  1. My apologies if I missed this in an earlier thread, but as Kings Island announced if there is a limit to the number of guests who can register for/attend this event?
  2. I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the Buy 4 Get 3 Free promotion has cut Disney's projected drop in occupancy rates in half. Also, the get in free on your birthday promotion has been in the works for months--it's not a knee jerk reaction to any economic situation. It's part of the larger "What Will You Celebrate?" marketing campaign for 2009. Another thing that Disney's done (apparently with great success) at the Disneyland Resort is to offer payment plans spread out over 12 months for their annual passes. I was in Disney World the week of Christmas and the place was just as crowded then as I've ever seen it in all the years I've been going.
  3. Thanks for all the kind words. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the pictures.
  4. Took some more photos last evening: The full gallery is here: http://picasaweb.google.com/kwelch/20080812
  5. Note though that the "May not include all Halloween events" footnotes seems to refer to the one 2008 visit.
  6. That's correct. A Platinum pass renewal is $140.
  7. I think you're right. I'll edit the caption and my post. Thanks. I should probably stop trying to speculate.
  8. I noticed this piece of the lift hill track in in the Swan Lake construction site: The rest of the photos I took this evening: http://picasaweb.google.com/kwelch/20080731 And as always, some panoramas: http://images.elderphotos.com/KI2009Coaste...ine07312008.JPG http://images.elderphotos.com/KI2009Coaste...e07312008-a.JPG http://images.elderphotos.com/KI2009Coaste...e07312008-b.JPG EDIT: See the post from Monroe below. That's more likely transfer track than lift hill track. Mea culpa.
  9. The itinerary can be found under the KIC Day FAQ, but obviously some things will be moved around to accommodate for the newly added construction tour. When will the itinerary be updated to include the construction tour?
  10. You can see the inside of Flight of Fear here: http://www.ginormous.org/gallery/main.php?...4&g2_page=2
  11. There was an episode of CoasterRadio.com hosted by Coaster Mom and Kevin at Kings Island's Fear Fest in 2005: http://cdn3.libsyn.com/coasterradio/coasterradio_122.mp3
  12. I took another panorama today. This time it was of the Swan Lake/Splashdown area: Panorama It's about 6 MB (9770 px by 3699 px).
  13. Correct. I saw those supports (and took this picture) on Tuesday (07/22/2008):
  14. Here are some photos from this evening: http://picasaweb.google.com/kwelch/20080723 Supports: Footers going in where we saw the new stakes last week: Better shot of the mother of all footers: Some concrete cut out:
  15. I have a strong suspicion the gray-ish colored supports on the right in this photo (http://www.KICentral.com/photos/displayimage.php?pos=-6495) are the ones for KI. They look a lot like what I saw on the highway today.
  16. You know, kids, if you're bored in the next few days/weeks/months you could watch the Artimis cameras on I-275 and I-71 for trucks en route from CSF to KI. Here's I-275 and Ohio 32: http://www.artimis.org/camera/camera109.php I-275 and Ohio 131: http://www.artimis.org/camera/camera105.php I-275 north of Loveland-Madeira Rd: http://www.artimis.org/camera/camera107.php I-275 and Montgomery Rd: http://www.artimis.org/camera/camera38.php I-275 and I-71: http://www.artimis.org/camera/camera41.php I-71 at Mason-Montgmery Rd: http://www.artimis.org/camera/camera96.php
  17. One of the flatbeds I saw going north on I-71 had a very large support piece. It looked like it might have been near the width of a cell phone tower. It's color matched that of the steel on the truck I posted. One of the other flatbeds contained more pieces like what is on the left side of this picture:
  18. Alrighty kids! Here's 18 pictures from today around the construction sites: http://picasaweb.google.com/kwelch/20080722 I'm very sorry about the poor quality. I wish the iPhone had a zoom. I also wish I had my regular Canon 40D with me. You've seen the track and the concrete enough so here are two other gems: A crane already backstage at the park. A truck on I-71 that might be carrying some of the supports. After leaving KI today, I got stuck in traffic on I-71 South around the Mason-Montgomery/Fields Ertel area. I saw two or maybe three flatbed trucks headed north on the highway with what were no doubt support pieces for the new coaster. Alas, I was unable to get my iPhone out to snap a picture of the trucks.
  19. There are about 2 or 3 pieces of track here.
  20. I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words about the photos. I'm happy that you enjoyed viewing them. I have one more photo to share with everyone tonight. While riding the KI&MVRR on Tuesday, I took a series of photos which I've stitched together into one large panoramic image of the work being done in the ravine. Ravine Panoramic (Be sure to zoom in on the image. It's 5408 pixels by 3806 pixels.)
  21. Here's one of the ride vehicles currently mothballed in Flight of Fear's "drum." Some more photos here: http://picasaweb.google.com/kwelch/Coasters2007
  22. Ditto. New rides and attractions should not be added at the expense of existing rides and attractions.
  23. I kinda made up the time at which we saw you guys. My brother and I have a tendency now to see you, Dane or others from KICentral each time we visit Kings Island. Next time, we'll have to be more social.
  24. I am standing on I-Street. It is not raining. In 2006, I rode BTMRR in the middle of a tropical storm. Today's rain wasn't as bad.
