  1. 1. They've been laying on concrete, anything can happen 2. They've surely been dinged at times by the forklifts 3. More than likely some paint has chipped off since the ride was last painted And Finally, the crew was using what looks like Bondo in some of the pictures, So I believe Bondo or a relative to it was used to smooth out areas on the supports and track where plenty of wear has occured.
  2. I have always liked the Universal parks but I love Disney parks! With that being said, Disney World's parks are all separated into very specific lands, the lands transition well but remain completely identifiable from each other. Also, Disney incorporates a great variety of rides, in each land you tend not to find any two rides that are somewhat alike, other than 4-d shows! This brings me to the downfalls of Universal Studios. The individual lands are not separated well...you have New York, San Francisco/Amityville, Production Central, Hollywood, World Expo and Kidzone. Now anyone who would like to debate can look at this link to the park map: http://www.universalorlando.com/usf_map.html All of the lands look the same, except for the amityville/SF bay themed buildings. Other than that, Universal looks like it is a bunch of buildings not rides! Also, Back to the Future, ET, Twister and Earthquake are quickly escaping modern culture. being 18, I remember the last back to the future, and watching ET when I was 5 or so (taped versions) Back to the Future is really outdated and Et is getting there, I personally love all of the rides but, I am an enthusiast I understand the value and nostalgia of all rides, like many of you! Twister was awesome in the Fall, I was finally in the front row and you get so wet and the noise is so loud it was awesome! Another thing, does anyone want to tell me what the hell Mummy is doing in an area themed "New York"....It would do great in the Morrocan area at Busch Gardens or the Egyptian area right next to Montu! Rather than comparing the studio park to Magic Kingdom we will compare apples to apples and look at MGM! Here is the map: http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wd.../toolbarMap.gif MGM just looks more pleasing, simple as that. Now if we get into specific rides, obviously both parks need some updates, MGM needs star tours no longer just as Universal no longer needs back to the Future. There are many others..you can draw your own conclusions, also remember at every ride Universal informs you that they are the 2nd happiest place on earth! Another sign of Universal trying to make a quick buck....US has this new offer! Unlimited Admission to Both Parks Now, you can get unlimited admission for up to a week to both Universal Studios AND Islands of Adventure theme parks for only $85.99 plus tax. That's less than the price of a Walt Disney World® 1-Day Park Hopper® Ticket!
  3. I wouldn't be so sure of that.... Thanks So, Im guessing that you are supposed to know what they are used for? lol
  4. The fact that they have sections of the track already primed and painted!
  5. It is more than likely rust proofing primer...they said they would paint the ride once assembled, and that is what they will do!
  6. HAHA, it does make for a good theory of Geauga Lake! But Like SOB_Tom stated and what I stated before...it is known in most renovation/construction circles that bulidings do indeed begin to die after a few short years of abandonment. If I am not mistaken CoastersRZ is our resident architect, im sure he has heard this before? -If not, Im truly shocked!
  7. those are some neat photographs! I wonder how structurally sound that house is anymore, they say that when buildings cease to be lived in they literally begin to die.
  8. Ok, so weve established they are coming here, The Racer seems the only logical choice for me. I dont see those trains fitting anywhere else in Kings Island....unless we are getting another coaster. Time to start the Rumor Mill!
  9. 200 and some feet up everything is gonna look tiny!
  10. Ronny, I like using Coke in a can to scrub toilets! It also works great on tire rims! lol Coke is awful as well as Vault!
  11. Did you really just say that The Beast is smooth as glass? It has its moments, but it is regarded as great ride that is unforgiving to some who ride it!
  12. WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?? I CANT STAND READING ALL OF THIS CAPS LOCK MUMBO! it hurts my eyes! What is the possibility of trying the hurricane trains on Racer or Beast? I highly doubt it, but thought I would propose that question.
  13. Which is somewhat like what I was saying....as of now, they can't compete!
  14. They need to worry about the financial problems that they have now before they start playing in Disney's backyard, and splashing around in Universal's pool!
  15. If the picture was taken in New Orleans..than they cant be banned! They didnt wear that into Disney Land they basically used it as an interesting headline. Unless you are in the Beer Garden in World Showcase you wont have a beer, I dont think. Also, she wouldnt have made it past the front gate....and she would have been asked to change before she was just banned!
  16. Oh please...Ive just decided that Im going to go into the woods one day and coax one of them out...here ghosty ghosty ghosty! lol
  17. speaking of the animal barns...why didnt they tear those down? That area looks so overgrown!
  18. I want to know where the cemetary is in Kings Island. When the land was purchased, there was a cemetary somewhere and a fence was put up around the area. I have looked all over using various arial shots, and I dont see it anywhere, does someone know exactly where it is at? Note: NVM I just found it!
  19. So they didnt really get banned from Disney Land....they were just using that as a catchy headline right? lol Even if they were to have worn that into the park or something, I think its creative HAHA
  20. I couldn't agree more! When I drink pop, I do the Dew!
  21. Hey...dont diss the ride that I'm working at!!! Im jk, I have to agree, it upset the parks synergy. Took away from the tranquility nearly completely!
  22. And, If they dont I highly suggest that they visit the ride, "Spaceship Earth" at EPCOT, it really provides a great pictoral on the advances of communicationa and communication technologies! Just dont visit the ride when they have let the number of handi-capped riders exceed the number they are supposed to have on reserve. We went this past fall and there were 50 handi-capped people just being briefed in the one room as you exit which is their entrance. I swear the ride stopped every three minutes for 4 minutes just to let the people on, and then to take some of them out. It really takes away from the ride!
  23. Steve, the Crane is gone from the webcam now, must have been temporary!
  24. I must reiterate Karen and Ryan's comments. PLEASE do not go exploring the Peters Cartridge company. Not only is it dangerous to explore a place that is falling into the river already, but It also is against the law. On an extremely sad note, I do not know for sure that Peters Cartridge is haunted but of the 5 people that I was aquainted with through a neighbor, 4 went in one night to explore...two nights later two of the group members died in a car wreck, about a week after the exploration another member passed away from heart failure...the fourth person broke his left arm and leg, when he fell out of a tree a short time after as well. Concrete evidence that it is haunted? I can not say for sure...after all the other two people I know who stayed just around the premises but did not enter, are fine and dandy...the one was my next door neighbor until this year. Whether you believe in pure coincidence or hauntings (I prefer the first) dont enter the building, it isnt worth it in any case!
  25. I dunno I can! I agree with Interpreter, I consider myself an enthusiast, and I love riding Hall of Fame coasters just as much as anyone, however I simply love well designed coasters, and whether they are clones or not, they just need to be fun! I would personally love to have an exact replica of Kumba or Montu here at KI!
