  1. Dude, you are lucky you are not in jail for this. Maybe the ride op was harsh, but maybe he wanted to drive the point home that you could've killed someone. I was with MarkR last year on Beast and someone was flicking their Bic and lit a cig. THAT could've killed us. I've seen kids taking pics on Adventure Express, too. Use common sense and ride safely! This is why I wear a fanny pack to keep my phone and camera safe!
  2. Oddly enough, the seats are not all the same. Some seats I get slammed into and others are a fine fit. Someone on here who I will not name, holds a record on the ride and had to get off for not fitting after 43 rides on it. In fact, it was seat 43 he didn't fit. So, some seats are tighter than others.
  3. I would rename Flight Deck to Either Silver Bullet or Thunder Comet.
  4. I have to peacefully disagree. I was there this past Friday, and the lines were very short. I was in line for DB, and it felt like I was standing there for a good ten minutes longer considering where I was standing at. It felt like the line had stopped completely. I couldn't believe Fast Lane passes were even being purchased on a day that all the rides were walk ons! I even got to ride WindSeeker two times in a row despite fast pass. All I can say is, it must be nice to have money to throw away like that! Because, if you bought one of those yesterday, that's what you did!
  5. They have the chain casing completely out. It's going to be down for awhile. I heard possibly it could re-open the first week of August, but that was through hear say. That's the soonest I would expect it to return.
  6. Dont waste your money on Backyard BBQ. It's a misleading advertisement. It's not really a BBQ. it doesn't even have hamburgers. It's steamed hot dogs, pulled pork, chicken fingers and some sides. Nothing is grilled. I ate there for July 4th in '10 and got an upset stomach. I don't recommend eating there. The Rivertown Junction is probably more worth your money. They have good food in there! I also recommend Outer Hanks and the Outer Hanks Backporch. Both are good value, as well.
  7. The comments that have been brought up about the old days, the more money you had, the more times you got to ride. No, it wasn't fair that someone who only had one quarter only got one ride on The Coney Island Cyclone, when someone who had $10 worth (If that was possible during the Great Depression) got to ride 40 times! Things are not the same today. Most parks, not all, but most have a pay one price admission. That is suppose to allow unlimited rides for that one price. I have been aggrevated a little with Kings Island since they put in Skyflyer, and Slingshot, and charge exhorbitent prices for them. Then they added Dinosaurs with the 3D film and made an upcharge for that. Those are minor points, and I really don't care, but I felt worth mentioning, because it's suppose to be a pay one price admission. With this new system, it's going to be a pay 2 price admission. It really is paying twice for one day. It's similar to gas prices. $3.60 a gallon is 3 times what gas really costs. Gas should only cost $1.50 at the most, so $3.60 is paying for 3 tanks, but only getting one. The same thing applies here for this fast pass. You are paying for 2 admissions, but only receiving ONE! I don't know who would actually do this, if they realize what they're doing. It's $54 to get in, and this thing is $50, so it's basically paying twice for one. That's what makes it really an unfair system. I don't want to hear the life is unfair scenario, because it doesn't apply here. Everyone should have the same chance to ride the rides once they get into the gates. I am not even in favor of the single riders line on Diamondback. The recourse I have on that is, most of the time, it's a longer line than the regular. The GP believes its an express line, and big groups go in thinking they are getting ahead, and it's funny when I pass them in the regular line. Still, everyone should really wait in the same line. I told GR way back in 2001, after visiting some of the parks who had these things, that it wouldn't be a good idea at KI and begged them to not do it. That was 10 years ago, and 10 years later, I am still against a fast pass. I didn't like it at Cedar Point, either. It never worked there. You ended up waiting 45 minutes for Dragster to get a handstamp, and 20 minutes to use it. So, I saw no benefit to it there. They finally realized it wasn't working and stopped it. Why have they not learned from past mistakes? Why are we repeating the same ones over again, only in bigger fashions? I just don't understand these people anymore!
  8. I'm sure this is no surprise to anyone. I'm against fast passes and always have been. It's wrong on many levels. Everyone should have to wait the same amount of time to ride the rides. It's a totally unfair system and another way to try and rip people off. All this is doing Is encouraging me to not buy ANYTHING in the park. If this at all interrupts my day at all, I will be writing Ouimet a long letter, even if he wasn't the one who put this in motion. We did get ERT back on Beast and DB doing that, after all. Maybe, we can get this taken back, too!
  9. I would remove The Crypt, and either install an indoor spinning mouse in that building, or tear down the whole building and put a Maverick like coaster in that spot.
  10. Scott Fowler is the author of the book, Lesourdsville Lake. He is going to be selling and signing that book in Monroe at the Historical Society at Elm and Main tomorrow, Saturday July 16th 10-2. I think the price is $20.
  11. All I can say is, Thank God for season passes! Hopefully, with all that extra revenue they'll be getting, they will earn enough to rebuild that parking lot. It sure needs it. It's a total mess out there. There's potholes big enough to swallow your car! It needs to be redesigned, but for sure, it needs to be totally repaved. I think it's only been repaved ONCE in its 40 year history! That I can remember anyway.
