  1. Cant really help you with beach recs. When we go to Tampa we try and stay at the Embassy Suites (which is right next to the park) or at the Hampton Inn a little further away (we have a Hilton Honors card.) When we do the whole Tampa/Orlando thing its only for the parks, if we are going to a Florida beach we're going down to Ft Meyers/Sanibel.
  2. So if the queue is going to be there, looks like the best way to get there is to go down I-street and take a right past Starbucks into Nick U and then up to the Diamondback enterance. Either way, its going to be a much shorter distance at opening then Fireahawk was, which isnt a good thing. More people will run and there will be an increased chance of someone hurting themselves. Why CF doesn't do a walk back like Disney does is beyond me.
  3. FoF, we must have been on the same train on opening day! I had my first and second rollback ever then too, all thanks to a guest illness.
  4. You guys are criticizing the queue, when I was talking about entrances/what they look like from the midway. I think all those rides look great right at the entrance. As for queues, unless you are at a park owned by Busch, Universal, Disney or Hershand if their hasn't been a good queue made in 20+ years unless you count redos of old queues (like Scooby Doo.) Some sort of shade covering and mister fans is all you got.
  5. ^You mention the bad (all examples from the mid 90s) but not the good, like Maverick, Firehawk and MF. No need to get pessimistic.
  6. ^^You too? Well thanks to the early start time of the ND Pitt game on Saturday, and the time change (another hour of sleep hurray!) Ill actually be going to both an ND game and CP's closing day in one weekend. Been busting my butt all week so that I could take the whole weekend off.
  7. ^Im just pointing out that the time length you wait to ride is unchanged by someone doing that unless said person is supposed to board the ride next.
  8. When you go to Universal, stay a few nights (I recomend two) at their hotels, because their perks are better then Disney at their parks. You get unlimited front of the line access to nearly every (kiddie rides and teacups are the holdouts) ride on site. I cant imagine ever doing Universal without that perk again. The accommodations are also really nice, when we go down to Florida it usually goes something like this: Day 1: Arrive in Tampa, Do Busch Gardens Day 2: Drive to Orlando, check into Hard Rock Hotel, do Sea World Day 3-4: Universal Orlando Day 5: Morning at Universal, Check into to Disney's Old Key West, whatever park is doing evening EMH that night Day 6-13: Disney World Day 14: Home
  9. Beast fan, how exactly is that? The only time this would be true was if some one at the front missed getting on the train before it boarded. There is no extra time spent in line if someone in a queue doesn't move for a minute, it just means that when they do move you're going to move a lot.
  10. If its a rough woodie I will hold onto the metal bar in front of me as a way of keeping my back off of the backrest (thus avoiding any back pain) but otherwise I dont really hold on. If its an airtime machine (hyper, out and back woodie, etc) or a flyer my hands are up, if its a looper, Ill just place my hands on my legs.
  11. It depends on where your weight is, if you have a large lower body, MF and TTD are going to be tight, upper body WT, Raptor, and Maverick might cause you problems. Can you fit on Delerium? If you can expect to fit on Maverick. Also if you have a large lower body, I can tell you right now Diamondback is going to be a tight squeeze, unless B&M has modified the restraints since Raging Bull and Apollo's Chariot (the only two Ive ridden.)
  12. It is highly dependent on a few factors: -How late is the park open (ie if its a high of only 40 on a Friday in October, well thats too cold because it will be in the teens by 1 am) -What is the weather like? (rain, again 40 is the threshold, cloudy/night 30 which is what I voted, or sunny and not open after dark 20) -How windy is it? What is the windchill. I will layers to a certain point but if it gets to the point where I need to where a parka, fleece, sweatshirt, and under armor to be warm then we have a problem. I can do that and go to a football game but to try and walk around and ride (Im a big guy so all those layers will limit what I can ride on) its just not fun. If I can walk around without the parka, then Im good to go.
  13. CP Platinum Pass for me, will be purchasing my 09 Platinum Pass this week, and previously held an 07 Maxx+ Pass.
  14. ^Or if US is the one you want to get one, get the Fright Feast.
  15. I thought US was fantastic. Im not a gore guy and usually do not enjoy those types of mazes (cough, Club Blood, cough) but I really enjoyed this one, people jumping out from all angles was just great. My second time through I competently forgot about the jumping man at the end and he got me really good. My only suggestion, for next year, is to do a video to play in the queue before hand linking Magnum to the outbreak. Something like a faux news report talking about the chaos and how it started X weeks ago and then cut to a commercial for Magnum talking about how this is the final day of our X week giveaway or something like that. Then at the end perhaps add a new effect where you see a bunch of energy drinks either being: burned, marked quarantined or something like that. And one other minor quibble is your use of the word "inoculation" I dont know if its a joke or not, but to be inoculated with something means that you are exposed to the pathogen enough to become infected. I think the way you guys are using it is synonym for "vaccinated" which it is not. I'm not sure if Im over thinking a joke or not, but either way inoculation is not something you want done to you.
