Lol, I made a NoLimits coaster called Diamondback just a few days ago. It's basically a bigger, taller, longer version of Maverick with more inversions and is buried in the woods. I'd post it for everyone to see if I knew how. So..... how?
-
Delirium is amazing, and is WAY bigger than any "stupid fair ride." By the way the spin is very slow. I would not call it a "spinny ride." On a different note, Vortex is one of the great rides that defines Kings Island. Even if they replaced it with a B&M mega-looper, I would be upset to see it go. And they need to take the building off of Tomb Raider and give it a more intense ride program.

Yep. Glad to meet ya....rode Beast with ya opening day...... Wow...

why can't Indy have its own amusement park?
Raptor66 replied to Cormaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Holiday World, Indiana Beach, You have some amusement parks. -
An hour for The Beast? Thats pretty long. I've never waited longer than 15 minutes for The Beast this season.

Grrrrr! I'm going away for two weeks July 5. I might miss the opening. I'll try and go on the fourth, if it's open, if only to ride Sonny.

^Go to the pool and practice. Seriously. Just like riding a bike or driving a car, it takes practice. Anyway, my least favorite ride would have to be Days of Thunder. That is the most boring layout of a go-cart track ever. That is where they should have put IJ:ST. We could still have the antique cars and Flying Eagles, yet still have IJ:ST. (I actually like Italian Job, I just don't agree with its placement in the park, and the effects are obnoxious.)

Lol I only have 2. Firehawk and Maverick. I should buy them more often.
-
^lol, so true. They should put up a sign, saying, "Testing In Progress." Wasn't Firehawk tested while the park was open?
-
She won't be able to ride in the moving seats, but you could sit with her in the front row, which is just a long, stationary bench. (I believe you can, anyways)
-
It's not REALLY stalled on the rose bowl, is it? Not good, if it is.
-
20 minute wait for Firehawk? Niiiiiiice..... I got off work around 3:30. I should've stayed and rode rides for a few hours.

How different is SlingShot from say, Power Tower on the side that launches you up? I guess it's more intense because it is much different. After riding TTD last Tuesday I feel like I can ride any ride without hesitation, except for Drop Zone and especially SlingShot.

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
Raptor66 replied to joecoaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Are drop zone's brakes permanent magnets or electromagnets? If they are electromagnets, a loss of power to the breaks will render them useless. -
Really? I didn't see any cameras on the front row. There was a metal bar that came around in front of and above the riders but nothing attached to them. In the video booth, the screen which I assumed was for the front car said something like "Videos not available for this car at this time" or something like that. Oh yeah, I sat in the very back row on Maverick.

