  1. Actually that was the line for Maze Of Madness...many people got in line thinking it was for Psycho Path - heck, many people didn't know what they were getting in line for... Yeah, I know what you mean...I did ask someone what the line was for and they told me it was Psycho Path...and I didn't bother tracing it to where it actually led. The best line I overheard that night was someone walking by asked a guy in the Massacre Manor line what the attraction he was standing in line for. His reply (in kind of a hick accent) was "I don't know...it's one of those haunted house things...I think".
  2. Well, this weekend was my annual trek to Ohio for Fearfest…I haven’t missed a year yet. We arrived a little before the park opened…not too many people in line ahead of us…so we got in pretty quickly, that was cool. In the department of “You can’t please everybodyâ€Â…I was disappointed that the foot of the fountain was not decorated for Fearfest, that was always a good “group shot†photo-op. Speaking of decorations, as you can tell by my member # and post count I am a more of a “quality not quantity†kind of a guy. There MAY be more decorations this year…but nothing really blew me away this year. There were some good decorations, but some of those were not very noticeable and you could overlook them if you weren’t paying attention. Another complaint I had was that Fearfest seemed to suffer a little because of Winterfest. In the past it was as if PKI was transformed into a fall/Halloween atmosphere. Seeing signs hyping Winterfest all over kind of ruined the mood, especially the big one next to the tombstones near the pond in Rivertown. I will say the fog was a big improvement over last year on FRIDAY night over last year. (Saturday’s fog was not very much though.) Once again, the crowds were not bad on Friday, so we were able to do every Fearfest attraction that we wanted…and thankfully we did all but the Circus Of Horrors and the movie attractions: Elvira, Jason’s Extreme Cuts & the Fun House Express. Saturday was AMAZINGLY crowded by the time Fearfest kicked in. Except for BAFD I have never seen the park this packed. Doing any of the Fearfest attractions this night was going to be a “nightmare†in itself! I have never been to Fearfest when it was this crowded. (I do not know if it was the fact that it was nice weather, or that it is just getting more popular.) A couple of the lines we noticed (And the lines were always “thick†not single file.) were: Psycho Path: The line stretched all the way around the corner of Zephyr. Maniac Manor: The line was WAY past the clock. Headless Hollow: The line was out of the station, down to Tomb Raider and then doubled back past the train station! (I would have liked to do this again…but it was not worth THAT much of a wait.) As for my rating of the attractions: I thought they were all pretty good…as usual. The fog inside the covered bridges on the Headless Hollow was great. Corn Stalkers was a nice addition. I have NEVER been surprised or shocked by any of the “scareactors†at any of the previous Fearfests…but this year I was finally “gotâ€Â. (And by a simple thing.) I was walking by one of the wagons in Corn Stalkers and really jumped when someone came out from underneath it.) With the crowds being so bad, on Saturday night we only did the Circus Of Horrors (always good) and Jason’s Cuts. Near the end of the evening the people I was with noticed that Adventure Express had no line…so they ended up riding it 16 times…which is more than I wanted to do, so I just watched. Jumping back to Saturday DAYTIME, I finally did Slingshot for the first time because people on here said it was good…my review, yeah, it was okay…but not something I would need to do very often. The guys running the ride were VERY nice. They were playing a game trying to guess what each riders taste in music was…they both failed with me…even though I had a shirt on that should have given it away. We went back on Sunday until around 3:00...and once again, the weather was very nice…and it wasn’t crowded…so a nice ending for this years Fearfest trip.
  3. The Eifel tower shot showing King Cobra & the Keel Boats broings back memories. Thanks for posting this link.
  4. I started at PKIUnlimited also...which I originally liked, but was glad when PKICentral came along. (And still am.) The forums seem a lot more friendly.
  5. I found this website which states Whoopi is doing a show in New Jersey on the 22nd...so I kind of doubt she will be in Ohio...just my guess though. http://www.statetheatrenj.org/show.cfm?eve...003&venue=State
  6. CoastersRZ...thanks for answering...that helps me out.
  7. Could someone explain the "walk-on" passes...will they be available each weekend...who is eligable...where do you pick them up. Thanks.
  8. This site is by far a "secret". If you go to Google and search for "Kings Island" and say "The Beast"...PKICentral is ALWAYS high on the search results...sometimes higher than the official PKI site. I wouldn't be watching a News show that couldn't find this site in less than 5 minutes!
  9. Yeah, this is from the first Fearfest in 2000. Maybe i'm sentimental...but that one still seems like the best time i've had. (You never forget your first!) The fog machines were incredible! (Picture the most fog you can imagine...then triple it.) What you can (almost) see in the VRCincinnati link is the entrance to "The Freezer" at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower. (A lot of the characters were dressed as meat butchers.) If you went to the other side of the tower you got into the VERY long line for "Torture Tower" which was located at the top of the tower. To be honest, that idea wasn't the greatest...what with the limited area up there, there wasn't that much to see...plus like I said the line was terrible because sending people up and down took time...but i'm still glad I can say I got to do it!
  10. what coaster?: Son of Beast...it's WAY to rough...and I know the "don't set on the wheels" rule...but what kind of ride is considered good that knocks out 2 out of 3 rows in each car because they are too rough?! what water ride?: I actually like them all...but The Wild Thornberrys is my least favorite. Congo Falls is great because even if you don't want to take the time to ride it and get wet, you just stand on the bridge and get even more soaked! Nothing beats it on a hot day. what thrill ride?: Drop Zone...just because I also do not like "that kind of ride". what flat ?: The Scrambler what water park ride?: I don't go to the water park anymore.
