But this website is the newsletter...it just happens to have a permanent link, doesnt need to be accessed by mail, and allows us to communicate with each other. If there is a newsletter I will sign up to get it, I just think if its that worth reading than it should be on here. Now if the newsletter was in supplement of the site but not neccesarily breaking news I would be for it completely!

Well they have spent all the money this year allotted to SoB . And remember that isnt even Cedar Fair's largest expense, If I can remember right, they just spent 1.24 BILLION dollars that wasnt really theres to buy the PP's. So although they have money alotted each year for park upgrades and rides, I dont see that figure going to far over the 84 Million dollars CF had earmarked for capital improvements this year. I would just like to see something like Maverick, that would be good to me, it doesnt need to break records. And again, you all know by now...I want a Splash Mountain or something like it, haha!

Well, having been recently hired, and seeing some of the things that Cedar Fair Employees are supposed to do at the parks, I am a little shocked at the problems that you encountered! I think that most of the Paramount leftovers that you saw will be devoid at Kings Island and the shows will all be running. Reason being, we open a month later, and Memorial Day weekend two months later than carowinds is. Thats quite a bit of time to make transitions. Although I am sure that much of the Paramount's branding will be left over, Park operations and shop conversion as well as those other miscelaneouses should be taken care of. Given what was discussed with employees atleast during my training session, I have to believe that KI's experience will be quite a bit more polished come opening day!

Maureen said that the word on the street was "g-trains" but then she proceded to say "yes they're Gerstlauers, they're Gerstlauers!" She also said something to the effect of, "Thats what were going with at this point".

I happen to be one of those people, I can darn near get out of the harness, especially when it moves up a few clicks instead of down! So I for one dont mind the harness belt, realistically I like the idea of more safety, so I am all for something else that makes completely sure that a restraint wont fly open! As for seatbelts, Beast has them I believe, and I really dont mind those so...As long as it adds extra safety!

What are the chances that they decide to staff "Asylum" and make it somewhat of a haunted house dark ride open during the regular season? I think it would be a good idea! She mentioned a permanent entrace so it would seem to line up, and althought there wil be a fence there, if it was open in a spot Asylum is already a part of the intended area.

Well, we got our picture taken but no ID's yet! You need to have your temporary ID for General knowledge andf other courses, they basically gave us a 2 inch tall by 9 inch wide piece of paper with some info on it. We will get our Full ID during regular training...is what we were told!

Are you guys talking about that bigger woman, who was all over the different religious rituals of the other famliy? If you are than yah, she was hilarious! I truly don't like Fox's version however, they really try to make the families clash, in the episodes Ive seen. The ABC version seems less Jerry Springer and more Maury, or Sally, haha

I was at the park today with Steve to get our ID's and well, all Im saying is they started to move some flatbeds out of the parking lot with track on them.

The station would look pretty themed if it was a control tower! There are lots of good ideas here, and I like the idea of a combat zone, but like interpreter Id be happy just to see some grass and trees, not that darn gravel!

I agree with Reclaimer, April and May are good times to go. The earlier in the season you make it to the park the more likely rides arent to need parts replaced like they do in the middle of the season typically. If Cedar Point can change one thing it would be the downtime that rides at KI have had in the past under Paramount. But typically at the start of the season the rides have that "new" feeling to them!

Yes, I posted that, however I did disclaim that I do not know for sure. It is something I was told that could be true or could not be true about the Flying Dutchmen in particular, by an engineer whom I know. If there was to be one, I would say that it would clamp on the inside of the rail or push against it to create friction, probably in the vacinity of where the guide wheels are. It is also possible that some sort of mechanism is on the trains to lock up the wheels (this would depend on them being on free moving ball bearings or on 'axles' if you will). If they are axled wheels which I believe they are, this is much more plausible, however they could be a ball bearing-cuplet type assembly which would make this very implausible. Also, from the info gathered from various articles and the known layout of the ride, I and others have come to the assumpitve conclusion that the riders were upside down for no more than 15 seconds and then the ride either stopped because of a safety feature, or slowed down before the loop. In all the articles I have read nothing was ever mentioned about a rollback in the loop, just a pure stop before it. With a computer physically being on board the train, and the ability to push a button in the station that unlocks the lie-fly mechanism. I would venture to say that CPU isnt just for physics monitoring but an innovative control system as well. Saying that, I have to believe it is possible that many other "safety" mechanisms and failsafes on the trains are in fact linked to this computer. But there could not be, I am not sure!

Why thank you! I happen to like my plan as well, aside from my mentioning the midwest as being monopolized, I meant dominating the market! Yes your right, Blackstone is a huge competitor. I did mention Universal Orlando which is a direct theme park competitor, and the companies equity investment for joint control of SixFlags! However you are right that I neglected to include LEGOLAND, and all of the European Parks, Legoland is a competitor here nationally, but worldwide was my last point so I just did not feel that I needed to include the European parks or other world wide interests as I was more focused on the National Amusment Park leader title. As for becoming the largest "visitor attraction" company in the world, I should have included all of these parks plus the other investments below, to which I did not list! I realize I did not inlude Madam Tussauds as that is a visitor attracton, much like a zoo if you will, or a Ripley's. If Cedar Fair were to get into these other Visitor attractions, than yes this would be a concern as well and would have to be looked into as another arena for CF! Also you could contend that Blackstone's holding of AMF bowling centers or Cineworld movie plexes are competition, but as far as amusement parks which is Cedar Fair's interest at this time they arent as much competitors as attendence detractors on rainy days and late nights..which during these periods people arent coming to the park anyways, so there is no real loss just a potential untapped market! Other than lodging which when used is to the benefit of some Cedar Fair Parks anyways, those are the only real competitive markets to Cedar Fair, of which dont satisfy the "theme park experience" that CF, SF, WD, US, AB, LEGO(now Merlin), HFE (Herschend Family Entertainment), Hershey, and other independents provide! In regards to the MSA's growing, one possibility is that with a revitalization of Ohio and Ohio jobs under Strickland, Ohio's population could start to reverse fortune and increase. This in turn would create more local and national business and tourism flow....somehow New York City is completely metropolized and it is a regional vacation destination for some! Not only could this happen but eventually, a greater population would mean more business for KI anyways. I personally would say that that is a given, it isnt that hard to remove a sign...or they could alter the sign to include both attractions!