Well I decided to have my dad drive my two friends, Kevin and Ben, and me, Travis, to Cedar Point for my birthday. My birthday was really June 6, but so, what, I got to go to Cedar Point! This would be my second trip to CP, but it was my friend's and my dad's first trip. Well our group started the drive at 6:30 Monday morning. Of course we had to keep busy on the trip, so we brought along a small TV, a DVD player, and my Nintendo Wii. It is really awkward to use those remotes in the car with three teen boys in the back seat! Oh, well. After watching "The Messengers" and playing Mario Party 8 and Excite Truck, we finally arrived at Cedar Point. We got their around 10:30. First thing we do is we head to Raptor, only to see very long lines, so we decided to pass it by for the time being. We then headed to Corkscrew for a short wait. It was fun for being over 30 years old, but nothing to what we would ride later. After that we rode Mantis. I am aware that many people on this site do not like stand-ups, but this ride is one of my favorite coasters. The wait was only about half an hour, even though the line looked long. After this ride we were all hungry so we decided to eat at Chick-Fil-A. My friends and I then decided to ride Skyhawk, while my dad "digested." Skyhawk was pretty thrilling, and looking straight down at the top of the swing is very freaky! It had a short wait too. We decided to pass by Maverick because of the uber-long line and headed to Mean Streak which turned out to be a walk-on. Wow, I didn't remember it being so rough last time I was at Cedar Point. This ride doesn't compare to The Beast. Next we rode Gemini. Ben decided to sit out because he said he had a bad headache from Mean Streak. He missed out. Gemini was smooth as glass. Also our train, the blue one, won! After that we headed over to Magnum, but decided to ride Witch's Wheel first. I was surprised at the lack of restraints. Still a fun ride. Afterwards we waited about half an hour for Magnum XL 200. Awesome ride as ever, with lots of air time. We then headed over to Millennium force. The wait was about an hour for this ride. When we finally got on, my heart was pounding. Since last September, the tallest/fastest coaster I've ridden was Magnum. I was surprised at how open the cars are. The view from this ride is great, but before I knew it were at the top of the first hill, plummeting at 92 mph almost straight down. Wow. This ride was an instant favorite. It is truly amazing. I couldn't stop laughing after getting off. ext we decided to have a quick smoothie break, which were more like cups of fruity ice cream than smoothies, but still good. Afterwards we rode Iron Dragon. This Arrow suspended wasn’t nearly as fun as Top Gun, but a bunch longer, as it had two lift hills. Afterwards we decided to cool of on Disaster Transport. the line was surprisingly long. We waited about 20 minutes to get on. I always thought this was one of the least popular coasters in the park, but I guess I was wrong. After that ride we decided to ride the giant wheel. You get a great view of the park from up their, but I noticed the ride I wanted to ride next, Wicked Twister, was closed. Fortunately, It re-opened right when we got off the wheel. We managed to beat the crowds heading to Wicked Twister and only waited 3 or 4 cycles before getting on. Ben sat this one out, again. The ride op got really annoying, though. After every ride she would ask, “Welcome back, riders, how was your ride?” After the riders cheered she would say “Wicked!” That was annoying. The ride itself was not that intense, but really freaky. Kevin and I sat in the very back seat. At the top of the back spiral we would stare down through a spiral of cars. The pause at the top felt like forever. After that fun ride we rode Chaos. My dad sat this one out. Pretty fun ride. Really disorienting. After that we had a walk on ride on Blue Streak. My dad lost his Blackberry on the last ride of the day. How unlucky for him… After this, we left for our hotel, a Red Roof Inn about 5 miles from Cedar Point. We ordered pizza, (don’t remember from where,) and swam in their indoor pool, which was tiny. The next morning we ate and checked out of the hotel and left for Cedar Point. It was raining, but it stopped right as we parked. My dad, was lucky enough to find his Blackberry at the lost and found. All the thrill rides were still closed because of the weather, so we rode the CP& LE Railroad. The theming was entertaining, with the animatronics skeletons in western scenes. After we got off at the station by Iron Dragon, we got in line for Millennium Force. Today the wait was only about 30 minutes. After this ride, we rode Iron Dragon again. Then we headed over to Top Thrill Dragster, only to see that it was closed for mechanical problems. We decided to ride Power Tower. We rode the red side, the side that launches you upwards. This side was a walk on. The blue/green side, which launches you downwards, had a decent line. I didn’t know what to expect on this ride. I was really nervous, there was no indication when you were going to be launched. When it did I was really surprised because it wasn’t very intense at all. It was a fun ride. After this it started pouring rain. We hid under a vendor’s umbrella. After the rain slowed down, we headed to Coasters for lunch and to wait out the rain. After the rain stopped, we headed over to Magnum to see if it was open. It wasn’t. We saw that Witch’s Wheel was open so we rode that. Afterwards we headed to Maverick. It was still closed, too, but we waited in the short line outside of the queue line. About an hour later, the ride finally opened, and there was a few hundred people behind us. After it opened, we were only on line for about 20 minutes, if that. Maverick is a real people eater. This ride is AWESOME!!!! Hands down best ride ever! To all those who think Maverick looks tame, it’s more intense than Millennium Force. The 100’ 95 degree drop is more intense than Dragster’s 400’ 90 degree drop. I sat in the back seat. At the top of the first drop you feel some serious ejector air, and are immediately pushed back into your seat at the bottom of the drop. This ride is non-stop intensity from start to finish, only pausing just before the 70 mph launch. Wow. Go to Cedar Point and ride Maverick, no matter how long he wait is. It is the best. After Maverick, we rode Magnum one more time. Then we finally managed to get in line for Top Thrill Dragster. Ben sat this one out, so I made him hold my Maverick on-ride photo and T-shirt. The wait was about 30-40 minutes. Once we got on, my heart really started racing. Kevin, who was sitting next to me, didn’t realize that two trains were released from the station at once. He though we were supposed to launch when another train launched ahead of us. Finally it was our turn. After the intense launch, it was a matter of seconds before the ride was over. This ride was over quickly, but was very intense. You don't get a chance to appreciate how high you are, because you are only at the top of the hill for a second or two. After Dragster, we waited about 15-20 minutes for Raptor. We found the new on ride cameras entertaining. We were making funny faces during the ride and pretending that we were asleep. Word of warning. The front seat does not have the cameras yet, so if you want to see your video, don't ride there. Anyways this was a great close to our visit. After riding Raptor we left to go back to Cincy. We watched "Stranger than Fiction" on the way back. I can't wait to go back with my marching band this September. My only regret from this trip: we didn't ride Demon Drop.

Cedar Point Question
Raptor66 replied to bparrott03's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I'm leaving tomorrow at 6:30 AM with my friends and dad for Cedar Point. We will be at the park on Monday and Tuesday. I doubt Tuesday will be crowded at all. Thunderstorms are in the forecast. Good thing they don't last very long, and the park hopefully shouldn't be crowded. Who knows what tomorrow will be like. I really want a repeat of my marching band trip last September. Almost everything was a walk on or had REALLY short waits. -
Daytime: 1. Firehawk 2. Flight of Fear 3. Vortex 4. The Beast 5. Delirium Nighttime: 1. Firehawk 2. The Beast 3. Vortex 4. Flight of Fear 5. Delirium

Top Gun is in no need to be torn down. If memory serves me correctly as well, the area it's in isn't the ideal place to build something new. Top Gun still draws crowds, and still pleases riders. It's a great ride for kids who aren't quite ready for something larger. It is still a very important ride to the park. What riders are still pleased by Top Gun? Not me get rid of Top Gun Build a new 500ft coaster in it's place I love top gun. Never get rid of it.

Cedar Point 2007 Video
Raptor66 replied to UncleHenry's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yeah, I'm so pumped now! I'm going up to Cedar Point Monday and Tuesday with some friends. Can't wait to ride Maverick! -
Urg. Just got back from KI. Had a great time and all like I usually do, but it really ticked me off when some smart-ass teenager, (and I'm a teenager myself) thought it would be fun to grope me from the seat behind me nearly the entire duration of The Beast. Perfectly good ride spoiled because of him. People like him REALLY but me in a bad mood!

That little incident about having to push the train into the station happened to me once, also on Flight of Fear. The train didn't make it all the way into the station and the ride ops had to push it in. Everyone clapped afterwards.

I hate it when people refuse to use punctuation. That was painful to read.

Top Gun is fun. Short and sweet. If they did anything to it they should get Vekoma to lengthen it. take out the turn at the top of the lift hill and make a new drop leading into the expansion. Then there should be a second lift hill leading into the old first drop. This should definitely increase ridership. Many other Arrow suspendeds have two lift hills. They could even replace the trains with Vekoma's floorless suspended swinging trains.
