same time period. A day admission to Kings Island now is around $50. Most of the other parks are in that same neighborhood. Florida is WAY beyond that for some reason. But, of course, according the current commercials running for Disney World, if you stay on site, you can save 25%, Whoopie Doo! They act like THAT'S affordable! "Oh We can do that!" Ha ha, yeah right, if you're Bill Gates, maybe! -
I rode it several times in 1981, and once or twice in 1983. It was my favorite Arrow Suspended coaster, until I rode Big Bad Wolf. Now both are sadly gone
-
Actually Ty, The Bat was not removed until 1985. Bat was removed in 1984. No, it sat as SBNO during the entire 1984 season. It was dismantled during the 1985 season. I have pics of it being dismantled from the Eiffel Tower in 1985. I was there!
-
Actually Ty, The Bat was not removed until 1985. It actually ran for about 6 weeks in 1983. They tried to make a come back with it, but that unfortunately failed, too.

Ark Bible Park In Kentucky?
RaptorGuy replied to Coasterkidd23's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Of course I would love it. Why wouldn't I like the idea of a new park? Why wouldn't anyone like that idea? I think they should maybe consider some arrant coasters that are sitting out there not being operated, like Screechin Eagle and others that seem to have no hope of survival. They could maybe play off some resurrection theme for them! Could be a great idea! I hope it works out. -
They already have that type of thing down by Vortex and Spongebob. I think that looks and feels real nice! I'd love them to do the whole section in that!

Kinzel: Much Ado About Nothing, Says He
RaptorGuy replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I hope they will go outside of the bounds of the company fold to hire a new CEO. I'd like for them to maybe consider Jane Cooper! I think she would be an awesome CEO for Cedar Fair. Then we would have things back to Paramount style days, but with some of the CF style situations. I vote for HER to be next CEO of Cedar Fair Entertainment! Anyone second that? -
I hope they're putting in cobblestone bricks there, too. All the areas they've replaced the blacktop with that really look good. I would like to see the whole park done in that. Canada's Wonderland is completely done in it. I'd like to see Cedar Point get it, too. Blacktop is so hard on your feet when you spend a whole day at a park and have to walk on it.
-
The option I would choose is NOT even on there! Where is "Bring Back Winterfest?" That is what I would choose over all of those!
-
I'd be willing to go out on a limb and say, The park DOES know what they're going to do about Son of Beast, they are just refusing to talk about it for whatever reason they may have. When they say they haven't even talked about it or thought about it since March, I would venture to guess that's a lie. I do agree, we may as well stop talking about it until something does happen or comes from over there. Then when that happens, we can give Cheers or Jeers to whatever that is. I'm sure the park reads all of this stuff, and knows how each of us feels. I for one don't want it torn down, but would like to see it reprofiled in some way to make it a little better. That's just way too much wood to waste by destroying. I wouldn't mind seeing the loop back myself!

The parking lot at Kings Island is an absolute DISASTER! Unfortunately, I can't totally blame it on Cedar Fair and current management of the park. It all started during Paramount days. The entire lot needs to be dozed over and redesigned and rebuilt from scratch! The first things that need to be removed from the next design are Preffered Parking and Season Pass Parking. Although, I do think its pretty cool to have a perk like that, where I can park in my own area because I have the big pass, It's not operated properly, and with the ignorant operation of it, it becomes a problem at times. They don't staff it the entire day. I've gotten there a lot and it wasnt staffed, so anyone could sneak in there and park. That ticks me off. They put up cones in the lot that takes way out of the way to get to the pass lot, which I fail to see the reasoning behind that ONE! Another one of my many haunt complaints, I arrived one night in October a little later than normal, and some idiot had put up so many cones, I could not even figure out how to get to the pass lot, and ended up having to drive all the way up to the north lot and make a HUGE circle to get back to the pass lot, and then found it UNSTAFFED! I went into Guest Relations and made a HUGE scene over that one! But, I would love to see them rebuild the parking lot and not have preferred or other kinds of special parking. I think if they did it like Cedar Point and other parks, it would be fine. They don't need to charge an extra 5 bucks to park near the gate! I remember when that lot was FREE! I always got to the park early enough to park in the first row by the front gate!