  11. Kind of surprised Viking Fury is on the list...I didn't think anyone else thought that ride was "anything". Even though I like Delirium better, I have a good time on Viking Fury...if everyone screams.
  12. I will also add that you "guys" are doing a great job. My family went on August 2nd & 3rd. (Each time around 3-5 P.M.) I did not get his name...but the guy who helps you into your raft & sees you off was very nice. Each day he would come up just before the raft left and ask something like "is everyone ready?" As for getting wet, that was good too. The people in BOTH towers drenched us good after we yelled up and asked them to. Keep up the good work!
  13. I do not think Spongebob is overated...I think it is a lot better than the Stan Lee thing. I also think quite a bit of people forget what it was like going to Kings Island as a kid. As much as I enjoy the park now as an adult, it will never be quite as good as when I was a kid. Everything seemed so much bigger and "magical". When I see Spongebob & IJST I am glad that there are rides like this for the kids...which is what the park should be about.
  14. Last year...the VERY first time I decided to not get a locker, I lost my wallet. The next day I went to the park without much hope it would be turned in...but was in shock to find that not only had it been turned in, but everything...including $80.00 cash was still in it. It IS nice to know that there are still honest people out there!
  15. PKIbabe89...I know this kind of stuff probably happens almost daily...but the situation you described was eerily just like what was happening when I was in line last summer. I was there Aug. 10th & 11th. It was happening about 1 1/2 rows ahead of where I was. It really was pretty ugly. LOTS of profanity and threats. In the end I do not know if the line-cutters actually got to ride...but I did see them with security when I walked by the photo area of FOF. I was with my nephews who also saw the people cut. It took some explaining to them to make them understand that yes, I thought that cutting was not fair...but it also wasn't worth the heartache of worring about it. I am more of a pacifist...and figure 3 or 4 people in front of me doesn't make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. I would rather overlook it and stay in a good mood.
  16. This will sound like a kiss-up reply...but it is the truth. When the "Annoying Guests" thread was started, I thought about starting an "Annoying Employees..." thread myself. I sat here and tried to think of annoying things that employees did, but I couldn't. The MOST I could come up with was some of them looked bored...but that's not really annoying. (In that catagory though...is the height checker near the pop machines at The Beast EVER happy to be there?!) After years of going to PKI I can not think of a bad experience with an employee. Note: I DO notice when an employee looks like they are having a great time being there...which makes a ride better. Speaking of that, overall The Beast crew usually seems to stand-out in this catagory. Okay...my kissing-up is over!
  17. I don't know if it's true...because I don't own this video...but this reviewer claims you can hear the Enchanted Voyage music (with different lyrics) on this Hanna Barbera "A Christmas Story" video. http://video.reviewindex.com/reviews/6302874319.html
  18. Thanks for the info...it helps. I wouldn't want to drive that far and have everyone somewhat dissapointed. Like I said, it's a family trip...and not all the family are thrill-riders...some just like the "normal" rides & the atmosphere...which PKI has. So, even though Cedar Point has great coasters, I know it will not thrill everyone...and Six Flags Great America is pretty awful. The only other nearby park for us is Six Flags St.Louis, and mostly everyone has been there a few years ago...so that's what I mean when I say we're looking for something a little "different". Your advice did help. Thanks again!
  19. Hi, Nice pictures. It's too bad that some people have made you not want to take the time to write a TR. I don't usually reply to most of them...but I do read them. I was wondering how you would rate Wonderland againt Kings Island. My family is looking for something new to do this summer. Wonderland would be about a 9-10 hour drive for us...would you reccomend that? Dominion & Carowinds would be about 12 hours away...have you tried either of those? Would they be a better "bet" in your opinion? Thanks...and once again nice pictures.
  20. I rode in back. For what it was, (a family coaster) I thought it was good. I am looking forward to the fishtailing and the stairs rumbling...that should make it better. As it stands now, It's worth about a 40 minute wait, but not much more...I pity anyone this summer waiting over an hour.
  21. Well...even though nobody could/did answer my first post...I was wondering if an employee knew which was accurate. The flyer I received said the sale was in a tent from 8-10 weather permitting...but the website just says that it will be outside the shops along International Street. Any help would be appreciated.
  22. Don't seem to find this mentioned anywhere...or if it's actually a big deal...but here is an Ebay charity listing for 2 tickets + 2 tickets to the opening media day: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW
  23. I received the Gold Pass Rewards flyer today in the mail...among other things it mentions another huge tent sale (weather permitting) on the VIP Friday nights April 22 & 29th 8-10 PM. My question is it worth a long drive pretty much for it. Were there good deals at last years? (I couldn't make it.) Thanks
  24. Rob, WOW! Thanks for answering my post! Yes, your music does "make" the ride. I really do like just sitting before the ride with the drum loop over and over...it never gets boring...it adds to the excitement of the ride. I really hope you put it on your site...it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again, J.D.
  25. Jeez...thanks for all the responses...even if I found out it is pretty hopeless! I am not a big Tomb Raider fan...so I didn't know if that music was used somewhere else...I should of guessed it was something PKI exclusive. Anyway, thanks for all the info...it did help a little. Fusiondude's post guided me towards RPM's site which does have a couple of clips...but not the "drums"...plus I wandered across the company that helped design Tomb Raider:The Ride which was interesting. (Here are those links if anyone cares.) http://www.visualterrain.net/Pages/portfol...tombraider.html http://www.rpmusic.com/htmls/news/news.html Thanks again to everyone for the help...at least I don't have to wonder if it exists anymore!
