Or, that movie could be so old its now in the public domain and thus CP doesn't need to remove it...
-
CP also gets all the free press for being the coaster capitol of the world. Face it, so long as the CF office is in Sandusky, CP will always be the flagship park. However being in that second tier (along with KBF, and KD) is not a bad place for KI to be.

Kind of, its a drain from one part of the body to another. The fluid stays in the body though.

Obesity Epidemic Leads To Bigger Rides
Touchdown replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Agree on the height thing, Im 6'3" with a very wide and tall torso. I will also freely admit that Im overweight, and my flirting with MF, TTD, and B&M normal seats limits are my own doing, however the Intamin OTSRs on their older inverted coaters (minus Volcano which had half the seats have bigger belts or at least did back they year XLC opened and S:UE one year when I found a seat with a really big belt) I cannot, no matter what I do fit into those restraints, my sholders are too big and torso too tall, I can make a fist and still not touch the restraint and my body at the same time when trying to get on those things. -
Im only a med student, so I take zero responsiblity if my info is not 100% correct, but: A shunt is put into to move fluid from one compartment to another. They are generally put in when one compartment has too much fluid (and thus too much pressure) to relieve that pressure. In the head this can run the whole range from minor to extremely important: A shunt can be placed through the ear drums to drain the middle ear of excess fluid and prevent ear infections (you probably know someone who had this, they were the ones that had to wear ear plugs when they went swimming.) However a shunt can also be placed in the brain to drain CSF (Cerebral Spinal Fluid) from the ventricles in the case of hydrocephaly, which is when due to either a blockage or the body making too much CSF the ventricles (fluid filled spaces) within the brain. This can cause mental retardation (this is not a slur in this case, I mean it literally, a slowing/loss of higher brain function) loss of consciousness, paralysis, and even death.

Do you prefer the Forward Racer or Backwards Racer?
Touchdown replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
This may sound weird but: No preference! Ill go in what ever line is shorter (which Ive had luck with that alternating almost every visit I go) or if both lines are equal, whatever version I haven't ridden last. -
Official Poll: After One Season, do you prefer new SOB or old?
Touchdown replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Seeing as its been a little over a week since I rode the thing, and my legs do not have grapefruit sized black and blue marks (which I got every time I rode the old version) this is an easy poll: New SOB. -
Dominator's new color scheme revealed
Touchdown replied to KDCOASTERFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It looks like they are keeping the same color scheme on the trains... I really hope that doesn't mean that they aren't doing anything to the trains and the seat backs will still have a scar (and sometimes duct tape) where the old Batman logo used to be. -
Maverick Queue Music
Touchdown replied to Cory Butcher's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Also if youre looking to buy them from I-tunes, someone actually made a iMix, its called Maverick Queue music. Not only are they the songs played in the queue, but most of the time the exact same version. -
Perrysburg, OH (Toledo) 3 hours to the north of KI and 1.25 hours to the east of CP.

Im also pretty sure that SOB is getting a 3rd train because when I was there for the last Fri/Sat of HH the SOB crew was working their butts off to get trains out of the station ASAP, and seeing those two work even though there really wasn't a point (they were sending out the second train as soon as when the first crested the big drop) it was defiantly apparent that this coaster could make a 3 train interval and that they were testing working it in that condition (otherwise they would have tried to even the time between the two trains.)

With KI closed, what will you do until it re-opens in April?
Touchdown replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
Well lets see: College Football: Now through January NFL Football: Now through February Holiday Season: Now through Jan 1st Hawaii Trip: Dec 16-24 Bowl Game Trip: ???? Probably going to happen Vegas Trip: March 50/50 chance of this at this point March Madness: March-April -
How many times did you visit Kings Island in 2007?
Touchdown replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
5 times to KI for me (April, Memorial Day, July, Fri-Sat Halloween Haunt last weekend) But thats because Im 3 hours away and I have CP 1.25 hours away, I went there 12 times this year (including 3 trips to Soak City and 2 trips during Halloweekends) Looking forward to my return trip for opening day... -
The off season really hits me in February, because starting tomorrow the Christmas Music goes on, and the rev up for the holidays begins. I also have the climax of college and pro football to look forward to, but once the Super Bowl is done, thats the worst time of the year. However, thankfully March comes along with its Madness and before I know it its April and time for opening day.

WWK Prices And Opening Day Announced
Touchdown replied to ClevelandRocks10's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
$24 is not a rip off for a water park looking around the country: Schilterbahn in New Braunfels is $32.65 Noah's Ark in the Wisconsin Dells is $24 (but thats under priced, due to competition from Mt. Olympus a few years ago the price was closer to $30) Soak City is $29 The Beach in Cincinatti is $26.50 Looks pretty in line with the area to me, the only thing out of whack is the $5 parking fee as every stand alone park (Disney World doesnt count as a stand alone) never charges for parking. -
My season ended on Saturday, but at least I ended it in grand fashion, and by grand I mean a front row night ride on The Beast. Amazing experience that was, Im sure my next ride will be Firehawk opening day, unless I go on an unexpected trip this winter/spring.

Thats a shame House, I was there the 6th too heres what I managed to do: -TTD -Magnum (x3) -Gemini (x2) -Tilt a Whirl -Train -Maverick -Fright Zone (x2) -Cedar Downs -Calypso -Blue Streak -Fear Faire -Lair of the Vampire -Pharaoh's Secret -Troika -CarnEvil Sometimes you have to be smart about what and when you pick to ride. I waited in one 3 hour line (Maverick) but thanks to me being there at their opening (TTD, Lair, Pharaoh's) I polished off three major attractions all with a <30 min wait. Only choosing to do TTD, Raptor, Maverick and MF on crowded days when the lines are huge is a sure fire way to have a bad day. There are many other quality rides at CP that dont have 2+ hour waits the whole day.

SFGAm Bin Theft Reported
Touchdown replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The only way my cell phone makes it into the parks is if I am wearing a jacket with zippered pockets or Im wearing cargo shorts. Heck even my wallet is never in a normal pocket at an amusement park. -

Thats unfortunate Gordon, I have never lost a wrist watch on any coaster. Were your watch bands the "clip" velcro or "belt" type? Because so long as you have the end guard (ie the little plastic hoop to put your excess strap in after you have locked it) on a belt model I cant see how it can come off. -
No, a big part of the appeal of The Beast is from the moment you hit the first tunnel through to the crest of the second lift you do not see any of the park, its just you, The Beast, and the woods. If you had another coaster back there crossing its path, the feeling of going into the abyss would be lost.
-
Heres an also really simple way to avoid wooden coaster roughness: keep your back off the backrest, I dont know why it works but I know it does work. The only times I have ever gotten shooting (pinched nerve) pain from wooden coasters is when Ive had my back on the backrest. Im guessing it has something to do with allowing my body to shake/compress/decompress on its own without the added friction from my back on the backrest slowing down the process unevenly.
-
If you are talking about the "stairway of death" at BGE, thats easily avoidable. That path is mearly a "short cut" from Scotland to the Rhineland, you can just walk around the park loop and avoid the big hill or you can take the train to Italy/New France and the Skyride to Aquataine/Rhineland

You have got to be kidding me, CP's Scare Zones beat the pants off of KI's. They are much longer (well Fear Faire and Fright Zone are) on wider midways with many more places to hide. Fright Zone remains my favorite Halloween attraction at any park Ive been to.
