  1. I hope I live that long...those will be good times!
  2. Wow! Thanks for letting us know...now how about some campground info! (See, no mater how much you give, someone always wants more.)
  3. This is a more direct link: http://spongebob.lego.com/en-US/TravelingA...travelvote.aspx
  4. So lets see...I not only voted in our state elections today but also for Spongebob...it's a sad statement when I feel like my vote counts more in the Spongebob contest than in the "real" elections. Good Luck Luke!
  5. Very nice photos...it seems like you did have a great October...you must have made quite an impression on them.
  6. This response may not thrill you...but at least it is honest...I am also curious if I am the only one like this...I probably only visit the "main" site about once a month, if that. It seems like I get all the news I need here on the forums...and it seems like by the time it is on the main page it is kinda old news because people are usually talking about it here in the forums before "it" happens. The same goes for pictures, someone always posts a link and I just go from here to the pictures. I do think it is great that the main site exists...but i'm curious if the only people who use it are "newbies"? Am I the only one like this?
  7. Thanks for the reply...the color scheme of the new board doesn't bother me...I just hate that you actually have to READ (God forbid) where a new post is instead of looking for a darker color where that @ symbol is. Other than that I have no complaint with the current set-up.
  8. Are there still different skins to choose from? (I have not been able to find them if there are.)
  9. Hauntguy, I can't say as I can blame the park for firing you, especially since they are probably shorthanded...but it is still too bad. You did a great job. Good luck on coming back next year. P.S. I will add that was very mature of you to "fess-up" about being fired instead of trying to hide it.
  10. I would say Asylum & Massacre Manor would be my first 2 choices for "scary"...although none of them are really scary. I also like the3-D Circus...it's always a fun time. You should try & judge the line...none of the haunts are worth more than an hour, hour & a half wait in my opinion. If the lines are worse than that you are better off riding rides and enjoying the decorations...and of course "The Undertaker" up at the entrance. And to prove that everyone has different opinions, I personally think Headless Hollow is pretty worthless. Hope you have a good time.
  11. Are any of the haunted attractions doing the reserved time tickets like they did last year with R.L. Stine?
  12. I have been a Gold Pass member for the last 5 years...and I have no problem that some of the perks are going bye-bye...the price of the season pass alone was enough to make it a good value for the money. I did use the Gold Pass parking usually...but it wasn't that big of a deal to me. The only perk that I really thought was good was the food discounts. The only time I ever used the speed-lane pass perk was during Beastbuzz when I was doing the scavenger hunt...since time was an issue I didn't have time to wait in line for some things. I remember years ago reading an article about the (then) new practice at some amusement parks that had ways that some people could skip to the head of the line. A "higher up" at the Paramount Parks (I don't remember who.) Was quoted as saying that as long as he had a say about it Paramount Parks would not have such a system. I have always remembered what he said...and agreed with it completely. He said that he never wanted to put a parent in the position of explaining to their child why some people did, and some people didn't have to stand in line. I was disappointed when Paramount did introduce the Speed Pass system.
  13. 3 Years and I haven't even made it to 200 posts yet...even though I visit this site almost everyday. (Thank God you don't have to rely on me to keep this site interesting!) Happy Birthday & keep up the good work. P.S. If this site was started on the 29th why does my join date say the 26th?
  14. I guess it just depends on what kind of person you are...I would avoid a sit-down restaurant like the plague...they are not my style at all. Is is me or what, it seems like a waiter/waitress only asks you how the food is or if you need anything else when your mouth is full of food...it drives me crazy. I actually tip less if a waiter/waitress "bugs" me too much. I much prefer getting my own food and being left alone (with my family/friends) during a meal. As a side note, I like Festhaus as is...the darkness is a nice change of pace on a hot summer day...even during Fearfest weather it seems to fit right in. As for the football games...I do not watch sports, but more power to anyone else who does.
  15. I know this is an old topic...but I just ran across this picture on a website...you can see the Kodak sign on the right. http://www.chem.pku.edu.cn/sslin/Web_Data/...;s%20Island.JPG The fountains are pretty nasty...I don't know what year this was taken, but for all of you Paramount haters at least you can give them credit for bringing the fountain back before they left!
  16. At BeastBuzz that year we watched the movie in the Paramount Theater. If I remember right, Jeff Siebert announced that they could not sell the complete video because the park did not have the rights to the old Beast commercial that was in it. I also believe that the first place winners that year each got a free copy. As a side-note, I would rather own the Brady Bunch parody video...that one was great!
