Wow, this is for sure my most anticipated ride of 2011. Depending on when the ride will open, I might be planning a trip back to BGA during spring break! Some of the turns seemed kinda opposite banked, it almost reminds of a steel Voyage!

SFStL Announcement Thursday
DropZone99 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I hope it's a coaster. The phrase 'towering new attraction' kinda makes it seem like it's not going to be a coaster though. They already have a Drop Tower and sky coaster, so theres not a whole lot of other things it could be. I hope the temporary star-flyer rumor isn't true! -
I haven't been to KI in a long while, and haven't even ridden a coaster in over a month! I plan on going this weekend and maybe to Stricker's too.
-
I agree. A GCI woodie would of only cost about another million or two and would be so much better for everyone. A GCI would be marketed as a family ride but at the same time enthusiasts would love it. WindSeeker's actual ride experience is a family ride but being so high is marketed as a thrill ride even though it's not going to be too thrilling (unless your that afraid of heights).

I want to say I'm shocked that KI, CW, KBF, and CP are all getting the same ride with the same name with the same statistics but I'm not. I am disappointed though. I wasn't expecting a coaster, in fact I was expecting it to be exactly how it turned out, the difference is I was expecting atleast one CF park to receive a coaster for next year. Why is Cedar Fair adding the exact same 4 rides at parks that honestly don't need them as much as other parks? In my opinion these should have been given to Worlds of Fun, Valley Fair, Michigans Adventure, and CGA (well actually they all-except WoF needs a new coaster). CP, KI, KBF, and CW don't even need these. Well Knotts, CW, and KI would of been fine but CP should of gotten something better. Just my opinion and I know alot of people will disagree and fit, but thats what I have to say. And lastly, yes I am excited but not so excited I'll be watching the webcam (if they even get one for it) everyday and checking up. I just hope maybe Holiday World or another near by park gets some better for 11'.

Agreed. Star Flyers/Wind Seekers don't seem thrilling at all, it's just Zephyr 300'+ in the air and faster, but since the size of the 'ring' is wider, the faster speed won't seem as fast (kinda hard to explain but this all makes sense in my head). The only forces you will feel is lateral (barley). Of course the height adds to the thrill but if your not going to drop at a high speed than thats not too thrilling. Honestly, the idea of a Star Flyer/Wind Seeker doesn't make sense. The height attracts thrill seekers but since the ride doesn't do much but spin you in a circle in the air it's not even that thrilling or intense. Since it has low intensity/thrill than it's great for families except for the fact that it's so tall it'll scare away smaller children. So who exactly is this ride for...?
-
If this really is going to be 415' tall than I'm impressed! That may actually be thrilling, If it is that tall than I really hope the structure will have a great color choice, and amazing lights for night! I also wander if there will be an animation for the announcement tomorrow.

Just now getting on KICentral because I was in class when I got the text. Wow, this came out of no where! I'm almost sure it'll be a Starflyer (or whatever the other one was called). I'm excited, but if is one of those you won't see me riding it much, I can't ride rides like Zephyr because they get me sick.
-
I put my hands up on pretty much every ride, the only one I don't is Top Gun and Vortex because it's kinda hard with it's restraints.

If you could only stay in one section of KI for the day.
DropZone99 replied to BeastForever's topic in KI Polls
Coney Mall, has the most. 1. Son of Beast 2. Drop Zone 3. Diamondback -
They aren't strict about it though, last time I went to Boomerang Bay I wore regular shorts (with pockets, belt buckle, zippers, buttons, ect..) and they let me on every slide.
-
I'm sorry, It's been a while since I've been to KI (like mid' July?), tell me about this new Flight Deck announcement, and FoF's flight flicker, and Adventure Express's water drip.
-
Afterburn just seemed to not flow together good enough, by that I mean rates of speed. Some elements were taken too fast (corkscrew), some too slow (the airtime hill), plus in my opinion it's the roughest (but still pretty smooth) B&M invert.
-
Agreed, I'll follow the teasers CP posts on facebook, but I won't let myself get excited and post on KIC or any other forum about it until after the announcement.
-
I do like Afterburn alot, but I was expecting much better. I rate Montu and Patriot above it. And I'm so glad you love Shivering Timbers! It is probably one of the most under-rated coasters ever...

STEEL: 1. Intimidator 305 (KD) 2. Maverick (CP) 3. Intimidator (Carowinds) 4. Patriot (WoF) 5. Millennium Force (CP) WOOD: 1. Voyage (HW) 2. Shivering Timbers (MA) 3. Cornball Express (IB) 4. Raven (HW) 5. Evel Knievel (SFSTL)

Gravity Group > GCI I've ridden... Voyage Boardwalk Bullet Evel Knievel Prowler Thunderhead Gwazi Both TGG woodies are extremely intense and filled with airtime, somewhat rough, but crazy intense. The 4 GCIs I've ridden are for the most part (excluding Gwazi) extremely smooth, most don't have much airtime (EK has alot though), and not too intense. Overall I prefer to be thrown out of my seat even if that means it'll give me a headache or some other pain.