  12. http://www.aolnews.com/story/veteran-killed-at-theme-park-mixed-grit/1706226/ It almost just feels to me, based on this story today, 7-14-11, something just is not right here. I mentioned on Facebook, but it feels weird saying it. It sounds like it may have been planned. The story says the guy refused pamphlets telling them he knew the rules, and ignored the red letter signs that said, "Must have 2 legs to ride", rode in the front seat, and the family is NOT suing the park. That to me just really sounds like they knew what was going to happen. You just can't be that dumb, and NOT know that he was not safe by riding in his condition. He had ridden it before, when he was younger. So, he knew of the ejector air it gives. I'm sure he was smart enough to know what would happen if he rode it, without a lap at all. I mean, the guy was a young man, had served in war and lost his limbs. There's a chance he may have been suffering from PTSS. Maybe depressed about his situation and what he may have saw in war. Maybe, he decided he was going to do something he loved, and if it cost him his life, so be it. And, maybe he told his family that was how it was. It's just a theory, based on what this article is saying. Not saying, it IS what happened, just saying what it sounds like could have been the situation. The only thing about it, that really bothers me is, why the ride ops allowed it. They really should have put up a fight, and called security and demanded he not ride. Most parks, like at Kings Island and Cedar Point, I know they will not dispatch a ride if any of the ride ops feel someone is not safe. I saw awhile back on Diamondback, a kid had removed his shoes after he was checked, and the ride op saw it, and the dispatch was interrupted immediately! That's what doesn't seem right here. The ride ops should have known he was not in compliance, and if they did know, and allowed it, something is not right there, either. Not trying to sound like or be a conspiracist here, but this whole thing just seems like it was really no accident.
  13. I almost fell off the Georgia Cyclone back in May. I was toward the back by myself and got ejected enough to almost switch seats in mid ride. I honestly think if it hadn't been for the seatbelt, I would have become the next Tamara Feltner.
  14. That's awesome! Great memories of the good old days!
  15. My problem with it is, I can't take the forces on my knees. I have to get an end spot and hang my foot over the side, which is improper, but if I don't, I will be in pain and have to sit down for awhile. Also, a few places bang my head. It's definitely my least favorite coaster at Cedar Point.
  16. Talk about going from the frying pan into the fryer! I'm not a huge fan of Vortex, but it's way better than Mantis! I do ride Vortex at least every 3rd visit to KI, but Mantis I think I ride that every 3rd YEAR! It hurts me way more. And besides, Vortex is Ron Toomer's best looper!
  17. And that is unfortunate. When Hades opened in 2005, it was one of the smoothest airtime machines out there! It was great! I went back 4 years later and I didn't even recognize it. It was not the same coaster it was when it opened.
  18. I wouldn't necessarily call what's in there kiddie stuff. There's some pretty scary moments in there for smaller children. But, I do agree some previous attractions were better. I for one miss very badly the original Enchanted Voyage! That was by far the best ride ever in that place. It was replaced by Smurfs, which was an absolute INSULT! I wouldn't have minded if they would have put the smurfs in there, but just in one section and left the other HB characters, too. NOT do a full Smurf ride. Phantom Theater was also great. The only complaint I had with the Scooby stuff, is way too much cardboard cut outs. Phantom Theater was entirely a full life size character animated attraction. Then most of Scooby was just painted stuff. Boo Blasters encompassed a lot of the painted stuff, but also added other life size characters, as well, and some nice special 3D effects. Boo Blasters is a nice ride, and I enjoy trying to get the highest possible scores, but deep in my heart, I do miss Enchanted Voyage I a lot!
  19. It looks to me like the 3rd train didn't actually make it all the way into the station. Part of it is sticking out. So, I guess the ones that didn't get all the way back into the station were also evacted. I would have loved to have been on the train that got stopped in the mid-course block and got to walk down the steps! I've been stopped there maybe 3 or 4 times in the 24 year history of that ride, but never long enough to get to walk down!
  20. I agree, the smoking is the one they really fail at enforcing. They will say something in lines, if they catch it. I rarely see anything said to those walking around with a lit cig in their hands or mouth. I've had to say something myself, and that's NOT my job as a guest!
  21. The only time Planet Snoopy closes early is Saturday nights during Haunt. It closes at 7 usually, in efforts to not encourage younger kids to attend Haunt. The Fridays of Haunt, it doesn't open at all. The rest of the season, it's open till the park closes.
  22. Like I said in a previous post, I love WindSeeker, but glad ERT is DB and Beast. You can only get at best 1 or 2 rides on WS during ERT, if it opens at all, but DB you can get 4 or 5 on in the same amount of time. I don't mind the WS line anyway, never waited more than 30 min, and I like the different sound tracks on it!
  23. The turn into the brake shed is getting really rough. This is an area that will need attention in the next off season. Also, try to avoid train 3, if possible. That's the one I call Old Square Wheels. It seems to be the one that shimies and shakes somewhat more than the other 2. Of course, ALWAYS avoid riding wheel seats on PTC wood coaster trains at CF parks. Maybe others, but nit at Holiday World. The PTC trains there can be ridden in any seat. Not sure what they're doing that CF is not on the PTCs. Terpy, do you know?
  24. Just in case you missed my posts, Eric, I've never boycotted WindSeeker. I happen to love that ride! I could ride it forever, but Id have to figure out how to divide my time with DB, Voyage and Raptor. Plus, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and you don't have to make unnecessary rude comments if someone happens to not feel the same. Enough of that, but I do love WindSeeker, but am glad to see the ERT back to DB and Beast!