  17. I believe posts in the non-Kings Island catagories do not count.
  18. I also would be curious if anyone knows the name/artist of the rally upbeat cajun/zydeco song that is played fairly often while you are sitting on the padio...it is not on the actual soundtrack.
  19. Hmmm....$4,000...so let's see with the food prices at Kings Island as high as they are, what does that tell us? She stole maybe 5 minutes worth of sales! (I'm surprised they noticed.)
  20. The Patrick with Patrick was not that hard...he was just wandering around Nick Universe...eventually he ended up by his statue and starting "mugging" with it like it was an old friend...after he was done taking pictures with some kids I asked his escort if I could get a picture of him with the statue.
  21. Well, being that I live in Illinois I do not make it to the park as often as most of you…but I just returned from my third trip this year. (At least when I do go it is not just for 1 day…it’s usually about 2 ½ days each time…just like this time.) I won’t go into a “blow-by-blow†description of the trip…just some of the highlights & a couple of observations. The weather was nice…although it would have been better if it were a little hotter for the waterpark…and the crowds were not bad at all. Anyway…things I noticed…the lights in the waiting area for SDATHC were on both Monday & Tuesday when we rode it…so I guess that’s the “norm†now. The lights were also on in FOF’s que which I personally didn’t mind…I like seeing the saucer better. “Highlights†on this trip for me were: #1: I liked seeing the characters out and about in Nickelodeon Universe. (Not just stuck in their usual area.) The kids seemed to really be thrilled seeing the characters walking around. If you look at my avatar photo you will see a photo I took on the trip…Patrick with Patrick! #2. I actually heard the operators at Viking Fury really trying to keep the crowds excited…they would challenge everyone to outscream each other…but then I was REALLY surprised when THEY tried to get the old “Less Filling-Tastes Great†chant going! #3. I finally feel like an old fisherman with a “wild tale†to tell …even though I have never fished in my life. I was having lunch at Bubba Gumps sitting by the rail watching the fish (and feeding them). I had a swarm of fish right below me…as I was looking down a HUGE black (koi?) started creeping out from under the deck. It just slowly creeped out…and it seemed endless. When I finally got to see the end of him it was amazing. He was EASILY 8-10 times bigger than the other fish. His scales looked like a houses’ shingles…they were very visible. I grabbed my camera but never got a good shot of him. The sun was shining off of the water and he never came close to the surface…so all I got was a vague shadow…I know in the future I will always look for “him†to get a better picture. (Has anyone else seen this fish?) #4. We rode White Water Canyon 4 times and every time the operators seemed to go above and beyond to be friendly as they sent you on your way and greeted you back. #5. We rode The Racer…and it raced all 4 times we rode it…so that is always cool. #6. Finally picked up the Kings Island Monopoly discounted to $19.99...my sister talked to what appeared to be a “higher up†in the store. (A man in a white shirt & tie.) She asked him if there was a chance that it would go lower by the end of the year…he said $19.99 was the bottom price. Nothing else comes to mind…but it was a pretty good trip.
  22. When you say roaming beer carts, you don't really mean they have these at other Cedar Fair parks do you? I hope not.
  23. Since the subject of the Carousel came up, I thought someone might like to know that you can buy a couple of "Queen Of Kings Island" carousel music items at this website: www.carouselstore.com They have a CD which has a few of the Christmas songs it played. (I was hoping at last years Winterfest they would be playing...but it had NO music at all when we were riding it.) Here's a direct link: http://carouselstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=661 They also have this item...unfortunately it is only available as a cassette tape: http://carouselstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=641 I bought the Christmas one last year...just as a novelty to annoy (most) people!
  24. I will not argue the point that PKI sunk a lot of money into Winterfest...and it showed...but I highly doubt it affected any "time" issues for the rehab of SOB...the employees retracking it were not pulled off of it to work on Winterfest. What's funny about this is I am not a "gung-ho" Winterfest supporter...I liked it and will miss it...but i'm not going to die over it. I just took your post as kind of a "Ha ha I told you it was a loser from the start" kind-of-a-post...which bothered me. I also have never believed that Winterfest was a success...but I did think it had a real good chance of building year after year...and I also would be willing to bet Cedar Fair will attempt it again in a couple of years.
  25. I think it would have returned had Paramount/CBS not sold the parks...so that is not quite a great forcast that it got cancelled. As for wasting time and money on Winterfest...not everyone likes the same things...I personally think the same could be said about putting time and money into SOB! (I am not hoping that it never reopens though...even though I do not like it I wouldn't want to deprive anyone who does.)