I haven't gone to the Indiana State Fair this year yet (going this weekend), is it better than last year? Last year there wasn't too many major rides. Great PTR Dave, from the looks of it, the Ohio State Fair could be it's own amusement park! \

OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
DropZone99 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^I've been on Facebook too much, I was looking for the like button to like what you just said! -
I agree with everything you said. I do like Diamondback, but If it was up to me, it would ever never been built. Rivertown was the part of the park where you would escape the loud noises and crowds. Yes there still is Beast, Tomb Raider, WWC, ect... But think about it. Beast can hardly be seen from the midway and the entrance to it has it's own secluded midway. The only time you can hear Beast is if your in line for it you'll hear it leave the station. Tomb Raider although didn't match the theme of an Ohio Valley mining town, it was hidden pretty well. Tons of foliage around the entrance, and a cave, both are things that blend in with the area. Yes the tan box could be seen, but not nearly as much as it can be seen today since Diamondback removed alot of trees. White Water Canyon is like a mile away from the midway (YES I am exaggerating, so don't complain and give me some exact number of feet of how far away it is), so it can't be seen, and even if it was- it fits the theme. Now there is Diamondback. A HUGE red steel coaster with bright yellow supports (the lift hill), it can be seen from anywhere in the park, especially Rivertown. If your by La Rosas, you see the helix and splashdown, and you hear screams from the first drop and the helix/splash down. If your by Crypt than you see a mammoth 215' drop and here screams and that sound that Diamondback makes (sounds like the track is like scraping against other pieces of track). If your by Diamondback's station, it's now all concrete (well brick or whatever it is), and everything is related to Diamondback. It used to be one of the most hidden places in the park full of a few shops and tall trees, now it's probably the most popular spot in the entire park. Overall, I do love Diamondback but it ruined Rivertown. Of course Paramount did a few bad things, but Cedar Fair bought the park knowing how mad enthusiasts were about doing those things, so why would Cedar Fair do something Paramount would do? The only difference is it's not a themed ride and most enthusiasts aren't upset about it because it's some huge steel coaster. I know if Paramount still owned the park and they tour down Swan Lake and ruined the peaceful atmosphere that Rivertown once had for some mega coaster, you'd be mad.

Which park would you rather have as your hometown amusment park?
DropZone99 replied to BeastForever's topic in Kings Island
Well if I had to chose any park (that I've been to) I'd chose Kings Dominion. But out of KI & CP, I'd say Cedar Point, Variety (quantity & quality). -
The awesome Arrow mega looper at SFGA is being removed for Chang. The flying coaster went into what was parking lot. And Chang was surrounded (?) by good and one great coasters. Thunder Run was one of the best wooden coasters in the country. Twisted Sisters, when new, was incredible...so much so that I visited that park 33 times that year and rode them nearly exclusively each time... And you don't like Firehawk because it feels like you may fall out? How odd...that's one of many reasons I love it. SFGA = Six Flags Great America, not Six Flags Great Adventure I was referring to "shockwave", which was torn down in 2002 to make room for Superman: Ultimate Flight, though yes Great Adventure has one too.... Internally at Six Flags, SFGA is always, always, always Six Flags Great Adventure. To enthusiasts, it's SFGAd, SFGAm and SFOG. SFGA has often been confused for Six Flags Great America or even Six Flags Over Georgia (Six Flags, GA=Georgia). You may be the only person I have ever heard refer to Shockwave as an "an awesome Arrow mega looper." More like awful, I'd say. I got hurt on that thing, not once but twice. Always in the front car, always on the stupid hole in the front nose cone on the front car. That coaster was rough, and was leaving the park regardless. It had reached the end of its service life. At first it was announced that Whizzer was leaving, but after enough hoopla by the public, the park 'relented' to what was almost certainly its original planning, removing Shockwave. And, as others have pointed out, it was Vekoma that originated the concept of the Flying Coaster. B and M did what it often does, and perfected the concept...with Tatsu and then Montu. As for me, at least, I much prefer the original three Vekoma Flying Dutchmen to the Superman B&M flyers...By the way, those Supermen B&M flyers have often been down for maintenance as well...the one at Six Flags Great Adventure is down even as I write this, as it has been for some time. EDIT: Twenty minutes after this was written, Superman: Ultimate Flight at SFGAd re-opened. I agree with what you said about B&M/Vekoma flyers. The B&M flyers (the two I've ridden) generally have a boring layout, and when your at the brake run it's torture having to face down in that position! Vekoma flyers (well the two I've ridden)have much more exciting fast paced layouts with great forces and are much more comfortable! And by the way, since when is Montu a B&M flyer..?