  16. It had to have been some major accident, or there was another one in the same place because on Friday when I drove down I got stuck there too. Instead of having 45 min to check in and change to hit the park by opening, I lost an half an hour and even with rushing didnt make it into the park until 5 min after opening.
  17. ^Beav, read my post again ALL BUT the major coasters and flats are not open. Also yes, the 3 indoor ones are open, but just a fair warning, the best haunts at CP are outside.
  18. ^Just be aware the outdoor haunts are not opened on Sunday, and on Friday all but the major coasters and flats are not open.
  19. ^Not true, CP on a Saturday is packed. Friday and Sunday not so much, at worst it will be comparable to a summer weekday, at best totally dead. All depends on the weather and other events.
  20. I had a blast this past Friday and Saturday but there were a few things that kept it from a 5: -When I went through Cemetery Drive at about 9:30 no actor tried to scare anyone in our group, they at most stood there and some were even gossiping while we walked by. Very disappointing. -Worksite had maybe 6 people working the enitre zone Friday night (9:45) they need some more people here -The park was way too crowded Saturday night, every line spilled into the midway, I understand they want to make money but there comes a point where you have to stop letting people into the park so that those inside can have fun. That point should be when all your queues are full on all your rides, having lines extend onto the midway makes for an unsafe situation, confuses guests (what line is this for?) and impairs traffic flow. I was only planning on doing one haunt, Shake Rattle and Roll and The Beast so I was unaffected by this (went to Fright Feast) but it was still disapointing to see. -Fright Feast, love it but we were promised monsters and as part of the first seating on Saturday (5-6) we got no monsters and then were told to go outside and wait at the US line after we ate. I know it was the first weekend they split it up this way and some kinks need to be worked out but just felt I would mention them here. My suggestion is this: have the monsters show up to scare us at 5:30 or so or stop promoting that they show up (it would not affect me purchasing the meal) and the other one was handled once we got there, and when it comes to the FOL pass, my suggestion is this, make the pass good for the first hour-hour and a half and suggest that we go line up for another haunt after our meal and then go to US and not have to wait. That way you increase the value of the experience for us, and get better flow (we will all show up at different times.) On the plus side though (and again, I gave it a 4 out of 5 so dont think I didnt have fun: ) -It got totally lost in Death Row, which made that maze so much more fun -Trail of Terror, Massacre Manor, Tombstone and Urgent Scare are simply fantastic, no complaints here. -The amount of fog in the park is fantastic, really adds to the atmosphere and makes SOB, AE and The Racer even more fun to ride at night.
  21. ^Not to mention SFMM has a reputation for horrible poor customer service, one train operation, and long, long, long lines. I may be in the minority, and I do have to admit I have never been to SFGAdv or SFMM yet (SFGAm, SFOT, SFOG, SFAW, SFWOA, SFNE, SFDL, SFFT Ive been to) but SFFT blows the others out of the water. Great operations, shows (best night show not at a Disney Park,) customer service and themeing the name Six Flags does truly not deserve to be attached to this park. Outside of that SFOT, SFOG and SFGAm are the other decent parks, the rest not so much. Edit-really a word that rhymes with kiss is a censored word here!?! Whatever.
  22. ^Wait what are you asking? Is a Friday at CP or KI better then a Saturday, much, much, much better if youre lucky you wont wait at all on a Friday at either location.
  23. ^Thats mainly because its an all day event there and the park is much bigger. Its not a trip to CP if you havent hit MF, TTD, Maverick and Raptor for most people and if you are going to do those four rides and the Halloween stuff, youll need all 12 hours on Saturday.
  24. I think she was talking about the indoor mazes, having them opened on a Sunday say from 1-8 would be very doable. Also, gator I dont think they would open the park any earlier on a Saturday, in my world the indoor haunts would open like this: Friday: 7-1 am Saturday: 4-1 am Sunday: 1-8
  25. Isnt it great to spend your birthday at a park? I know its my goal every year (June 2,) this year I had to delay it a few days but it was still a blast (went to CM!.) I also love doing CP and KI on the same weekend, that I usually do for either Labor Day or Memorial Day Weekend. Man, its been way too long since Ive been to a park, cant wait to hit CP again this Sunday (KI comes next weekend.) Hope you had a great birthday!
